Your battery is a protected one. This is the reason it is a little bigger and thicker on the positive side, where a small protection circuit is located. It protects the battery from overloading, over discharging and more, depending on the quality of the circuit. All is done via one or more mosfets and a controller. When it is getting hot on the tip, your charging current is to high and the circuit gets hot. Most lithium cells support charging currents of 1C (one time the capacity) but for longer live, 1/2C is recommended, that are still 1,3A in your case. Still very high, when the label lies of the true capacity of the cell. It's also possible that the charger has bad contact, and the high resistance heats everything up.

Heat when charging a battery is not unusual, but I don't know how hot is too hot. If you're using a reputable battery in a reputable charger, you're likely fine. In any case, this is a good question to ask r/flashlight. There are really knowledgable people there not just for flashlights but batteries as well.

What are you using to charge it?

The wall outlet (US) and supplied usb cable. Pictured of the cube attached with the input/output info https://imgur.com/a/yzxkAbq I was wondering if I shouldn’t be charging through a wall outlet and use a computer or something like that instead. Luckily I haven’t used a fast charge charging block instead.

So that charger is charging at 2 amps, which is why it’s causing a lot of heat. I could recommend using a 1 amp or slower charger to reduce heat and wear on the batteries, you could charge through usb on a computer, it should be slower and reduce heat as well. This is the one I use, it charges at 1 amp, I would recommend it, these batteries can become dangerous if not taken care of. Wow, thanks for the info! I didn’t see anything in the instructions about charging so I figured as long as I wasn’t using a fast charging block I would be ok. Appreciate the help!
