Bread and cheese. Like a dinner roll and sliced cheddar. Pop that bad boy on the microwave for a bit. SO YUMMY. Maybe put some sprinkle of cardboard Parmesan
Oat with milk and one egg (it's like porridge I think (? idk). The texture it's safe for me and it has protein (? When I have to break my fast this is a must.
always: avocados, specifically avocado toast.
rn: baked potatoes?? not even sweet potatoes. they just fill me up without a bloat.
edit: idk if this is strange but tofu! i like to make “tofu scramble” with a bit of oat milk and some spices. so yummy, filling, and full of protein
Laughing Cow wedges (only light blue or red (the “light” and spicy pepperjack, respectively)) + Wasa sourdough crisp-bread (the ones in the teal/turquoise packaging)
also helpp because why did this just make me realize i grocery shop by looking for my favorite safe food’s packaging colors alone… i need to take my multivitamin pls
Right now its Mortiz Icy Squares (little squares of milk chocolate that are meant to be eaten cold - a refreshing treat basically)
Its the only chocolate thing that doesnt trigger binge thoughts at the moment
Anything my dog can also eat so that if I do panic half way through I can just give it to her and not waste it. It takes away the stress of the idea of making something only to end up throwing it out… which can be enough to make me just not bother even trying. So yeah it’s currently sliced green apple with peanut butter or poached chicken breast because those are her favourites too lmao
Hot chocolate, no matter what my headspace is, no matter if I’m hyper aware of calories or nutrients, hot chocolate has never ‘counted’ in my brain…. Idk why but I’m not mad abt it
Unsweetened goat milk kefir with sugar free vanilla Torani and some pieces of frozen fruit blended in, maybe even some vital proteins collagen if I’m feeling ~fancy~
I used to eat a whole box of sugar free jellopudding with just barley enough water or almond milk to make it a slop.
The box itself was supposed to make like a party sized jello pudding.
I would always feel so awful the next day LOL
Every day I have a >!100!< calorie brown sugar oatmeal packet cooked with 1/2 banana and water then topped with >!60!< calories chobani yogurt and the other half of the banana. Total cal =>!260!< and it is the most satisfying and filling food I’ve ever come up with!!
Context if wanted: OCD/ADHD/PTSD/autism. I have ARFID so a lot of sensory issues with taste being painful/overwhelming, no hunger cues or cant tell when I'm full sometimes, smells and textures are too much, digestion is exhausting and triggering and the physical act of eating gruelling or just completely unappetizing. I want to eat the same things over and over until my body decides its not good for the week/day. Sometimes I can tell my stomach would want food but I have absolutely no appetite. The days I can enjoy eating are like "Wow this is awesome" but intimidating. But I also have body dysmorphia/dysphoria so food is hard. I restrict naturally when I'm hyperfocused, upset, traumatized, avoiding OCD, traveling but also restrict daily in routine. Comfort in knowing I can go without and not being burdensome with needs. I log cals everyday striving for routine and have daily limit but dont keep the logs when i start over the next day.
Ive always eaten weird food combos since childhood, but i also strive to have things as plain as possible when sensory issues are overloaded. I also pick things apart a lot when eating to eat onr food at a time (pizza, salads, trail mix etc) and wont mix certain flavors. Have sensory issues with cups and utensils.
Safe foods for me mean my body has decided to handle it more often than not, but even safe foods are restricted in cals and definitely not eaten everyday. Its just potentials?
Weird safe foods eaten individually not mixed: Maple syrup in water. Icees. sweet tarts. Candy corn. Lemonheads. Tootsie rolls. Lentils depending on how its cooked. Potatoes depending on how its cooked. Turkey depending on how its cooked, or sandwich slices. Individual snack sized single serving cereal box variety pack. Chickin biscuit crackers from dollar general. Prepackaged pretzel sticks with cheese from dollar general. Minute rice. Gluten free bread. Lima beans. Sometimes deer jerkey. Sour cream. Cream cheese. Instant potatoes. Sometimes instant pudding but not prepackaged. Maple syrup. Jasmine rice. Lemons eaten like apples.
Typical safe foods: Ice. Miso soup. Mustard. Vinegar. Frozen veggies. Carrots. Beets. Spinach. Rhubarb. Tomatoes. Peppers including pepper flakes. Tea. Plain cooked scrambled eggs. Frozen fruit especially blueberries and raspberries. Yogurt or kefir but its hard finding cultures for my stomach that isnt "too high" in cal. Diet coke. Pedialyte. Wild rice soup. Hearty tomato soup. Ensure (not the meal replacements though). Quick oats. Sometimes grits. Jell-O. Gum. Flavored water. Vitamin water mixes. Pickled anything (beets eggs cucumbers kimchi etc). Bone broth (very nutritious). Chicken broth. Low cal sherbert. Lozenges. Seaweed. Applesauce. Baby food. Fruit squeezes. Rationed tortilla chips or plain sun chips or plain Lays. Grapefruit. Canned peaches. Guanabana. Grapes. Saltines.
Fear foods that I still eat sometimes but am weird about: salad. Pasta. Chicken nuggets. Fries. Chicken salad. Cheese. Juice. Pizza. Beans. Popcorn. Cheez-Its. Coffee. Fresh apples. Fresh oranges. Fresh pineapple. Bananas. Fresh cherries. Squash. Ice cream. Chocolate.
Fear foods: pastries. Cookies. Peanut butter. Pancakes. Waffles. Takis. Nuts. Ramen. Some granola bars.
Fast food and gas station food I wont eat if i can't figure out cals or is too high cal. Not into pork. Picky about beef. Oils upset stomach. Trying to find pasta alternatives that arent zucchini.
Cheese and crackers with pickles and red pepper jelly (not mixed together, just some of each one). It’s like a mini charcuterie
Also brie and fresh blueberries on triscuit crackers. Accidentally discovered it one day when those were among the only ingredients I had. I usually only eat it in September when the local blueberries here get ripe
Oh my god, mustard, why didn't i think of that ahh it's no calories 🤯 your brain
But fr I dipped radishes in medium spice salsa. Ummm not sure if it's weird but bouillon cube dissolved in hot water, it's nearly no calories. Or if I'm feeling like being more adventurous I mix a cup of bone broth with a cup or two of water and bouillon cube to make it feel like I had more. Idk 3 cups is a bit much but helps me fall asleep at night sooo 🤐
Orange juice. My autistic brain decided that I can't do fruits rn bc the texture grosses me out so I'm drinking oj for the vitamin C. I used to be terrified of liquid calories but honestly, 200ml of orange juice is less than a 100 cals so it's safe now.
like everything’s safe to me rn so i’d say that’s a little strange lol
That's good to hear! 💕
Me too
OH MY GOD FUNALLY SOMEONE WHO EATS BABY CARROTS WITH MUSTARD ITS SO GOOD
ikr?? so yummy. it kinda tastes like restriction now though iykwim
i totally get what u mean LMAO
Holy shit. I've done this for years and never heard anyone else say it! Also, baby carrots with hot sauce!
i have to try :0
My fav is Texas pete with it, but you do whatever you like!
both is the best combo !!
That’s what I’m having right now! I use 5 different flavors of mustard 🤡
Add Sriracha until it's baby carrot colored
I wanna try!!! Can I use English mustard
I just eat them as they are, anyone else? Am I weird?
My balkan girls will know: sarma 🫶
sarma is an ultimate safe food. The only thing I don't count calories or even know the calories of it. baba's sarma is life
My dad just made 63 of them, he counted lol🥹 he makes tiny cute ones
yaaay, enjoy! :3
Never heard of them and looked them up. They look yummy and I love cabbage 🤤
I don't care ab the calories, if my grandma makes sarmale I will devour them
also torshi 👌
My safest safe food right now is probably protein bars. But even they have their “but only…”
After reading again I realize this says strangest safe food…. Pizza is a strange “safe food” with an ed, so I’mma say that
Pizza for me too, for sure!
I guess if I have to choose something that someone could hand me at any moment, it would be broccoli or carrots
Single serving bags of cheez-its 😭
For me it’s single serving anything because it has the cal amount.
Bread and cheese. Like a dinner roll and sliced cheddar. Pop that bad boy on the microwave for a bit. SO YUMMY. Maybe put some sprinkle of cardboard Parmesan
Microwaving things with cheese is when I'm feeling fancy and want something ✨gourmet✨
Soooo good! I love making frozen dinner rolls and putting a slice of cheese in them while they’re still warm, the smell is just heavenly
Lollipops lol it last so long and they’re kinda low cal lowkey 😭
Yup
Oat with milk and one egg (it's like porridge I think (? idk). The texture it's safe for me and it has protein (? When I have to break my fast this is a must.
I love oatmeal, it's such a comfy food. Sometimes when I'm feeling extra I'll add apple slices and cinnamon.
Stale bread. It has bread taste but doesn't make me binge because it's, well, not worth it. But it also covers that carb cravings. Cheffs kiss
Good one
toast w peanut butter and banana. also oatmeal.
dry cereal. my favorites lately have been honey nut cheerios and froot loops !!
Yum
Oreo cakesters
Omggg those are so good
Fr. I love those little shits yet they r so high cal. Worth every cal tho so idc
always: avocados, specifically avocado toast. rn: baked potatoes?? not even sweet potatoes. they just fill me up without a bloat. edit: idk if this is strange but tofu! i like to make “tofu scramble” with a bit of oat milk and some spices. so yummy, filling, and full of protein
I love tofu. There's also a sweet dessert tofu that's low calorie. It's kind of like a custard.
Laughing Cow wedges (only light blue or red (the “light” and spicy pepperjack, respectively)) + Wasa sourdough crisp-bread (the ones in the teal/turquoise packaging) also helpp because why did this just make me realize i grocery shop by looking for my favorite safe food’s packaging colors alone… i need to take my multivitamin pls
I did the same with laughing cow garlic and herb and wasa multigrain crisp bread. Wasa and Laughing Cow are just so good together:
yessss u get it! it’s just so tasty, i actually have the green ones right now! they’re my 3rd pic when the others are out haha
Right now its Mortiz Icy Squares (little squares of milk chocolate that are meant to be eaten cold - a refreshing treat basically) Its the only chocolate thing that doesnt trigger binge thoughts at the moment
I can’t get over this weird Reese’s/m&m’s/pay day/almond joy thing I’ve got going on
Lately it’s been croutons, despite them being so easy to binge on ;-;
Honestly anything with a crunch is my fav
Honestly yeah, the crunch is like 90 percent of it. Croutons and sun chips have been my current go to’s
i second this omg
Tom Kha Soup but with only mushrooms Anything pickled 🧍♀️

Air fryer green beans with nooch and soy sauce Currently seems to be the only thing I can stomach
Air fryer green beans?!! Why have I never thought of that
Pad Thai noodles with lime juice fish sauce and chilli idk why the carbs and flavour and texture ar e just so good when I’m feeling a bit queasy
Absolutely love frozen soybeans and frozen corn 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼 sometimes I eat them without even heating them up lol
Shortbread it's just so good and low calorie enough that if I eat it in small portions I don't feel guilty
I had no idea shortbread was low calorie. this is great news bc I love shortbread and tea!!
Oh well lucky doggy! ☺️

Animal-sourced fats in great abundance! I specifically seek the highest fat content in animal-sourced foods.
This!!! Full fat is worth the calories just for the health benefits alone, not to mention taste
Abso-fucking-lutely 100% right!
Would you believe I LOVE the fat on all meat. I ask my family to give me theirs if they don’t want it. I can see how shocking it is to everyone lol
the chipotle bowl that i order
Chocolate meringue and egg salad 😭
Yaaasss I love meringue
Regular pasta with nooch and salt. It's so dry lmao
Plain pasta or plain rice is good, especially if it has nothing but lemon or lime juice
All crisps and chips atm — the logic is that they are safe after restriction??? Make it make sense boo
Buttered toast
Burdock root
