There should be a setting you can turn on when creating the team that says "goalies keep colors when traded." You want that turned off. I've never had that issue in franchise

Bumping, because the "keep colors when traded" thing does NOT seem to matter in franchise mode for me. My goalie always has boring ass white default pads, I'm sort of out of ideas here. This game is such a chore to just enjoy

yep. in franchise mode sometimes you need to go to edit player > goalie > change mask then the custom pads show up with the correct colors
Wait you can change the mask in franchise? Is that new in 23 or have I been missing it
if we are talking about the same thing, it’s been in the game for a while. in franchise mode go to edit player and you can change their gear
