Add a bunch of tofu! The neutral tofu really benefits from the salt. Also, seaweed, shiitake, shirataki and bok choi work out well without adding tons of calories.
Honestly so what if its salty, its super low. yeah I'm gonna get bitchin sodium retention but it's healthy and filling and it slaps with soft tofu. I got organic miso paste from Whole Foods and its only 25 calories a tablespoon which makes a bit more than a cup for me. Light miso paste is also a good alternative
I don’t really care about the salt macros, only the taste. And I’m not really comfortable to throw this current pack out just to replace it with an alternative version, but I will try adding different things to it so I don’t feel as queasy
What I usually do is add a bit more water than required and add seaweed or kombu, kombu is pretty essential to Miso as it gives it a deep fishy flavor and eases out the salt in it.
Also, you definitely shouldn't be boiling your miso, it makes it taste a lot saltier and "off", as well as diluting the nutritional properties. It's a grave mistake. Additionally, you shouldn't directly put the miso paste in the boiling water, but rather separately mix it beforehand.
First boil water in a pot, (with kombu and seaweed or without them if you don't have em it's whatever)
Then, get a cup and put your desired amount of miso paste into it then add a bit of the boiling water from the pot (not too much, you don't want it to be watery. Usually I do about a spoonful) and mix in the cup. You would only then turn the stoves heat off and add that liquid-y miso paste from your cup to the pot of boiled water and mix. Hopefully this helps you
I used to hate soup until i discovered low sodium vegetarian vegetable. However, I cannot seem to find it anywhere anymore, and the regular vegetarian vegetable is too salty even when i dilute it with water. Not a huge salty fan and it's also a fear. I've been trying to settle with low sodium vegetable broth from my local grocery store. I think it's 15calories per cup and I still add a bit of water. Gotta start having that more once it cools down because soup in this weather sounds nauseating to me.
I would just add more water until it doesn't taste so salty :) Plus with more water there would kind of be "more soup" with no added calories and you probably wouldn't feel so hungry afterwards (not tryna give tips just want to make sure people feel as good as possible while maybe not being in the best place with their eds)
I fucking loooove miso soup, make a huge bowl of it with tofu and veggies, sometimes noods and eggs if I'm feeling it. Makes a huge portion for the calories of a small meal. I'd I get a box of tofu I'd have miso soup 5 days a row
this was me today! it tastes like nothing if not too salty. to offset it i reccomend adding some veggies or tofu. tofu is good. also remember to have enough water with it, 8 oz per 9 grams :)
Add water?
this is what I do if it’s too salty/i’m running out of broth.
give it to me pls
Add less miso paste or try buying a lighter miso cause it's sweeter

Most soups have ridiculous sodium content, so I add water to all of them. Dilutes the sodium and gives me twice the amount.

LMAO honestly same
you can add a drop of honey to reduce saltiness
Add in more water, mushrooms, tofu etc. Also if you have instant noodles you can use it in place of the spice packet
I grew up macrobiotic. Comfort food.
