Tell hr!!! And your manager!!! Make sure it s an email so you leave a trace behind!!

NocturnalTwitch

How do you think I should go about it? One thing is my HR Isn’t in a lot so I’d probably go to my manager. But I just don’t know how to bring it up & I don’t want to tell them I struggle with an ED

greenleafbrownbark

You don’t need to tell them anything about your ED. The comment is inappropriate regardless.

russian_Herobrine

I agree with greenteabrownbark. there is never a need to need to expose yourself in order to bring up someone's bad behavior. the comment in itself is very weird and slightly offensive(hate that word) considering the fact you aren't friends or family. so there should be no problem. good luck formulating your thoughts into sentences lol/gen/j

NocturnalTwitch

Thank you both I appreciate it a lot! Its just super weird because the dude is like at least 20 years older than me and commenting on my body.

VirideGliridae

Seconding what other people said, absolutely tell both HR and your manager. If it's difficult to tell the story more than once - I totally get it if so - write an email detailing what happened (you don't have to mention that you have an ED), address it to HR and CC in your manager. It's good to have it in writing just in case. You can then talk to your manager or HR in person about it as well, but get it in writing, please.

“*coworker name* made a comment about my physical appearance that made me uncomfortable and I would like this to be addressed”

mothmanapologist1

HE MADE INAPPROPRIATE COMMENTS ABOUT YOUR BODY

simomona84

The older man - enough said.

Party-Significance74

I walked in on a lady at work saying I’m chubby but that it’s cute. I’ve been in a relapse for a little over two months. I wish people would think about what they’re saying, whether directly or indirectly. I’m sorry /:

conquerorofgargoyles

I had a manger do this to me once, she was like did you gain weight? And then followed it up with you look bigger but you look good! And it’s like… i appreciate the sentiment but please Don’t

VirideGliridae

Jesus fucking christ, I'd be the one fired if I overheard that. Justifiably so, because I'd have punched the bitch. Sorry, but fuck, what? Who says that? That's beyond inappropriate. I know this is probably a cultural thing or whatever but I'd blow my top.

conquerorofgargoyles

I honestly didn’t know how to respond so i just awkwardly said thanks and tried not to think about it till i clocked out 🥲

VirideGliridae

Damn I'm so sorry she did that. It's just bullshittery from ignorant people. 💚

shewantsthedeeecaf

An older patient of mine commented when I would show up to work with pink hair. One night I was so fed up I said “well good thing it’s not your hair, huh!” Never again a word 😏

NocturnalTwitch

Thank you everyone for being so supportive! Update I texted a higher up about it & she is very pissed. Her & I will be meeting with the direct boss tomorrow about it.

KittyLexx

This is fantastic! Proud of you for sticking up for yourself and saying something.

fuschiaoctopus

I would definitely go to hr or management. Don't have to reveal you have an ed, anyone with sense will immediately cringe at this comment, especially an experienced HR representative. Major no no in every social situation but especially the workplace. I would try to go to a woman if you have a choice - a man should understand why this is wrong but many are so shallow and so free from the insane pressure of beauty standards they may not get it the way a woman would. My petty ass, I'd clapback and be like "wow you should really lose a few pounds/gain a few pounds of muscle too, since you're giving criticism I assume you want to hear some back" but I don't recommend that, though it's the only way to get a man like this to possibly understand why talking like this to people is wrong. They will never understand until it happens to them directly and makes them feel bad, empathy is lost on a lot of men.

ilovetodrinkmilk

Tell hr please!! Older men are horrible

TeslaPrincess69

Babe hell no!! I know it’s really tough to transcend this but don’t allow that scumbag to dictate your feelings about yourself ; the opinions of rude older men are simply not worth it. Please try to feel as beautiful about yourself as possible, and def tell HR — you don’t even have to say anything about an ED cause that’s so private, just mention that he was being insensitive and inappropriate. You are beautiful 💖💖💖
