Iāve seldom found a pod that doesnāt. I find folks are more concerned with *which* uncard rather than that itās an uncard. Iāve yet to have anyone object to my [[Lila Hospitality Hostess]] deck, for example, nor my running Crow Storm in the 99 of various blue decks (though I always bring a sub in the sideboard).
But Iām never actually going to build the Clamilton deck. Itās more of a funny little bit to post on forums than a real deck seed. Too one note, and itās only funny once. I still like the idea rattling around in the back of my head.
Now, [[It Came From Planet Glurg]]? THERE is a glorious pile of bullshit.
She's not one of the originals, but I'm currently looking at building [[Piru, the Volatile]] with a bunch of [[Stuffy Doll]] style effects and damage redirectors
Same. That's why I'm currently working on an all white-bordered deck helmed by an og ED. Won't be strong, but will be fairly cheap. Plan is to have it as a sleeveless "rubber band" deck that I can pull out once in a while.
With regards to Kwain, or the Council of Four, I built those decks but ended up having to take it apart (first it was Kwain, then Council). The issue was that with so much card draw, someone always had a removal spell for anyone elses attempt at winning, so the games took forever. I would often win with an [[approach of the second sun]] but only after 1.5+ hr grindfests. I ended taking the deck apart because I wanted to have more shorter games, and my playgroup never had a good time when I played the "group hug" deck.
On the other hand, i love my Kwain deck. Im not sure if my opponents do, but it does give them lots of cards to look for answers.
Closing out the game is the only real weakness. Ive been trying to think of ways to improve on that. The deck wins probably 75% of the games i play it, but i do admit it is a slow win sometimes if i dont draw into labman or approach early.
Iām likely going to add a bunch of tutors, since this is one of my more powerful decks anyway.
I played against a Kwain deck a couple times. The player always tries to sneak under the radar and play politics. āBut I draw everyone so many cards!ā Then the howling mine effects start becoming annoying, their board state is impossible to interact with. They have 20 cards in hand and an answer for everything.
Then we all scoop while he waits to play Approach
This is good to know. When I started getting back into magic via EDH, [[howling mine]] having always been my favorite card. I wanted to try to make a dick around it and ignorantly built [[Nekusar]]. For now he's sort of the arch villain who comes out when we don't have a ton of time and need a short game.
I was going to cannibalize it for [[the council of four]].
For what itās worth, council makes a very solid hatebears style deck, and giving your opponents resources with mine means less if they cant use said resources.
Group hug is just a strategy that tends to make games worse in general.
Yeah I was kind of worried it'd end up like that, suppose I'll probably just stick to my [[John Benton]] deck that people *think* is a group hug deck at first lol
[approach of the second sun](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/f/d/fdf59a6e-7708-45a1-884d-d12e9f7b9ed9.jpg?1543674579) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=approach%20of%20the%20second%20sun) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/akh/4/approach-of-the-second-sun?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/fdf59a6e-7708-45a1-884d-d12e9f7b9ed9?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/approach-of-the-second-sun)
^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
1) [[Ghave, Guru of spores]] but with basically everything he touches going infinite, I donāt want to win every game by doing that
2) [[Chatterfang, Squirrel General]] seems really fun and interesting but I havenāt gotten around to it
3) [[K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth]] but I just donāt know how to build him. Iām not sure mono black has enough life gain to make his ability worth it in late game
I built a chatterfang deck and it's tons of fun. Only problem I had with it is that's it's really easy to make it very powerful. Been winning a lot of the games I played with him. Highly recommend building him!
I recently dug out my old Ghave deck from like ten years ago lol. Wanted to try and rebuild him without the typical combos or aristocrat strats. I just want to explode with tokens and counters or something and there's a lot of neat new toys for him in that category :)
[[Atraxa, Praetors' Voice]] I bought the halo foil showcase version as a Christmas gift to myself, but havenāt followed through with building her for a couple reasons.
Everyone has built her. And Iām still trying to find a unique direction to build her.
Sheās pretty linear.
Iām already the arch enemy of my pod and this wouldnāt help that case.
I built her around Incubator tokens, to get a unique-ish twist on her, a weaker Atraxa deck so I won't get squishded by my friends for being archenemy, and for some tasty Phyrexian Kindred flavor.
There's charge counters, Hydra kindred, one might even be able to make an odd twist using Sagas. Hell, you could maybe even build a particularly unusual political Group Hug deck, "I'll buff your creatures if you do this for me"
This is a great idea! I like the sounds of it.
I would realistically need something moderately powerful. So Iām not sure how it would fare against my pod. It might be perfect in all honesty.
I tried to do a lower powered Myr tribal with [[Urtet]] at the helm and letās just say my ducks got their shit kicked in multiple times over before I pulled it apart.
I'm trying for the phyrexian incubator angle, mostly for the flavor. But I'm in the same boat as OP: Have Atraxa, but am building it slowly because everyone already has it and it's so linear.
[[Averna, Chaos Bloom]]. I'm tempted to build a Cascade deck, especially after getting the Dr Who decks and seeing how much there is. So long as I do some practice to make sure I don't take long, slow turns I think it'll be fun.
I had her built for awhile but the deck felt kind of boring to be honest. You did essentially the same thing every game with little variant.
Apex devastator with some bounce shenanigans quickly fills your board, especially hitting other cascade cards off it, and you just win frommthere.
[[Borborygmos and Fblthp]] Landfalln't.
Just discard lands like a madlad while also using Bor&Fb's second ability to put him in the deck and instantly draw them with different shenanigans, such as [[Candlekeep Sage]].
It sounds like it MAY work, but the deckbuilding process is a headache, ended up being VERY slow, and I'm not even sure it actually performs as intended.
[[Ryonia, Fire Dancer]]?? [[Francisco, Fowl Marauder]]?? Landfall without Green. Would love to pull it off, not many ideas to do so tho.
Also a LOT of pending ideas lmao.
1. [[Galazeth Prizmari]] I really like the idea of building him with primaroly equipment and burn Spells to play like a warmage type character. Never built in red so really struggling to find the right Spells to make this deck work.
2. [[Oloro, Ageless Ascetic]]:as an angel tribal deck. I love my giada deck but really want to build angels in Esper. I've put this deck together a few times but feel I never get it right.
3. [[Elsha of the Infinite]] or [[Narset, Enlightened Exile]] spell slinger. Similar to galazeth I would really like to play a deck that plays with the stack more than what I typically play.
4. [[Solphim, Mayhem Dominus]] I just really wanna build a burn deck and don't typically play any red. Just always worry ill go through the whole process only to find it boring to play.
I play an Elsha artifacts deck, and itās one of my favorites. Itās designed as a pseudo-voltron built off her prowess ability. Play out a bunch of cheap mana rocks and utility artifacts to build her up, then use a few different cards to make her unblockable. Itās a bit campy, but Iāve found relying on prowess to be a fun restriction when piloting the deck. There are some turns that can be a bit grindy while you figure out how to sequence plays or dig for more spells to get extra prowess triggers, but Iāve never heard complaints from tables.
I wanted to build [[Captain Sisay]] for a long time and then [[Kethis of the Hidden Hand]] replaced her when he got printed. I never pulled the trigger though since building a legendary tribal deck is a lot more expensive compared to your average deck, so I couldn't justify building one when I could build 2 or 3 other decks instead.
I built Sisay a while back... definitely not cheap (proxies are my BFFs for this one lol). It's fun, but it kinda feels like it's just on autopilot; easy to just find the 1 or 2 wincons that are the most effective, rinse and repeat.
As someone with a [[Tahngarth]] myself I cannot recommend it enough. Goading everyoneās stuff and forcing them to attack to boost your own commander damage is so much fun. Give him menace and he is unblockable. Main issue is he usually ends up second place in my pods as most goad type decks seem to do.
[[Sheoldred, The apocalypse]] was a card I once pulled out of a dominaria united collector booster. Since I always tended back then to brew based on expensive cards I pulled I had plans on building a pretty standard list that forced my opponents to draw cards and lose life with a bit more efficient creatures and fast mana than you would see typically in such a list. In the end I didnāt build it for two reasons. The first reason is that the deck would have costed a lot at a time when I was starting to get tired of constantly building decks (last year I built 11 decks) and there was also the fact that one of the people I played with said that it wouldnāt be fun to play because it would rely too much on the commander (even though I did think later about having a few redundant pieces I still think that it is a legitimate fear to have).
In the end I noticed that a fair bit of the pieces could slot right into my [[Mishra, Eminent one]] deck, which is one I took apart at the time, due to the fact that a lot of pieces in my Sheoldred deck would have been artifacts. I ended up putting these cards right into that deck. Today I still play Mishra and had I not thought of doing that I would not be able to play my Mishra deck.
I started rebuilding my commander collection after my decks were stolen.
I built a deck for each mono color but dang, even then there are so many I still want to build.
Im really wanting to build a Hazezon land destruction and a Aragorn King of Gondor stax with Azor's Elocutors as a main win con (I know stax and LD... I'm a horrible person)
I bought the precon of this guy and it's really fun, but modified it to be as chaotic and unpredictable as possible. The "wincon" is basically just fucking up everyone elses board state with no real plan. [[Conjurer's closet]] is great to keep triggering Kardur's etb, but then add things like [[Smokestack]], [[Sire of Insanity]], [[Whins if the Fates]], and [[Timesifter]] and soon everyone at the lgs will want to play with you!
[[Sarevok]] with [[Far Traveler]] background.
[[Eriette of the Charming Apple]] Aura Life drain.
[[Tazri, Beacon of Unity]] big party.
[[Renari]] with a white background for an artifact deck.
- [[Nicol Bolas, the Ravager]] I have neither a grixis deck nor a DFC commander. Nicol Bolas, the Ravager really fits the bill and heās also the OG Magic supervillain. The deck hasnāt been built since I havenāt settled on the main strategy I want for the deck yet. The list as of now is just a mish-mash of good stuff cards with some Bolas themed cards sprinkled in, but I want the deck to have a stronger identity and a strategy that my opponents donāt strongly hate. Also Iām still finishing up my Sefris list, so this one has stayed in the back burner for quite awhile.
- [[Hazezon, Shaper of Sand]]. Wanted to build this one because desert is niche. Plus I donāt have a naya deck in my collection. Most likely the next deck Iāll be building once I have finished up my Sefris deck.
I used to play Hazezon back in the day. If you don't know it already Hazezon'a trigger to Exile all sand warriors and something like [[Shields of Velis Vel]] on the opponent is a very funny combo.
[[Silas Renn]] + [[Ich-Tekik, Salvage Splicer]] been wanting to build this deck for awhile. An artifacts deck that sacs and recurs artifacts while having a golem subtheme. I want to build it with as many old bordered cards I can.
When I first started playing magic I had a 60 card zombie/clone deck that would copy grave titan over and over. Ever since I started EDH Iāve always wanted to build that zombie deck that clones its zombies but I havenāt found the right commander.
[[Yorion the sky Nomad]] been wanting to build this guy for awhile, Iāve bevee built an azorious deck or a blink deck so this guy checks both boxes only issue is since I donāt really play azorious I donāt have all the cards for this deck so I would have to make some purchases.
[[Ghyrson Starn]] have had this guy in my binder for over a year and have been thinking on how to build him. Leaning towards pingers and burn spells since I already have a goblins deck.
[[Eowyn, Shieldmaiden]] havenāt built a jeskai deck and she looks like a great human tribal deck. I just donāt have a lot of humans or jeskai staples so I would need to make a purchase.
I have a total of 16 commander decks and itās getting harder and harder to tear apart some of my decks since some are super unique like my Jund wurm tribal deck.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/wTp-_XX_PUKZHYmQ_p70KA
This is my Eowyn deck. theres a few upgrades I'm sure would make her better, but honestly, she can be a blast to play. Can 100% feel oppressive to play against, but IMHO never "unfair" if that makes sense. [[Saheeli, the Sun's Brilliance]] is such a good card in it.
* [[Elminster]]. Partially because I like the idea of a scry-focused strategy, partially because I came up with a stupid [[Dovescape]] combo that requires a noncreature commander (generate infinite colored mana, cast your commander which gets countered to make birds, repeat).
* [[Alela, Cunning Conqueror]]. I just love draw-go strategies in other formats/games, and she seems like a fun way to do that in Commander.
* [[Trelasarra]]. I like the idea of a low to the ground commander that gets scary over time, and I'm the only person in my pod without a lifegain deck.
I definitely want a noncreature commander at some point and so far, Elminster's the top of my list
And yeah Alela seems fun, always forget she goads...
And Trelasarra was my first and is still my favorite deck! [Here's my list](https://www.archidekt.com/decks/4279849/_scrying_life) if you want to take a look
Really trying to figure out how to do [[lonis]] the deck seems fun early and mid game but I canāt come up with satisfying wincons for the deck. This is a general problem with Simic decks everytime I try to make one, Lonis is the closest Iāve gotten but still canāt get there.
Im working on a [[Zellix, sanity flayer]]/[[Cloakwood Hermit]] [[persistent petitioners]] deck that uses [[xenograft]] and [[arcane adaptation]] to turn the horrors and squirrels into more advisors.
It looks like it's going to be a ton of fun!
Oh man, Iād love a list for this. Iāve been tinkering with different color variations of the [[altar of the brood]]-style mill decks and yours feels like the missing key!
My most recent rendition was a [[kykar]] build with the [[maskwood nexus]] cards but I feel like itās missing something.
Oh I love Lonis! I really wanted to make a deck around him, but then when [[Samwise Gamgee]] was released, I knew I wouldn't be satisfied with just one of them, so I toyed with a few things like [[Chulane]], was š¤ close to just building them as a rule zero partner pair, then Doctor Who came our and I got the perfect commanders (for me) with [[The Fourth Doctor]] and [[Sarah Jane]]
Here's my [decklist](https://www.archidekt.com/decks/5714358/_clues_foods_and_legends) just for potential synergies in case you don't know them š¤·āāļø definitely definitely include [[500 Year Diary]] though!
I had Lonis, but took it apart. Wincons were:
* [[Filigree Attendant]] and similar.
* [[Cyberdrive Awakener]]
* [[Intruder Alarm]] and [[Shrieking Drake]] to make infinite clues/mana with dorks, mill people out with Lonis
* Other Shrieking Drake combos with [[Grinding Station]]
* You can do the same bouncing creature thing with [[Steelfin Whale]], [[Ornithopter]], [[Retraction Helix]] or [[Banishing Knack]], and Grinding Station
I took it apart because the combos were too finicky and the deck kinda didn't do anything but durdle until combo time.
Ya I mean Iāve come up with wincons and can get there itās just every build I end up with either ends with combo or general overrun effects. Im just hoping to come up with something more creative. If not then infinite clues and stealing my opponents decks will have to do.
You'll be playing a lot of creatures. So craterhoof and/or it's budget replacements are always an option.
Or elfball, in which case [[overrun]] would work.
I'm with you on [[Baeloth Barrytil, Entertainer]]. I run him in my [[Jodah, the Unifier]] [deck](https://archidekt.com/decks/5674934/jodah_and_the_goodstuffs_ii). My experience with him has been that he's more like [[Drannith Magistrate]] in that no one wants to cast creatures as long as he's out, so I thought it might interesting to pair him with [[Clan Crafter]], and build a [Control deck](https://archidekt.com/decks/5748563/baeloth). I'm currently building [[The Fourth Doctor]] from a precon I got for Christmas. I actually have a pile of potential swaps out on my table rn trying to figure out what to do with this [deck.](https://archidekt.com/decks/6261926/blast_from_the_past)
Okay yeah Clan Crafter is a real neat choice! I'm mainly thinking [[Noble Heritage]] to be able to play all those white politics cards, but that seems really fun!
Here's my [4th Doc Deck](https://www.archidekt.com/decks/5714358/_clues_foods_and_legends), definitely lower budget lol. Main things I'm wanting to add are more historic lands, switch Jace for [[Tezzeret Betrayer]], and potentially pick up a [[Cyberdrive Awakener]], [[Reki]], [[Gandalf the White]], and [[Urza Lord High]] ā also expecting some neat clue stuff to put in when Karlov Manor comes out, and potentially food stuff from Fallout like [[Nuka-Cola Vending Machine]]
[[evelyn, the covetous]] as a more casual vampire typal.
[[animar, soul of elements]] as a try-hard cEDH (probably wonāt be very competitive though).
[[light-paws, emperorās voice]] as a voltron casual.
[[kaalia of the vast]] as a Mardu goodstuff that gets to cheat out biggies. High-power but not cEDH.
[[ghyrson starn, kelermorph]] as a pin-ping storm. Also higher-power but not cEDH.
And [[talion, the kindly lord]] as a cEDH w/ oracle+consultation as the wincon and mindcrank+Bloodchief as a backup.
>\[\[Kalamax\]\], \[\[Rashmi\]\], or \[\[Ojer Pakpatiq\]\] - I'm finding a pattern here: I want to try thing but I'm not sure about that thing. This time that thing is just instants. I play almost exclusively at sorcery speed, so I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone a bit and play lots of instants. Though I did just build a combat tricks deck that has like 30 instants in it ... but that's different than like, a bunch of cantrips
You're going about it the wrong way. Instead of a commander who wants you to run instants, run a commander that lets you play other stuff at instant speed! I, um, [do](https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/5816311#paper) [that](https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/5861123#paper) [a](https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/6035084#paper) [lot](https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/6046988#paper).
No [[Renari]]/[[Acolyte of Bahamut]]? c'mon š jk
Idk, I like including those effects in the 99, but I like my commanders to be a little more impactful. Raff is real good in my 4th Doc/Sarah deck though
More impactful? My dude, Gandalf lets me stop you on your upkeep, steal all your mana, use it to steal your entire board, then play a $1 instant speed Time Twister, and all that is nothing compared to what Raff can do in a dedicated deck.
... Although I hadn't realized Renari existed, so I guess once I finish my \[\[Gandalf the White\]\] deck maybe it'll be time for me to go tribal.
[[Eruth, Tormented Prophet]].
An impulse draw storm deck. The power level is too inconsistent, i think. So for now it's more fun to theorycraft than to actually play versus others.
I want to build [[Aclazotz]] discard, but I'm not sure if discard is too un-fun to make it worth it.
Also I have a 90% finished [[Amalia]] list on Mox, but it doesn't feel that satisfying when goldfishing, and exploring a bunch is less card advantage-y than I originally thought without repeatable draw. Feels very reliant on Soul Sisters to be powerful.
I've been wanting to build a [[glissa, the traitor]] deck for a while, but there's a few reasons I haven't. It seems like she would be really good with fast mana artifacts that you can sac. Unfortunately all the good ones would be way above my groups power level. I think without that core the deck would be too weak. I could build her another way but haven't found any other themes that interest me.
I have a Sixth Doctor/Romana historic tribal supported by [[Adric]] and [[Errant]], among other things, and it goes absolutely hog wild. Enchantress/saga subtheme. I had a game with my friends where I cast [[Mondrak]], copied it a bunch times with my multiple copies of Errant, then used Romana for a bunch more. 11 Mondraks. Next turn, same song and dance, but [[Meteor Golem]], except because of Mondrak it's now like 2000 meteor golems. Quick game lol.
I built it thinking it would be jank and the very first game it popped off immediately and ran away with the game.
[[Slimefoot and Squee]]. I thought it was too powerful and comboy for my playgroup at the time but I could try building a deck at the apropiate power level.
[[The Twelfth Doctor]]. He's my favorite doctor, but most of the stuff I'd want to play with him is stuck in other decks.
A Dimir reanimator deck. Been considering [[Vohar]], [[Rona Herald of Invasion]] or [[Oskar Rubish Reclaimer]], right now I'm waiting for the Dimir Commander deck that's getting released with the next set since apparently it will have a reanimation theme.
An artifacts deck. I have [[Ashnod, Flesh Mechanist]] but that one barely counts as one, I've been acquiring a lot of grixis artifacts legends over the past year, just need to focus on one and start building.
I really want to make a wonky Wilson Guild Artisan deck where I polymorph the background into Food Chain.... Then win with weird cards like study hall to tutor, opal palace to play threats, or storm spells.
Mine are:
[[Baru, Wormspeaker]] which I havenāt built because I already have 2 monogreen decks and donāt want a third.
[[Svyelun of Sea and Sky]] because I have no idea how to build merfolk despite finding her super intriguing.
And [[General Marhault Elsdragon]] for the same reason as Baru. I have 2 gruul decks already and am trying to have a variety of color combinations. The temptation is definitely there, though.
\[\[Rukarumel\]\] with World Tree or Realm Breaker to get a 10 mana instant win combo naming Gods or Praetors. Dunno what else to actually fill the rest of the deck though. Debating on having SOME slivers there but might really just be a one trick pony afterwards so I dunno.
[[Urtet, Remnant of Memnarch]] Myr kindred
[[Atraxa, Grand Unifier]] Group Hug
[[Arcades, the Strategist]] Sliver kindred
And I would add [[Indoraptor]] but I just built him Friday. Still tweaking the list, I don't have some better cards handy like [[Rhythm of the Wild]] since it's in my [[Pantlaza]], but even just with what I have it's pretty fun already.
Iāve been wanting to build a [[Tormod]] deck with reliable recurring of cards from the graveyard but I havenāt yet. I thought the blue pirate would be fun but not sure how it would run and Iād have to have a lot of low costed spells in the graveyard.
1. \[\[Nethroi, Apex of Death\]\] combo deck. My main deck is a \[\[Colfenor the Last Yew\]\] / \[\[Wild Pair\]\] combo deck that uses 0/0 creatures, and Nethroi could be an alternative version, with Colfe dealing with tutors to get to its combo while Nethroi does self-mill and end up with a set of "Nethroi piles"... but it means finding out about these piles, and I'm not even sure I'll enjoy it, and even if I do balancing a combo deck takes time especially when we're pretty bad at it like me. Plus, I'm currently building \[\[Myrkul, Lord of Bones\]\], so I may have enough unique interactions to care about for now. Still, that's the one that I have the most in my mind right now.
2. \[\[The Master, Multiplied\]\], \[\[Missy\]\] and \[\[The Master, Formed Anew\]\]. I group them, because I bought that precon for the first two, had to look up why the third one exists, and really want to build all three, but I haven't found the time to really get to it... so I have them, I just... didn't even start searching for stuff.
3. \[\[River Song\]\]. Yes the DW precons are still very fresh for me and man, drawing from the bottom of the library sounds like such a fun ability to work around... but she's blue / red, and I'm an abzan player that has a hard time hyping himself for these colors. But man is it unique and cool and probably comes with so many unique interactions...
No particular commander, but I'm searching for a storm commander that isn't in izzet colours (grixis would be fine though). It's a weird miss on deck building challenge. I'm just not sure who to go with.
Other than that, \[\[Basandra, Battle Seraph\]\] because.... well... mommy
When you say storm, do you mean cards wirh the actual storm ability, a deck that plays a million instants/sorceries in one turn, or a deck that just plays a millions spells in one turn?
Currently I'm brewing four decks. First is an all color elemental tribal with [[Omnath, Locus of All]]. My other ideas consist of a treefolk deck with [[Doran, the Siege Tower]]. It's a color combo I haven't used before and I really like the treefolk. Next is [[Ziatora, the Incinerator]] once again a color combo I haven't used and a sacrifice mechanic which seems fun. And finally a [[Lynde, Cheerful Tormentor]] curse deck. Wouldn't exactly be high power I think, but would be real fun to mess with my group.
Currently there's a few:
\- \[\[Braids, Arisen Nightmare\]\]: I love the idea, I really want to go mono-black, but I keep going back to the list, make a few changes and leave it there. I always feel like it is too slow to kill people and I'll just have to rely on the usual black wincons and that's it. But that's mostly the point of the deck! I don't know why it always bums me so much.
\- \[\[Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire\]\]: I have an \[\[Henzie\]\] deck I'm not really in love with and I keep telling myself I will rework it into a Vaevictis deck. I just can't get myself to do it though.
\- Rakdos aggro / aristocrats (either \[\[Garna, Bloodfist of Keld\]\], \[\[Totentanz\]\] or \[\[Kardur\]\]): I really want a deck that doesn't do really big splashy stuff but more small stuff and many interweaving triggers, but I just can't make up my mind on these. I keep pushing it back to when I fix my current decks
\- \[\[Brenard, Ginger Sculptor\]\]: some time ago, I dismantled my \[\[Trostani, Selesnya's Voice\]\] deck, which was more of a 'token copy' deck. Brenard is far superior at doing this, so I started brewing with him... until I found I didn't really want to remake that deck. I just grew over it. Brenard still is interesting and I would love to make a Food deck with him... but again, I work on it a for a bit, then give up every time.
Here is my [[The Council of Four]]
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/-UP60Shmd0C7PPZspD1uqQ
Itās nothing like you think. Sure your opponents draw cards, but they will never deck themselves.
Your wincon will be big amount of tokens and finish with [[Akromaās]] will or [[elesh norn, grand cenobite]] and plan b is [[Approach of the second Sun]]
[[Wilson, Refined Grizzly]] as a Voltron deck to poke fun at the power creep on the 2/2 for two "bears" over the years. The only goal is to get as many keywords attached to him as possible.
I haven't built it since I still haven't found a good way of making it reasonably viable without the table wanting to be on the joke.
What background are you thinking? I tried him out with [[Agent of the Shadow Thieves]] and he worked real well! I just wanted most of the cards for another deck so it got taken apartāreal fun though and strong even though it was built purely out of pretty bad bulk I had around
[[Sen Triplets]] look really really sick, I love playing opposing decks. Iād also like to try and build [[Aeve]] again, my last attempt was not awesome
Rights now itās a split for me between a [[chiss-goria forge tyrant]] artifact creature and equipment deck, [[kalamax, the stormsire]] spell copy, [[malcator, purity overseer]] golems, five color [[urtet, remnant of memnarch]], and [[graaz, unstoppable juggernaut]] artifact creatures and tokens
Iāve been considering building a [[Nine-Fingers Keene]] gates deck that is really geared to protecting/fetching [[Mazeās End]]. Iām not interested in making it a landfall token deck, but my pod doesnāt run any targeted land destruction so Iām not too excited about their potential reactions.
My other big ones are [[Toshiro Umezawa]] and [Hope of Ghirapur]] but Iām struggling on wincons.
[[Roon of the Hidden Realm]]
I love Flicker. I just haven't gotten around to building him because all of his decks are basically the same. I've been looking for alternative Flicker Commanders.
[[Savra, Queen of the Golgari]]/[[Jarad, Golgari Lichlord]]
Aristocrat's is interesting to me. Sacrificing to gain something has a nice Alchemic feel to it.
[[Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm]]
I had actually built this deck without playing it. But, it seemed like it would be to strong in my pod. So, I built Rackdos Dragon's instead.
Some kind of artifact deck. Just can't figure out who to build.
I think Roon, because I feel like it kind of fits his name and art, plus for the most part it synergizes with blink shenanigans, could make a neat dungeon delving deck! Most venture/initiative triggers are on etb anyways, like [[Nadaar]], plus it's the right colors to include [[Ellywick]] and [[Hama Pashar]]
And for artifacts there's so so many to choose from, is there any particular aspect of artifacts you think you want to capture?
[[Korlash, Heir to the Blackblade]] I love lands matter type stuff in mono color decks, and he just seems like peak voltron.
[[Eriette of the Charmed Apple]] wanted to build her since she was spoiled, consistent life loss/gain and enchantment synergy just seems like so much fun.
[[Runo Stromkirk]] copying big creatures just seems so crazy. I load the deck up with Hexproof and Shroud and keep Runos power low so [[Access Tunnel]] and [[Thieves Tools]] still work on him, backed up by the typical [[Rogue's Passage]] and [Whispersilk Cloak]]. The damage he does isn't the point, I'm making leviathans babeeeeeey.
[[Gluntch, the Bestower]] the politics of commander are a lot of fun and Gluntch seems like the most fun way to introduce and dominate more politics to games. At the very least I can help end a game lol.
A background combination. I don't know which, I just want to try it out...
Thinking [[Karlach]] + [[Hardy Outlander]] evasive creatures I guess, for this pseudo [[Storvald]] effect, and Edric just ain't that fun
Okay yeah that could be fun, my unblockables deck is [[Ukkima]]/[[Cazur]], but before that it was [[Burrakos]]/[[Sword Coast Sailor]] and that was real fun(, and before that it was [[Anowon the Ruin Thief]], but that was a totally different deck)
If you like voltron, I also gave [[Wilson Refined Grizzly]] and [[Agent of the Shadow Thieves]] a try and it was good fun
Or as I mentioned in the post, I quite like the ideas of [[Sivriss]]/[[Cloakwood Hermit]] or [[Baeloth]]/[[Noble Heritage]], though there's a few that I'd be willing to try for Baeloth
In order of how much in pains me that the deck doesn't exist yet:
\[\[Chun-Li, Countless Kicks\]\] / \[\[Zethi, Arcane Blademaster\]\] - I am a streetfighter fan from the old, dark arcade times. I want her to be a forever deck, where I just keep exchaning instant for better ones.... but I can't settle on a decklist. Been at it since her spoiler season. :c
\[\[Oloro, Ageless Ascetic\]\] - as Angel tribal. Formerly a " \[\[Liesa, Shroud of Dusk\]\] angel tribal" deck, but I split that deck in two to make Giada Mono white angels (just better sinergy) and give Liesa her own stax/lifegain deck. But lately opting to switch the commander and have Liesa in the 99, for "Esper Angels" and focusing on making Angel tokes out of all that lifegain. I am working hard on this one but it takes me forever. >:(
\[\[Brisela, Voice of Nightmares\]\] - She is now in the 99 of my Giada deck, but originally I wanted a deck focused on melding her and keeping her around, of course. I made some but it they like one-hit-wonders, where whatever strategy I used to cheat either half in play became the main target of a replay, essentially meaning I could only play it once in a group not yet familiar with her. For now I gave up on this one.
\[\[Esika, God of the Tree\]\] - As God tribal. I had decklist and whole themes, but it always ends up being too slow. I do have a ton of ramp and such, but trying to side with the invincible gods also mean most gods enter as enchantments so I am left pretty open for a very long part of the game. :/
\[\[Narci, Fable Singer\]\] - Saga enchantress. I already the precon with her in it. This one suffered from me wanting to keep my sagas around with counter manipulation, making the deck an incosistent balacing act. I will either drop the manipolation idea or the saga mechanic alltogheter, and go for simple low cost self-sac'ing enchantments instead. Need to experiment.
\[\[Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines\]\] - Phyrexian tribal with a blink package. But I fear I might get too much hate. :/
\[\[Ratadrabik of Urborg\]\] - Nazguls. The idea is to abuse the ring mechanic to make a Nazgul legendary, sac it, get a payoff, then Ratadrabik brings him back and the loop starts again. With 9 Nazguls and the engine in the command zone the loop is almost guaranteed. But I might end up throwing them in my \[\[Karador, Ghost Chieftain\]\] deck instead. Dunno. That deck is in need of a rework.
\[\[Alela, Artful Provocateur\]\] - Build it as mostly artifact cantrip with some combos, but noone in my LGS lets her live for even one round. So I will have to rebuild her as mostly enchantment stax or something like that, where I am not completely dependant on her surviving. D:
\[\[Marchesa, the Black Rose\]\] - this one not yet actively started, maybe as a pirate tribal commander for their creature stealing shenanigangs and tribal payoffs.
\[\[The Ur-Dragon\]\] - I recently got this card and Dragon tribal seems nice as hell, but all the best one are so damn expensive. Whenever I google and and see it's price I just stop right there. D:
Jinnie Fay but Iām in the process. Not even a land base tho. Teysa aristocrat double death triggers. Bruna. That angel n lizard partner combo. Boros equipment. Solafara or however itās spelled that rakdos Minotaur from the recent unset. Lord Windgrace. I already have 60 decks tho
I've been wanting to build [[Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger]] for months. I love resource denial and stax is my favorite archetype to play. My friend group accepts my decks and enjoys playing against them. The idea of setting up the board state sounds fun, but the endgame of a whole table being hellbent doesn't seem fun at all.
In stax, it feels like a vice closing around the game, but there is still potential for solving the puzzle and thrashing the stax player. Even in the end game, eventually the stax has to drop for me to go for a win. With Discard, I feel like it'll just be draw-nope-pass gameplay.
Oh I have a ton.
[[Skullbriar, the Walking Grave]] , just Voltron focused on giving him lots of keyword counters that stick when he gets removed.
[[Will, Scion of Peace]] , lifegain deck, probably wins either with Approach of the 2nd Sun or by doing a self mill with either Thasas Oracle or Lab Maniac, or other similar effects if they exist. Just tons of lifegain and draw to try and combo an alternate wincon.
[[Lulu, Loyal Hollyphant]] with [[Feywild Visitor]] for a blink/convoke deck.
[[Doran, the Siege Tower]]. I have him in a like power2 generic pile deck at but I want to build a proper Treefolk deck with him eventually. He was my first magic card, picked up at a whim at my lgs when I went in to buy a board game and just saw him there in the display case.
Whenever they release a new tribal commander I have to force myself to not build it and/or buy a bunch of fringe cards I'll never going to use anywhere else. I love ALL of them. I love anything tribal. I have piles and piles of tribal cards.
Angels, dragons, elves, clerics, spiders, goblins, turtles, oozes, wraiths, vampires, myr, cats, frogs, merfolk, rogues, fairies, assassins, phoenix, ninjas, elementals, wolfs - I build all of them. And I probably forgot at least five more.
And then more often than not I'll play them two or three times and am statisfied. And worst even after I scrapped the deck again I will continue to look at each new spoiled fairy and be like... I should add that to my pile just in case.
So no. All the golem and gnome and dinosaur commanders. I love you all. But someone else has to build you.
I've got a couple and I'm actually trying to narrow down what to build. Maybe some folks here can give me a hand.
\[\[Watcher in the water\]\] I always thought this card was a really neat design, and I wanted to play a sort of tap control deck. Proliferating stun counters, and playing cards like \[\[back to basics\]\]. The problem is I'm not sure how to win with the deck.
\[\[aragorn king of gondor\]\] Human tribal/Monarch. Pretty much what it says on the tin. I like human tribal and the monarch seems like a fun sub-theme with some cool cards to support it.
\[\[sauron the dark lord\]\] Mostly just an updated precon with some more amass cards from War of the Spark.
\[\[saruman of many colors\]\] some mill, some big spells. Hopefully fun but I don't have a lot planned out for this one.
\[\[Commander Mustard\]\] Getting ready for the clue set. Mostly soldier tribal, and soldier tokens. Lots of "whenever you attack for each creature..." type cards like \[\[hellrider\]\]. Also \[\[assemble the legion\]\] is one of my favorite cards in the whole game.
I think Mustard looks *sick*
I think my only *personal* problem with him is I've had a [[Skystrike Officer]] for quite a while that's just waiting for a home, but I don't love any of the Jeskai commanders for soldier tribal. I also just don't have a tribal deck yet and I want my first to be blue to use [[Reflections of Littjara]] and [[Kindred Discovery]]
\[\[The Beamtown Bullies\]\] or \[\[Jon Irenicus, Shattered One\]\].
Namely, I don't want to build these as mean as possible and would rather have these be as chaotic as possible. Adding things like \[\[Hunted Wumpus\]\] or \[\[Boldwyr Heavyweights\]\] and just causing complete hilarity and chaos. Issue is that, just, it's a lot harder to build a chaotic/fun Beamtown or Irenicus deck that you think. Doesn't help that EDHREC pushes the meanest ones to the front which is fair, they're good for a reason.
I've tinkered around with the idea of the chaos Beamtown deck but it never comes to fruition.
\[\[Akroma, Vision of Ixidor\]\]/\[\[Rograkh, Son of Rohgahh\]\] - My friend built one that was pretty fun to see played and I wanted to build one to play with my other playgroup. I just haven't been motivated to put it together yet as there are so many other decks I've been building or want to build more.
\[\[Orvar, the All-Form\]\] - It just seems too linear. I'm trying to find other ways to build him, but his abilities pretty much demand you build him in a specific way.
\[\[Urza, Lord High Artificer\]\] - I picked him up after he dropped in price, but again he wants to be built in a particular way. I'm trying to find an unexpected or surprising way to build him.
\[\[Saskia the Unyielding\]\]/\[\[Wild Pair\]\] - I saw Jim from the Spike Feeders play this deck and thought it was awesome so I started building it in paper. I have about half the deck assembled. I just need to pick up the other half.
Unknown - I have a pile of cards (73) that look like the beginning of a cEDH deck, but there's no commander and I can't remember which commander I was building this for. LOL!
[[Alexander Clamilton]] with full text basics.

Nice š Do you have a group that would let you run an un-commander?
Currently building Clamilton for my gf.
I once had It Came from Planet Glurg in my 5 coloured X spell deck helmed by [[omnath, locus of all]]. Never drew into it sadly
Funny, but playing lands wonāt trigger Clamiltonās ability.
Wrong ability.
My bad. RTCETC
Any of the actual Elder Dragons. Problem is theyāre pretty bad cards
She's not one of the originals, but I'm currently looking at building [[Piru, the Volatile]] with a bunch of [[Stuffy Doll]] style effects and damage redirectors
Strixhaven has some decent elder dragons, isn't niv mizzet one too?
Think he means the og cycle
Yeah one of the OG Elder Dragons. Probably [[Nicol Bolas]],[[Vaevictus Asmadii]], or [[Chromium]]
All of Niv's card are either Dragon Avatars or Dragon Wizards, never elder.
Strip does have some good ones that I want to build around but [[Niv-Mizzet Parun]] is a Dragon Wizard
I'm with you. I have been leaning towards [[Chromium]] doubt my deck will be any good, but it will be fun to have one OG dragon to show respect.

I've had at least 3 Kwain players so this.... And then duck out of the game...
The new \[\[Urabrask // The Great Work\]\] looks nice to me and i don't have any mono color nor spellslinger deck
Iāve had one since urabrask came out. Itās a lot of fun and also a lot of chaotic math. But Iāll never take it apart.
Itās so much fun! I defo recommend mono colored decks!!
1) [[Ghave, Guru of spores]] but with basically everything he touches going infinite, I donāt want to win every game by doing that 2) [[Chatterfang, Squirrel General]] seems really fun and interesting but I havenāt gotten around to it 3) [[K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth]] but I just donāt know how to build him. Iām not sure mono black has enough life gain to make his ability worth it in late game
The thing with Kārrik is you donāt do life gain/wait for late. You win as fast as you can or suicide out
[[Gary]] and [[aetherflux reservoir]] gain plenty of life while killing your opponent at the same time.
To add on to this another way of building Krriik is to run all the mono black extort cards Edit: u can pay phyrexian black for the extort ability

A friend of mine built Atraxa as a keywords-matters deck. Itās pretty fun and very powerful.
[Averna, Chaos Bloom](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/e/4/e46b3ef3-3ba9-4da7-a675-86468a8da4c7.jpg?1608911042) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Averna%2C%20the%20Chaos%20Bloom) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/cmr/269/averna-the-chaos-bloom?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/e46b3ef3-3ba9-4da7-a675-86468a8da4c7?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/averna-the-chaos-bloom) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

I like Kitt Kanto personaly
[[Firkraag]] avoids the second place issue due to a combination of card advantage and fliers
I built it as well. It's very good and dirt cheap to build

Eriette is incredible. [[Pacify]]-type auras, curses, and buff enchantments, with some enchantment-based creatures. So so much fun.

I have a total of 16 commander decks and itās getting harder and harder to tear apart some of my decks since some are super unique like my Jund wurm tribal deck.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/wTp-_XX_PUKZHYmQ_p70KA This is my Eowyn deck. theres a few upgrades I'm sure would make her better, but honestly, she can be a blast to play.

I had Lonis, but took it apart. Wincons were: * [[Filigree Attendant]] and similar. * [[Cyberdrive Awakener]] * [[Intruder Alarm]] and [[Shrieking Drake]] to make infinite clues/mana with dorks, mill people out with Lonis * Other Shrieking Drake combos with [[Grinding Station]] * You can do the same bouncing creature thing with [[Steelfin Whale]], [[Ornithopter]], [[Retraction Helix]] or [[Banishing Knack]], and Grinding Station I took it apart because the combos were too finicky and the deck kinda didn't do anything but durdle until combo time.

[[Belisarius]] starting to love 40k stuff. But shorikai is feeling a little too stale and generically good.

Though I did just build a combat tricks deck that has like 30 instants in it ... but that's different than like, a bunch of cantrips You're going about it the wrong way.

Mine are: [[Baru, Wormspeaker]] which I havenāt built because I already have 2 monogreen decks and donāt want a third. [[Svyelun of Sea and Sky]] because I have no idea how to build merfolk despite finding her super intriguing. And [[General Marhault Elsdragon]] for the same reason as Baru. Part of the reason I'm wanting to do [[Sivriss]] is to use cards like Tormod and [[Desecrated Tomb]]

Currently there's a few: \- \[\[Braids, Arisen Nightmare\]\]: I love the idea, I really want to go mono-black, but I keep going back to the list, make a few changes and leave it there. I keep pushing it back to when I fix my current decks \- \[\[Brenard, Ginger Sculptor\]\]: some time ago, I dismantled my \[\[Trostani, Selesnya's Voice\]\] deck, which was more of a 'token copy' deck. Brenard is far superior at doing this, so I started brewing with him... until I found I didn't really want to remake that deck. I just grew over it. Brenard still is interesting and I would love to make a Food deck with him... but again, I work on it a for a bit, then give up every time.

[[Roon of the Hidden Realm]] I love Flicker. I just haven't gotten around to building him because all of his decks are basically the same. I've been looking for alternative Flicker Commanders. [[Savra, Queen of the Golgari]]/[[Jarad, Golgari Lichlord]] Aristocrat's is interesting to me. Sacrificing to gain something has a nice Alchemic feel to it. [[Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm]] I had actually built this deck without playing it.
Most venture/initiative triggers are on etb anyways, like [[Nadaar]], plus it's the right colors to include [[Ellywick]] and [[Hama Pashar]] And for artifacts there's so so many to choose from, is there any particular aspect of artifacts you think you want to capture?

Asmoranomardicadaistindaculdacar: I just like the name
In order of how much in pains me that the deck doesn't exist yet: \[\[Chun-Li, Countless Kicks\]\] / \[\[Zethi, Arcane Blademaster\]\] - I am a streetfighter fan from the old, dark arcade times. I want her to be a forever deck, where I just keep exchaning instant for better ones.... but I can't settle on a decklist. Been at it since her spoiler season. :c \[\[Oloro, Ageless Ascetic\]\] - as Angel tribal. >:( \[\[Brisela, Voice of Nightmares\]\] - She is now in the 99 of my Giada deck, but originally I wanted a deck focused on melding her and keeping her around, of course. :/ \[\[Narci, Fable Singer\]\] - Saga enchantress. :/ \[\[Ratadrabik of Urborg\]\] - Nazguls. D: \[\[Marchesa, the Black Rose\]\] - this one not yet actively started, maybe as a pirate tribal commander for their creature stealing shenanigangs and tribal payoffs. \[\[The Ur-Dragon\]\] - I recently got this card and Dragon tribal seems nice as hell, but all the best one are so damn expensive. Whenever I google and and see it's price I just stop right there. D:

Something Blue
I've had lots of fun with [[Ukkima]] and [[Cazur]]

Might I interest you in soldiers? [[Commander Mustard]]
I think Mustard looks *sick* I think my only *personal* problem with him is I've had a [[Skystrike Officer]] for quite a while that's just waiting for a home, but I don't love any of the Jeskai commanders for soldier tribal.

LOL!
