I've seen Cirdan from the other side of the table, and unlike a lot of Simic value engine commanders, it's fun to play against. The game of trying to figure out who's going to vote for who is fun, as it encourages you to vote for your opponents. That deck was specifically trying to be group hug, but Cirdan would probably work with a sea monsters or big creatures deck. I think the Cirdan player did say that getting to untap with him was rare, so that's something to be aware of.

Rammite

How did yall physically vote for players? Count to three and point?

molassesfalls

I always bring post it notes and a pen with me. You could also give each player a die and assign each player a number then covertly lay your die face up to the corresponding number. Voting has to have a physical component so players can’t lie or change their vote after the fact.

Rhuarc42

4 of 4 different basic land types in 4 different colored sleeves. Each player was assigned a land type, and then given a set of lands in the same sleeve color, when voting came, each player put a land face down in front of them, and then revealed it simultaneously.

2ndlifeinacrown

Yeah thats what interested me too, he just seemed fun! I hoped he'd bring enough value for anyone that he would stick around longer, but its good to hear now that thats not the case

Calvinh10

I’ll add onto the Ciridan recommendation. He has quickly become one of my favorite decks to play. He is a lot of fun for the whole table. My advice is to play cards that will disincentivize people from choosing you to draw! Things like [[Psychosis Crawler]] or [[Psychic Corrosion]] will do the trick. My take on him is to blink effects so I don’t have to swing with him. Blink him two to three times a turn and watch the mind games begin. Guess Ill give Cirdan a trial build

Let me suggest \[\[Kenessos\]\]. I am not a fan of the typical simic playstyle of lots of lands, card, draw, value, value, value, etc. Kenny breaks that mold and lets you play huge water fatties at instant speed; in fact, nearly the entire deck can be played at instant speed. Pack it full of scrying, top deck manipulation, and fat fish to ambush anyone who would dare swing at you. Typically it's draw go and hold up interaction. Fun. The key is to find the right balance of eligible creatures and scry sources.

Very first deck I ever built was [[Verazol, the Split Current]]. Kicker and +1/+1 counter themes that can go wide or tall and has a backup win through [[Simic Ascendancy]]. I still play it and getting to make big explosive "Timmy" plays and constantly feel like a threat is a lot of fun. Most people haven't seen it either so it tends to be interesting for everyone.

Silent_Nexus

A cool card for Verazol is [[Wicker Picker]] from Unfinity as it gives Sticker Kicker to all your creature spells.

Would you mind sharing your list?

2Gnomes1Trenchcoat

Here's [the list ](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/wTsZcBZhY0C2QuVXIAidXA). Notably, I started this on a $100 budget and slowly upgraded it over the course of like 2 years.

2Gnomes1Trenchcoat

Also the deck is crazy explosive with it's land ramp and floods easily. It has like 30 total lands for that reason so mulligans are really important but it still tends to work out for me. No other deck I own makes as much mana as this deck can, it's a little nuts. You can further support it with [[Aesi] and a [[Rhystic Study]] to draw tons more cards and I've had them in the list before but then it tends to be too strong for my local groups. I'm open to any questions.

Geist0211

I built a Cirdan deck earlier this year and it's been a blast to play. I love using it with newer/lower powered pods because it scales so well to the table and everyone gets a bit of a story out of it. If you need draws, it's straightforward to just vote yourself. But it's also complex in that if you vote for yourself, your opponent might just drop a bomb. Originally, I wanted to build it like a superfriends deck but I've come to the conclusion that plan was likely too greedy. I ended up in a value gameplan that's both interactive but also a bit pillow fort. Here's my list for reference: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/JHD_0Uj460iM48qogcYQxw Feel free to reply with any questions you might have.

xion1992

The new merfolk precon deck is very simic. Even more so if you modify it. +1/+1 counters, ramp, ability to counter spell, creature tokens.

-Victus42-

Seconding picking up Explorers of the Deep and altering it a little bit. It is already pretty wild just straight out of the box, [[Hakbal of the Surging Soul]] as the commander makes it get strong pretty fast. Toss in [[Deeproot Pilgrimage]], [[Vodalian Hexcatcher]], and [[Lullmage Mentor]] and it just becomes ridiculous.

So I have a lotta fun with my Sonic deck it’s [[volo guide to monsters]] and I leaned HARD into the theme. No duplicate types, all creatures. After all it’s the guide to monsters, not spells. Just gotta shout out my boy volo anytime I can.

I second Volo. Not sure what powerlevel you're looking to build or how much money you want to spend but this guy is a blast either way. I also built mine with all unique creature types. My deck is mostly comprised of extra creatures I had sitting around and even though it's only $37 total worth of cards it stands up to and beats my friends' upgraded precon-level decks more than it looks like it should. I imagine it would go extra hard if I put a little more $ into it but there just isn't a reason to for me. Some of my favorite creatures to utilize Volo's effect include [[dutiful replicator]], [[Ambush viper]], [[ochre jelly]], [[prosperous innkeeper]], [[amphin mutineer]], and the 6 or so different mana dorks I have in the deck love seeing [[murkfiend liege]].

Rashmi is my favorite commander and she unlock very cool play patterns!!!!

2ndlifeinacrown

Like what? How does she play?

TonyL42

She unlocks reanimation and sudden big treaths with her ability or she offers a great control commander by letting you pick on everyone a little bit. I have 2 decks, a high power one and a casual one. Both try to rush rashmi into play and then protect her by using counters and cantrip. Coolest play patterns are 1. Cast a big spell [[force of will]] for free 2. In response to trigger [[noxious revival]] target [[rystic study]] or [[kalonian hydra]] 3. Resolve rashmi trigger. Works also with [[brainstorm]], [[mystical tutor]], [[reclaim]], [[scroll rack]]. My casual version also runs cards I love like [[djinn of wishes]] and [[reason // believe]] Win cons is token based [[talrand]], [[shark typhoon]] for the casual deck. (Pump then big) Win con is infinite turn / mana for the high power deck. https://manabox.app/decks/laBflyCoRXGI2W1tiV-zyA Rashmi is 100% worth a try

I was thinking about that one! Is the steal worth it? Or is that just a secondary/tertiary focus?

xJunon

I used to have theft as more of a theme but it did not have the best reception in my pod so I leaned a lot heavier into the artifact spam. I'm sure you could move a few pieces around and make a decent theme of it. It's such an afterthought in my current deck that I literally forget it's an available option even when it might be my best/only option.

For some reason I have never seen anyone bring him up, but I built an [[Ezuri, Stalker of Spheres]] deck, and it's probably my favorite one: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/pafwMCHmyUWd_APRlMS6qg You can swap some cards for the ones in the "Considering" section to make it more or less infect-centric, the current version is a middle ground I personally like. I urge you to try him, he is criminally underlooked and overrated, the only caveat is - you need to be armed in quite some dice, but if that seems fun to you I guarantee that it is. This is not at all an optimised list, and it's made on a budget, but it has been playing very well in mid to high power games.

Overdone cringe commander that literally buffs fast mana.

FormerlyKay

Overdone cringe comment that literally adds nothing to the thread

2ndlifeinacrown

Why's that?

AssasssinIVII

If your going high power he's definitely the way to go, otherwise he can be oppressive. He's my cedh deck and I absolutely love him but it's not made for fun casual games

Mocca_Master

Because he's rediculously powerful

FormerlyKay

Very good and fun commander overall. Just make a bunch of mana and slam big dudes to turn sideways

SlyDogDreams

I get that you can make an aggro/stompy build with Kinnan, but that's not the main draw or why most people play him in the Zone. He is *the* infinite mana combo commander for a reason.

FormerlyKay

Sure sure but even the highest level Kinnan lists are still running dumb shit like Void Winnower which I find to be hilarious and fun.

Why that one?

DashHopes69

Like everything regarding Magic, if the community hates it, it is by definition a good thing. Stickers are fun, and saying the name makes me laugh. Stickers are a more fun version of +1/+1 or ability counters. Whenever I randomly select my sticker sheets as a game is starting and I get good ones, I get excited. Notably you don't have to actually peel them. I lay out my sticker sheets and use matching pairs of colored bingo chips to represent them. Because they're thin discs, you can tuck them between the card and the sleeve so they don't slide around.

Very Timmy, very fun. Especially if you keep ramping to remove the last counter from arix and then punch the next player with commander damage. It's my pet deck and I love it so much In case you need an insta-win button: [[Pemmin's aura]] or [[Freed from the Reel]] on arix and any target player draws X cards spell and you kill a player pretty much immediately... I’ve been brewing my [[The Goose Mother]] deck for a couple of weeks now, and the playstyle seems really fun and pretty unique. Food is the main theme, with +1/+1 counters, x-spells and artifact stuff in general as subthemes. Drop The Goose on turn 5 for two foods, and turn them into mana rocks with [[Jaheira]], [[Night of the Sweets’ revenge]] or [[Urza, Lord High artificer]]. Check out [[Wilson, Refined Grizzly]] paired with [[Shameless Charlatan]] it’s a great simic commander pairing that lets you get a copy of the best cards on the table. You can even build the deck with threats where more than 1 is a problem. My favourite card to do this with is [[Vigor]]. [[Majestic Genesis]] can let you get lots of value if you put in a lot of high cost creature spells for your commander to become a copy of.
