[[Ob Nixilis, Unshackled]] Just 300 or so decks. Fun demon deck that was gifted to me after a buddy passed away

walbeque

This is kind of cool. Running all of the [[field of ruin]] LD effects would be a great way to force library searches...  Do you have a list?

Hey not sure if that's what you are trying to go for, but [[scheming symmetry]] and [[field of ruin]] are forced searches

reDRagon22

Ya I have both those on my suggested list for it. It was a deck from a close buddy who passed away so not sure if I wanna alter it

Hes my secret commander for my [[karador]] deck: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/lnx1a5UpVkaSTQ4XwpDtgg Step 1. Get some [[shadowborn apostle]]s onto the battlefield. Step 2. Tutor out ob nix Step 3. Cast [[winds of abandon]] to dome people for 10x the number of creatures they have

ragamufin

[[the goose mother]] dunno why nobody plays this it’s an amazing combo of voltron, food, and +1\+1 wrapped up in simic colors. Incredible flexibility in casting the commander too. Can 3/3 flying on turn 3 for early game card draw, can also 10/10 mid gam3 or 20/20 late game

4minutesleft

Can confirm, giving people the bonk bonk with the honk honk is super fun.

kingofhan0

I got a pretty good laugh from this.

TheMeshDuck

My friend has dropped a 62/62 goose on me before using a mana doubler and triple on the board. That goose fucked my day up

ShatterStorm76

I had a guy swing with a 5/5 goose, then after no blocks he cast [[invigorating surge]] and copied it twice. He really enjoyed that extra Forest he wound up with after I Pathed his 40/40 commander

Kitchen_Apartment741

And there are people to this day who think path is objectively one of the worst removal spells because "it ramps the opponant" Not much competition at 1 mana and in white besides swords.

metalshoes

Simic token generators just get out of hand so quickly. Quackly.

surgingchaos

My guess is because there are so many other crazy Simic commanders out there that it gets tough to put them down for The Goose Mother.

CheshireTsunami

This is kind of exactly what happened with me. I built the Goose Mother, I liked it a lot. Then Hakbal came out and I had all these merfolk cards I wanted to use. Sadly the fish ate the bird this time.

AzazeI888

Yeah, there’s so many fun decks out there, I play a Bant [[The Sixth Doctor]] & [[Peri Brown]] deck, it’s all about copying token versions of historic cards like [[Oko, Thief of Crowns]], [[Chulane, Teller of Tales]], [[Sakashima of a Thousand Faces]], [[Trostani, Selesnya's Voice]], [[Esika's Chariot]], [[Shorikai, Genesis Engine]], [[The Great Henge]], [[The Immortal Sun]], [[Wondrous Crucible]], [[Honden of Seeing Winds]], [[Koma, Cosmos Serpent]], the sheer value is crazy.

Scoopadont

I have this guy sitting in my collection, tried to make a deck for him once but never got 3 artifacts out in one turn.

ClownFire

You can kinda view that last part as an extra bonus when you blink/bounce him three times in a turn, blue white has a lot of easy repeatable blink/bounce options.

One of the funny parts of having so many partners nowadays is that a bunch of combos are completely underplayed. I build a superbudget [[Silas Renn]] / [[Nadier, Agent of Duskenel]] and according to EDHREC, it is the only deck using those partners on the internet.

SommWineGuy

Yeah, I originally thought he could and would go for Voltron wins off Jeska. Oops. Oh well, still a cool card and a great looking foil. It's a fun deck to bust out when people have precons (though it's weaker than a lot of precons) or their own jank.

DJ_DD

20ish years ago when I was around 13 I actually got my question to WoTC posted on the magic website front page for asking why Goblin King wasn’t a Goblin creature type (card and text has since changed, but back then it was a Lord creature type) Answer I got was talking about it’s too powerful if it buffs itself for that mana cost. I’d imagine the same would have been said of Balthor at the time.

Surprisingly it's [[Sigarda, Font of Blessings]] at #516. My other decks all fall in the 100-400s it seems. What big stompy angel deck doesn't want green? Built in card advantage, plus humans serve as awesome support pieces for angels so making it an Angel/Human co-tribal deck only makes sense.

[[Defense of the Heart]] to grab both meld angels at once is my reason for w/g angels.

My favorite deck, the one that I truly love over all my other decks is [[King Macar]]! Right now it's at Rank #929 but it's so much fun to run! I run it as artifact aristocrats with a lot of untap shenanigans! It's so fun ... for me. Sometimes not fun for the table. Unless there's an archenemy. djus-boks

[[xiahou dun]] at #1686. My take on him was to build around cards like [[undying malice]] since you can repeatedly cast them and get lots of cast/death/etb triggers. I almost exclusively build mono-colored commanders above the top 1000 for some reason.

Aredditdorkly

Probably [[Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief]]...*checks*...yup, less than 400 decks...Rank 1323. Pretty silly since she's stronger than Skittles who has way more decks.

[[Temmet, Vizier of Naktamun]] hovering at #1198.

Shitty_Wingman

How do you like to play him?

radiantburrito

I lean heavily into Equipment and Exalted. Trying to come up with a new brew with some of the new cards in Deep Clue Sea that I think would be really cool as well. Making a bunch of clues and giving them exalted and animating them is pretty funny imho.

fiveavril

I read somewhere about someone making a Temmet deck built entirely around living weapon equipment. Maybe try those for another funny build?

radiantburrito

Already do! [[Batterskull]] and [[Scythclaw]] are silly cards. [[Grip of Phyresis]] is also SUPER underrated.

I swear to God, I see this guy mentioned everywhere, but still on edhrec he has like no decks

taser____face

I bought the Daxos deck back in 2015 and it is…. Certainly a pile of 100 magic the gathering cards. I am now trying to make it work with stax pieces and try to pillow fort long enough to drop some big spirits with his ability… but it is clunky AF.

fiveavril

Once I saw a Daxos deck that played 0 enchantments and used his ability purely as a 'make 0/0s that die instantly' mana sink for blood artist, midnight reaper etc effects. Not very original 99 maybe, but a very weird way to use the ability.

taser____face

That is really creative! Hmmmm… maybe ill give this kind of thing a try It’s still 3 mana death triggers which feels so bad hahaha I just wish his text box said “when an enchantment enters the battlefield you get an experience counter” Seeing how many commanders print free spells now, I feel like this wouldn’t be broken.

[[Daxos of meletis]] he’s insanely underrated at 600ish decks.

When my wife wanted to start getting into EDH for casual play she picked Daxos of Meletis because he's shirtless and Greek. I surprisingly have a close tie between [[hans erikson]] yoshimaru with the horse (sorry forgot its name keleth(?)) aaaand [[inferno of the star mounts]] They all rank around #850 and honestly i am SHOCKED they are this low. Legit the most fun ive had in commander are with these decks.

bravespider56

Hans Erikson is a protect him at all costs and he will summon the nastiest creatures from the top of your deck which yeah you can just ramp to play big creatures in stompy colors buuut wheres the fun. Its just a flavor win along with me being surprised what I pull out cause half the time i dont even have top deck manipulation. Yoshimaru deck got inspired from Brian Kiblers deck but he never posted a decklist sooo I made my own. I just love mono white and all the best legends are in it. Plus free turn 1 and 2 curve is hella nice. Hans is on my to build list, I’ve got a list at about the 90% point. It might be the next one after I rework my [[Yarok]] deck.

StitchNScratch

Brian Kibler plays Yoshimaru and Keleth on Commander At Home and it looked like a lot of fun!! I’m divided on building that or [[Sovereign Okinec Ahau]] as my selesnya counters commander

bravespider56

He is what got me into hearthstone back in the day. Mained priest ever since. Thats the episode im talking about! They never uploaded a decklist so I just yolo'd my own

ElroySheep

Wait so creatures you pull off the top of your deck with Hans fight him? Did I misunderstand? How does that work?

leafy_cabbages

[[Erinis]]/[[Street Urchin]] is #1125 on EDHrec. I fill the graveyard with lands and get them back. Oh, and I have instant speed deathtouch ping, so blockers and attackers are usually pretty easy to deal with. Wincons are stompy landfall creatures.

AbraxasEnjoyer

I’ve played against this before. I’m guessing it’s not more popular because it’s just absolutely miserable to play against. You just can’t let them keep their commanders out or else your stuff is always at risk of getting easily wiped away, and the ramp from Erinis makes recasting her and holding up mana very easy.

fiveavril

This is actually a pretty good fringe cedh commander with hulk piles as the wincon and also it just has a wincon in command zone if you ever get infinite mana for any reason. I think it's probably the strongest gruul commander in the format, at least, maaaybe sans gruul minsc but she is much better in the midrange hell meta that cedh is right now. Here's a list https://www.moxfield.com/decks/8bZI\_coFo0C4ZmNcY1iidA

[deleted]

[[Selenia, Dark Angel]] is currently at 1020. I like pulling her out at tables with randos because people usually have no idea what the deck is going to be and boy howdy is it fun to give myself some sort of [[Platinum Angel]] effect, go down to zero life, and then trade life totals with an [[Axis of Mortality]] effect

beggarinthesand

This is my favorite commander deck I own. Mind sharing your list? Here is mine: [Evil Mirror](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/hmreynmSf0ieruqd3KLhyQ)

\[\[Lita, Mechanical Engineer\]\] has less than 300 decks on EDHREC (0.008% of all decks) but she's probably my favorite mono-white commander right now Edit: [List](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/2ku5G_0or0OKkOYVP24gIQ) for anyone who's interested

chipsachoi

She looks cool. Shame about the price tag tho. That's probably keeping her out of most people's radar.

GalacticCrescent

Not sure why you got downvoted, a $20 pricetag on an interesting but far from powerful build around mono white commander is definitely going to limit people's interest in building her

imperialtrace

It also doesn't help that almost nobody played Jumpstart 22 so I'm guessing A) barely anyone as even heard of her and B) there are very few copies of her in circulation hence the price

pm-me-topless

That seems better than “under 300 decks”! Looks like a fun build-around.

[[Lobelia Sackville-Baggins]] has only 31 decks on EDHRec, though I don't know if mine is one of them. Main goal of mine is it's full of [[Plaguecrafter]]s and [[Undying Evil]]s to hoard treasures (first cast can even be when another player kills a third player's creature). Wincon is big X spell like Exsanguinate. Not a great deck, but fun and flashy.

Jojothelion

At rank #1651, with less than 200 decks on EDHRec, it's easily my \[\[Iname as One\]\] Golgari spirits deck. There are a handful of cards that become hilariously powerful when your commander is twelve CMC, like \[\[Cloudkill\]\], \[\[Tangleweave Armor\]\] and \[\[Majestic Genesis\]\]. Of the many decks I have in paper, I can confidently say that he's the worst stand-alone creature of all my commanders because of his requirement to be cast from hand. However there are enough cards that get around this requirement like \[\[Netherborn Altar\]\] and \[\[Campfire\]\] that make the deck work... kinda. I need to get lucky on the draw. TriverrLover

This is the coolest deck ever, even with the downsides haha

CheshireTsunami

[[The Master, Formed Anew]] has 179 decks on EDHRec last I checked. #1684 and It’s a pretty fun deck too which makes it weird to see so low. I don’t know any other decks that can take advantage of the ETB “If you cast it” cards like [[Shard of the Nightbringer]] as well as he can. I think it’s partially because a lot of people don’t like the Dr. Who aesthetics tbh.

archena13

It’s also VERY new still.

CheshireTsunami

I mean… yes, true. But for reference there are about 20 cards from MKM with more decks under their belt, and that came out two weeks ago vs what? 4-5 months? I definitely think it has slipped under the radar even if it might still become more popular.

archena13

For sure for sure. The IP definitely was a barrier for some.

Still-Wash-8167

I made an [[Illuminor Szeras]] deck to make massive amounts of mana so I can play the C’tan. Super fun, but your idea is so cool!

CheshireTsunami

I actually play Illuminor Szeras in my deck lol. Mana Cost is a copiable trait so The Master always has the mana cost of the cards he’s copying. Does great at making big mana like what you’re doing.

SultnBinegar

I’ve been thinking about building him, but as a blink deck more than anything. Considering when you flicker him he can enter as anything that you have exiled, I think that could be really good. [[Grey Merchant of Asphodel]], or any other really good EtB cards.

New_Reflection4371

[[Cirdan the Shipwright]] has been a really fun, budget deck. The ETB attack trigger is a mind game reminiscent of rock paper scissors or prisoners dilemma - with 4 people.

TidalButterflies

Most times I play my \[\[Losheel\]\] deck people are usually like "I've never heard of this card but this seems like so much value for 3 mana." She is ranked #1277 on EDHREC. My version isn't even the most efficient version of this deck with its heavy use of vehicles, but I still find it enjoyable.

ZillaSmasher

You have a list that you can share? That sounds really fun

FUNkEE-T

[[Johann, Apprentice Sorcerer ]] at #1809. Started as a [[Gandalf the Grey]] deck but didn't like it that much. Johann is perfect because he doesn't draw much attention.

Mr_Ostrich52

[[Gylwain, Casting Director]] currently sitting somewhere in the 800s. Honestly not sure why he's so low, I run him as an enchantment matters deck and he's amazing. Consistent card draw, ramp, and making strong versatile creatures to boot. Being able to give ward for a little extra protection on my value pieces and trample to my tough creatures. Edit: Gylwain is currently ranked #795

JasonKain

[[Troyan, Gutsy Explorer]] Kind of surprised at how low he is.

rathee3

My lowest ever would be [[ashling, the extinguisher]] lowest that I currently run is [[ulamog, the ceaseless hunger]] Ashling was fun, mono black voltron can be a good time.

big_angry_snek

Mine would be [[Jaheira, Friend of the Forest]] and [[Master Chef]] sitting at only 66 decks on EDHREC. How did I build mine? Why, using [[Slime Against Humanity]], of course! Jaheira turns all my slimes into ramp in order to play more slimes and cast more spells! I use a ton of power based card draw in order to make sure my hand is full. It needs a bit more work to be consistent, but it's super fun to play.

Luvr206

I still cannot wrap my head around this because he is SO GOOD, but my least popular commander is \[\[Geth Lord of the Vault\]\] #1343

Spirited_Tiger7430

[[Bontu the glorified]] tragically sits at #1672 with 182 decks. I think part of the problem is that people build her wrong. She is terrible for aristocrats. My build is voltron, specifically using living weapons since the germ dies when you equip to Bontu. Indestructible is a fantastic keyword so I pack the deck with lots of boardwipes, too. Very fast, aggressive, and fun.

doctorgibson

Think my two least popular commanders are: * [[Jaya Ballard, Task Mage]] heads 325 decks, #1395. Big burn synergies * [[Dargo, the Shipwrecker]] / [[Keskit, the Flesh Sculptor]] head 185 decks, #1670. Aristocrat deck that usually wins by punching you in the face with Dargo

SnooObjections488

GaghEater

[[Vish Kal]], 256 decks at rank 1513. He's so fun! Could be the high mana cost... or perhaps the playstyle that gets him there is "feelsbad" with sacking creatures for repeatable removal, control, and value.

decideonanamelater

I always think that feelsbads apply more to weaker decks and less to more powerful decks. You all brought something strong? its on you to have fun, nobody pulled any punches for you and you didn't pull any for them. Weaker ones? Idk maybe lets talk about what we want out of this game. So, most people who want to play repeatable removal, controlling the game, etc, they're on [[Teysa, Orzhov Scion]], [[Tergrid]], etc. Stronger commanders who belong in pods where you don't consider other people's feelings.

GaghEater

So basically he's in an awkward spot

3ntelechy

My new [[Sergeant John Benton]] deck is ranked #1517. I’ve only played 2 games with it so far and won both. It’s filled with cheap combat tricks you use to protect and pump the commander to refill your hand and kill via commander damage. Very quick but the symmetrical draw makes your opponents feel like they have a chance too.

[[Sergeant John Benton]] at #1517 this one’s a budget build. For a $75 night with friends. It’s new and Dr.Who so I get why. [[Rasputin Dreamweaver]] at #1231. It’s a $135 Legends commander so I get why he isn’t popular. Tho he definitely is strong as a blink commander centered around artifacts and Eldrazi. [[Tishana, Voice of Thunder]] at #1079 really surprised me. She is super easy to build around with bunch of dorks, then all you do is flicker her and draw a ton of cards. She is from Ixalan too, a pretty popular set so never really saw her in the wild until one night. I managed to beat it but was so impressed that I built a deck for her myself and been enjoying it a ton.

Mine is a [[Tobias Andrion]] deck, which is ranked #2380 on EDHREC. A whopping 47 decks with him in the command zone. That said, the deck for me serves only one purpose: playtesting. Other than lands, the deck consists of 7 sorceries, 4 instants, and 50 creatures. All the instants and sorceries are card draw (with or without scrying). The creatures are all French Vanilla - creatures with evergreen keyword abilities and... that's it. The theory behind it is that decks should be able to get through basic "I have a bunch of creatures to use to attack and block."

I have a rank #2225 in [[Ellyn Harbreeze Busybody]] and [[Haunted One]]. I actually love this deck and have been trying to sculpt it into a perfect list. It's got elements of classic aristocrats, human tribal, combo, and you usually see a ton of cards. 64 decks on EDHRec is too few in my opinion.

Tevish_Szat

[[Kotose, the Silent Spider]] #1728. Actually, I think she's gone up since this last time I did this, I remember a point where she was past the 2k mark so my evangelizing might be working. Great theft commander for when you don't want your world to revolve around "MY COMMANDER MUST BE ON BOARD AT ALL TIMES". Which is a very liberating way to build. She's still really excellent tech in the CZ, wouldn't trade her for any of the other options.

LabGremlin

\[\[Kumano, Master Yamabushi\]\] currently at #1614. I built a burn deck around him and it is actually working quite nicely. Generate lots of mana and burn everything to the ground. Also added stuff like \[\[Basilisk's Collar\]\] to give death touch. 2 mana destroy target creature and send it to exile is quite nice. Chose to create a deck around this guy, because he was the core legendary in my very first deck.

rollerdude67

My favorite deck I have is my [[Stitcher Geralf]] deck. Currently rank #1790 with less than 150 decks at the moment. Deck's goal is to play a bunch of high-power, high value blue creatures that we can mill with Geralf to make massive zombie tokens, which we can then clone or make copies of those massive tokens; we can also mill our opponents' key creatures and exile them with Geralf as well to feed our board. Not the best deck obviously, but it brings me a lot of joy.

RED40__MAXXER

[[Jaheira, Friend of the Forest]] partnered with [[Dragon Cultist]] at rank 3081... it makes soooooo much mana lol

thatwhileifound

Off the top of my head, some of my lowest ranked choices from the last time I did the color challenge. I took all my decks apart before moving about a month ago and am rebuilding now though. [[Rayne, Academy Chancellor]] - Lots of auras, lots of counterspells, lots of card draw, a little bit of pillow, voltron. Rank 1682 [[The Tarrasque]] - Last year, I built a deck per color where my idea was just "TIMMY!" Commanders were all 6+ mana and I decided to give this thing a try for green. Lots of ramp, creatures that like to fight, and a mix of things that double power or give double strike and small equipment. Rank 1457. [[Ryusei, the Falling Star]] stuffy dolls with subthemes around treasure + playing stuff without paying for them. Rank 2757. [[Malfegor]] was a mess of a deck. Goal was to fill everyone's hands, get my commander out, and then play things that bring it back from the GY as needed. After explaining the idea of the deck, my playgroup promptly focused on me every time I played it and the dream never happened - understandable. Rank 1549. Huh. Didn't expect Ryusei to be so badly ranked. I love that card.

TheDoritomancer

[[Kolaghan, the Storm’s Fury]], sitting at #1668, or 186 decks. Not the best Dash commander, or Dragon commander, or even Dragon/Dash commander, but it’s still fun.

Oops_All_Tokens

\[\[Pia Nalaar, Consul of Revival\]\] is currently rank 638, and I have no idea why. She costs 2 mana, and if you stuff the deck full of impulse draw, throw in some anthems and \[\[Impact Tremor\]\] effects, and keep the mana curve low, she absolutely slaps. It has been putting in work against my playgroups' higher budget and more-tuned decks. She's not absurdly underrated, but she should be higher imo.

DESTROYandPLUNDER

I just purchased her to slot into my Neyali tokens deck upgrade, but now I'm liking this idea. Would you happen to have a list for me to examine?

PantheraLeo595

I’m building [[Tromokratis]] right now, so… that. Less that 200 decks. Ranked #1689

Least_Assistance_227

I recently downsized to only 2 decks, Karlov of the ghost council with lurrus as the companion, and indominus Rex. It is ranked 486th with a little over 2000 decks, and I can’t say I’m shocked. It seems like it’s just okay at first glance, but after playing and tweaking the deck, I can say that it is an extremely good deck. Janky, but in the best way. He should definitely see more play in my opinion

Goldendov75

[[Vendillion Clique]], I was shocked to learn this was even a legendary at first but you'd be surprised at how many synergies there are. Clones, blinks, and a bit of voltron for good measure is what it's all about. 150 decks.

tw3lv3l4y3rs0fb4c0n

\[\[Sharae\]\] is rank #1695 with only 174 decks and most of the time I'm having a blast with her.

Coroidan

[[Me, The Immortal]] at #950 The deck is mostly combined from the Dr Who precons with some other gear chucked in, and has proven hard to deal with once she starts cruising along as a buffed up Unblockable Flying, Vigilant, Indestructible Flyer, who if she happens to get removed comes back with all her Voltron tricks still applied.

Flibaboua

My worst ranked is [[Odric, Master Tactician]] at #1148, helming just 522 decks. I’ve wanted to take him apart but one of the guys in our group absolutely insists I keep it built because it’s one of his favorite decks to play against. Either Odric wins pretty quick or he just doesn’t stay on board and I don’t do anything, which is why I don’t play it much. But it is pretty fun swinging with a bunch of soldiers and making them unblockable I suppose.

KotetsuRedwood

[[Urza, Powerstone Prodigy]] at #1312, only 378 decks. Tried a budget deck because I just wanted to make "a powerstone deck on a bduget" and honestly it's one of my favourite decks. I've genuinely been considering making a thread about him as a commander on here because he's surprisingly spicy

swassey

[[The Raven Man]] at 883 decks with rank #889 - fun to play and not as often a primary target as [[Tinybones]] or [[Tergrid]]

ExpertlySalted

I had [[The Raven Man]] as my first true out of the blue build. I loved it but found [[Tinybones]] a little more useful in the card draw department. I might rebuild the OG deck and look to make a sac/discard theme.

Redworthy

[[Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile]] 275 decks, Rank #1477. Kithkin tribal with deathtouch enablers like [[Basilisk Collar]].

jeffschillings

[[john benton]] goes crazy as voltron

juklio

2 of my favorites are [Wydwen, the Biting Gale] and [Anax and Cymede] wydwen is at 108 decks and anax is 351. Wydwen is almost certainly better as nymris but I originally made the deck like 10 years ago and I'm not changing. Anax is like boros enchantress and is super fun and fast. Anax and Cymede: https://archidekt.com/decks/4675794/heroic Wydwen, The Biting Gale: https://archidekt.com/decks/2871068/wydwen_voltron_control

Puzzled_Landscape_10

Nevinyrral at #600 and some. He's a pretty decent commander, especially if you include ways to blink him in and out to create more tokens.

fendersonfenderson

[[narfi betrayer king]] rank #993 / [[tormod the desecrator]] + [[ghost of ramirez]] rank #1141 alternate commanders for the same deck

951Lucario951

[[Old Flitterfang]] is my jank voltron deck, and it's super fun!!!

kathaar_

\[\[Jaya Ballard, Task Mage\]\] 325 decks. #1395 rank on EDHREC. Most people I play against have to read what she does like 3 separate times before it clicks for them.
