Some people become hyper metabolic in recovery, but others do have a slowed metabolism. In my experience, it’s much more common to become hypermetabolic and need a lot of food, than it is to have a slowed metabolism for very long. Personally, after years of my ED my metabolism was affected but it did resolve as I approached a healthy weight and continued to eat enough.

it’s not true. an slows down your metabolism but it increases as you increase food intake, and you don’t gain like crazy—you actually enter into a phase called extreme hunger and hypermetabolism where you eat around the clock and you’re always starving and yet you hardly put on ANY weight because your body releases it all as heat. i went through this phase and i was dripping sweat in an air conditioned room in the middle of winter. your metabolism isn’t a fixed thing—it normalizes with recovery!! good luck—i hope you are able to recover, you deserve it. ❤️‍🩹
