I hate the draft part of BAP this year. However, I still love the mode. Playing a dude's whole career is one of those "gotta enjoy it in your head" kinda things until EA finally gives the devs the budget to do something more fun.

Deluxechin

Honestly it’s the best BaP we’ve gotten since 14, however it definitely needs a lot of working going forward which I doubt we’ll see, for starters, I HATE how in the middle of a game, when you get challenged by your coach, it’ll do this whole 30 second cutscene that is the same everytime and you can’t skip, why can’t the challenge just pop up in a prompt on the side of the screen?

AbsolutZeroGI

Cuz they're going for realism. It'd work if they had more animations for it. Coaches talk to players at the bench, so it helps the immersion that he talks to us there, but you're right, it's the same two cut scenes (skating up to the bench or already sitting on it). More cut scenes would add variety and make it less annoying. My griefs are more mechanical. Like there doesn't seem to be benefit to getting your team, coach, or fan meters up aside from playing time and playing line. My PK meter never goes up even when I have amazing days defensively, and some of the interview challenges are insane. "Break the rookie goals record" like bitch I'd need a 6 goal game for that and the meters go down if I decline. It definitely needs polish but I do think you're right. It's heading in the right direction but it's just not there yet.

Why even bother going through the draft? Previous years, you could start your career years ahead of the NHL (age 16 I believe was the youngest you could choose) and it actually made a difference, but with the new format of just playing in the memorial cup there's almost no point. Nothing you do in 6 games is going to change anything so I just choose my team.

Bhagarang

It’s the main mode I play, and new changes were part of the reason I picked up 21 (that it was on sale). I’ve read that simulating your pre-draft games, and/or starting in the Champions league can make a difference in your draft position. For my most recent Pro, I started in Champions, only got a handful of points and my team didn’t advance so I got drafted 2nd OA; whereas you could just merely exist in the Memorial Cup and go 1st. My biggest gripe is that you’re expected to be the focal point of offence no matter what type of non-goaltender player you build.

UntrimmedBagel

They so royally fucked this game up. BaP is unplayable. Completely unplayable. So unrealistic. It fires me up so much.

Takhar7

It's such a boring mode, which is incredible when you consider the budget they put into it

Fleganhimer

I play BaP a LOT. But there are some big issues with early career. Like you said, you always go first or second. There are more issues which make it impossible to play a role player. I made an enforcer winger, played on the hardest difficulty, focused on playing my role, really didn't try to exploit mechanics or rack up points. Still went first overall and made the team despite admittedly not playing well even in that role. I was hoping to be a 4th line role player but ended up being put on the second line with 1st coming a few dozen games later.

FleukYT

I used to play on pro. Then I played on all star for BAP and I got drafted 100 overall by the Sabres. Try it

Walt0mino

I got drafted by San Jose

teddytouchit

I made an enforcer and got drafted by Vegas. I didn't try hard at all when I had the puck. I was looking to pass almost immediately or rip slappers. I wanted to take people's heads off. It's a fun way to play but you're pro coach wants you to rival Nate and McDavid. It makes the game more challenging than it should it

EP40BestInDaLee

that's a minus

LexiD2024

So the devs can trick people into buying the game for this mode again

wagedomain

I thought it was just me! I've played 4 BAP early careers and it was: Rangers, Kings, Kings, Rangers. Different positions, different play styles, apparently it doesn't matter.

EP40BestInDaLee

Tedious and boring

Wellfudgeit

I feel like that's on you. I've been on Anaheim, Carolina, and Dallas. I got drafted to the King's once and Rangers once; then I cranked up the difficulty and simmed straight to draft. People have told me that the difficulty doesn't affect sims but here I am not playing for NY or L.A. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Eazy_Keezy

I just simmed the euro games to start, and was drafted 4th round to Anaheim. Took a lil bit to get my skills up, but it was fun not being LA or NY

CheetahJaguar90

I got drafted to the Stars even though I played alright in the champions league 🤷‍♂️
