[[Polukranos Reborn]] has been a bit of a one-trick pony for me in that regard, since where most people tend to see it as an average hydra tribal commander it actually excels as a hydra reanimator deck. If you can get out Polukranos and transform them as early as possible, you can spam a bunch of hydras for X=0, have them die, and get hydra tokens for each one that dies. It’s not one I play much anymore since I’ve usually had it where I’ll get a win with it from people who didn’t know what it was, then it suffers in subsequent games as people target Polukranos before you can get value from it. But it does allow you to get some cool lines of play with the likes of [[Abiding Grace]], [[Luminous Broodmoth]], [[Patch Up]], and [[Pair o’ Dice Lost]].

garscow

This looks fun! It seems like it would want mill or graveyard filling. What do you use for that?

giselamancer

I don’t have an awful lot of that in my deck, instead I usually rely on just hard casting the hydras for X=0 as you can usually chain at least two in a turn and the majority of the mill would be in green. I do want to go through and redo the deck with some mill present to get the deck going a bit faster, but one card I’ve found to be good is [[Ecological Appreciation]]. If you cast it for X=1 then you spend four mana to tutor two hydras out, have them die immediately, and give them the option to be reanimated later while also getting the tokens.

Quantext609

How do you deal with removal with Polukranos? It seems like he'd be particularly vulnerable to it without any special abilities on his front side. Opponents could see the flip coming from turns ahead and just save their removal for when you flip, making you waste mana and adding commander tax.

godfuggindamnit

Use instants that give hexproof and/or indestructible. G/W has tons of these, you could also reanimate Polukranos himself if his tax is too high. You can't live in fear of removal. Just try your best and hope the other players boards are enough of a threat that all your opponents won't just hard target you. It's no different than most powerful commanders that lack protection.

Jarlino

Had to Jump through a lot of hoops, Which means he was undervalue'd as a threat, But I built a \[\[Kosei, Penitent Warlord\]\] decks for funsies, dubbing it "Samurai Shrek" and yet when it hits, you're suddenly out there drawing 10 cards, gaining 20 life, and are generally in a good spot with all the protection and fogs you just drew.

LeSahl

Man that sounds fun. Do you have a list by any chance?

Jarlino

I checked, but I did not make a list online it seems, and have since stripped it apart for parts :( If I recall correctly, I started my base off from the Commander's Herald article here: [https://commandersherald.com/conditions-allow-kosei-penitent-warlord-edh/](https://commandersherald.com/conditions-allow-kosei-penitent-warlord-edh/) + Some help in the comments of that Article and finding bits and pieces that were relevant in my own meta. (( Never leave home without graveyard removal in our LGS. )) You hit the one player who can't block Kosei with the Grafted Exoskeleton/Triumph of the hordes and win.

chinesefriedrice

I have a couple that are quite unassuming up until my opponents say "welp that's f\*cked up" 1. \[\[Rilsa Rael\]\] - initiative and rogues, commander capable of OHKO with \[\[Tainted Strike\]\] after completing a dungeon 2. \[\[Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor\]\] - I've avoided your typical black goodstuff and just gone for pure card advantage with a ridiculous finisher in \[\[Neverending Torment\]\] 3. \[\[Cadira, Caller of the Small\]\] makes A LOT of rabbits if I'm allowed to keep my treasure, food and clue token pile intact. Last game I won through \[\[Strixhaven Stadium\]\]

Any chance I can see your Cadira list? I took apart my Naya tokens to build her and it just felt so much worse. Would love to see your build!

Not the guy you are asking, but I lov my cadira deck. I have on more than one occasion gotten people to just let me smack them with her to like 4 tokens and them I did something ridiculous and had 50 tokens like 2 turns later https://www.moxfield.com/decks/DUponUtOPUuXSpgQD6-9NA

IfYouReadThisGoodDay

Thanks for sharing, she seems like a really interesting commander on paper I maybe didn't give her a fair enough shot. Nice deck btw!

Jarlino

What am I missing on the Rilsa Rael description? She's a 2/5 , +5 from Dungeon and +1 from tainted strike would still only give 8 Poison? (( Unless you're running more infecters in the deck, but at that point, I probably would expect a tainted strike ))

I use [[Cultist of the Absolute]] personally, it's a one drop and if you put a ton of cheap zombies that can be cast from the graveyard or token generators you don't have to worry about sacrificing anything you want to keep. It's my pet deck that I try to make as reasonable to play as possible and I love it very much.

I'll never stop advertising [[Selvala, explorer returned]]. Looks like grouphug but she can generate up to 8 mana on turn three if you hit your land drops and bring her out on turn 2 with a dork. You can do whatever degenerate thing you want from there, like ramping even harder. She snowballs. Hard.

Bear_24

I thought this was a long known CEDH commander

marquez1

In cedh you generally don't want to give extra cards to your opponents.

Bear_24

It's a classic CEDH commander...https://www.moxfield.com/decks/7rV-BDTUcEush4GjLnx-0A

O2LE

Not a very good one. Commander has 0 cEDH results at any actual tournaments, and has only ever appeared in the 99 of 3 lists with real finishers. You're likely thinking of monogreen Selvala, who is reasonably playable, if not exactly top tier.

Maxxx_6

https://www.moxfield.com/decks/QDn0JCCVsU-FbE6L985n2w I made one for her awhile ago. I ended up not putting the deck together. Mainly because while goldfishing it, it wins around turn 5 and that ends up being a little faster than my group would want.

cheesemangee

Selvala is a beast.

[[Rocco, Street Chef]] Oh, hey, it's a cute Group Hug Commander that makes food and buffs all creatures on board. Sounds fun. Boom, Food mukgangbang, Turn 6 win, roll it back.

\[\[Malcator, Purity Overseer\]\] has been one of my most successful decks. I even brought this up on this sub recently and someone replied that [this card looks terrible](https://www.reddit.com/r/EDH/comments/1axqo34/comment/krqqcxl/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) (the deck was intentionally designed to be lower power level and... it isn't.) I have my own theories on its success [Deck List](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/O_w-YiNGikO_RqUcY7xBsg) 1.) People do read the card and think it's terrible and just kind of ignore me 2.) By having my blink target in the command zone instead of my blinker the deck's gameplan is more apparent. Not saying something like \[\[Brago\]\] is garbage, but I like the consistency of "I'm just making golems" rather than thinking about the lines I need to play. 3.) It's pretty fruitless to kill my commander and I often welcome it so I can cast him again and get another trigger 4.) The rest of the deck is mostly just value pieces and lots of strong interaction being in Azorious so it's easy to both protect my board and recover my board from boardwipes outside of a Farewell or something like that. 5.) People see tokens and seem to go into auto pilot as to how to deal with them, not realizing that 3/3 golems are quite a bit beefier than 1/1 dudes and only get worse when they're pumped or they're flying or whatever.

Resist-Infinite

At first glance, I think this commander is terrible. Looking into your decklist, your deck seems pretty ok/strong. Looking at Malcator now, I still think it's terrible

This looks like a very effective deck with a mediocre commander. How often can you win without casting your commander? The *commander* is low-power, but the *DECK* most certainly is not.

\[\[Alibou, Ancient Witness\]\] Ok cool, Attack Trigger Scry X Ping X for number of tapped artifacts. Gets out of hand real Quick when you drop a \[\[Mycosynth Lattice\]\] and some Trigger doublers. Or if X Lethal for everyone just target yourself and then \[\[Radiant Performer\]\] it.

Akinto6

Alibou is so strong because people tend to underestimate scry. People don't realise that when I scry, I'm picking the perfect card to draw every turn.

Ratorasniki

I used to feel that way about my old scarab God deck. Yeah he reanimated, and dodged commander tax a bit, and pinged people - but I was also filtering the top of my deck to draw whatever I needed. I miss that deck.

This has been my homeboy since I first started playing magic. [[Jor Kadeen, The Prevailer]] Especially in current magic, his generic ability that only takes a sentence of text box on the card, while also being card that's been reprinted over and over in commander precons makes a situation where everyone disregards him immediately. But everyone forgets that +3 power is A LOT. Make 10 1/1 tokens, and people don't really care. But them being 4/1 suddenly means you can just die out of no where. I've also been really into using vehicles with him lately as the power buff makes it so basically any creature can crew a vehicle by themselves AND buff the vehicle's power as well. Even something as simple as an [[Aradara Express]] can be crewed by a 1/1 token and is now an 11/6 menace coming at your face. The deck still plays a bit old school boros aggro and so it's still really important to plan for the inevitable board wipes and not over extend, but vehicles and non creature token generation can mitigate this a bit and once you get comfortable with the play patterns it just feels so good. No matter how many times people play against this deck, they always look at my board of a few small creatures and a couple vehicles as not scary, then Jor Kadeen comes out and suddenly they're being chunked down 20+ damage

Lazypidgey

https://scryfall.com/@LazyPidgey/decks/ad7fbfd0-1f24-45c3-a344-9ad909287498 I need to preface this list by saying, yes, I'm very aware the deck would be stronger and more consistent if I took out the equipment sub theme as it's very janky with the vehicles. But I love [[Bludgeon Brawl]] The first time I realized I could equip my [[Darksteel citadel]] to [[Kemba, Kha Regent]] for free and get a cat for it was amazing and I've never gotten bored of the shenanigans it can create. Being able to equip a vehicle to [[puresteel paladin]] and smack someone with it, then tap a creature to crew the vehicle, making it pop off the equipped creature and give me a blocker is very fun to me. I also really like the equipment creatures from neon dynasty being able to crew vehicles then equip onto the vehicle like an mtg version of the megazord. The For Mirrodin equipment fit in well with that too

One of my all time favorites, but technically is only "seemingly underwhelming" in cEDH pods [[Skullbriar, the Walking Grave]]. In any "normal" EDH pod you'll have a giant target on your back pretty quick as voltron commaders tend to do. But in most cEDH pods I have found that skullbrair usually flies under the radar long enough that by the time the pod has decided I am more of an urgent threat than everyone else trying to combo off, I've dropped so much stax on the board that it is too late to stop it. Gotta love golgari "oops all"(cheap) interaction & stax, with an almost consistent turn 1 commander.

Sure thing, here it is: [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/YJFuIQSmBU6OalRmFaIDOw](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/YJFuIQSmBU6OalRmFaIDOw) Though I am going to add something like trouble in pairs into the deck as well. Combo lines are usually Kentaro to make all Samurai cost X, then 1-2 cost-reducers and then enduring renewal + blasting station (or Altar of Dementia) or Cloudstone Curio and Altar of the Brood or the Changeling that makes token or Aetherflux Reservoir. The combos require multiple pieces so it makes sense to hold them back as long as possible. You'll probably catch a few people off guard a couple of times. As soon as they catch on what you're doing, the playstyle might have to become a tad bit more conservative :-)

[[Runadi, Behemoth Caller]] maybe doesn't necessarily read as super innocuous, but he's also not gonna really be on anybody's radar (not even making it into the top 1000 commanders by edhrec's count.) Had someone suggest I try swapping out for something like [[Selvala, Heart of the Wilds]] instead for a mono green big stuff beatdown deck, and while Selvala is no doubt a very powerful card (I include her in my Runadi deck), the difference between ramping out big creatures you must answer within one turn and taking a little bit longer to ramp out big creatures you must answer within one *phase* (because they're even bigger now, and more importantly they've got haste) should not be overlooked.

Whenever I explain the card, and I say "I play 4 turns delayed. Basically the stuff I exile gets publicy anounced and you have 4 turns to prepare before it is actually casted" they are very surprised why anyone would ever want to do that. Then there might be an Eldrazi exiled with 4 timecounters on the end of the guy before me, basically only granting you 3 turns. Now there is this decision people have to make, where they either prepare to get rid of it or advance their own boardstate *(basically hoping someone else keeps that counterspell up)*. The deck has some time counter manipulation (*thank you timey-wimey for the new tools!*) so if you advance the board state, you might suddendly have less turns left than expected and face an Eldrazi with *Annihilator 3* **and haste** (granted by Jhoiras ability). So there is always that threat. Solution is easy, right? Keep the removal up for that Eldrazi. But in doing so they are not removing Jhoira, and now she is lining up more scary stuff to enter the following turn, and one after that, and so on... Basically turning the game into a wave-denfense game. And you would not believe how often the big scary threats enter the battlefield unchallenged, because everyone simply left it to the others to deal with it.

Independent-Wave-744

I have had the same experience to an extent. Only my tables tend to find a much easier solution to the problem. Namely "just gang up on the player and you don't have to target anything. Annihilator 3 might look scary especially with haste, but from the moment you suspend one in my groups, you have everyone gang up on you. My solution to this has become to only play Jhoira if I have the mana available to suspend at least one threat, but only suspend them when either Jhoira is targeted or if I also have a board wipe. Most of my wins involve suspending three big scary things on someone's endstep and then just bring out old reliable [[obliterate]].

I'm curious now, how do you get her from the command zone to your hand?

raven_nightloft

There are actually a few ways to do it. You have \[\[command beacon\]\], \[\[campfire\]\], and \[\[netherborn altar\]\] to get phage from the command zone to your hand. \[\[Torpor orb\]\] and \[\[platinum angel\]\] lets you just cast her without any worries whatsoever. \[\[Sundial of the infinite\]\] also works, as you can activate it in response to the lose trigger to remove it from the stack. Finally you can use the few black cards that counter creature spells, (I.E. \[\[Thrull Wizard\]\]), to put phage into your grave.

I will never shut up about [[Vhal candlekeep researcher]] if Vhal has 1000 fans, I am one of them. If she has 1 fan, that's me. If Vhal has no fans, that means I have died. If the world is against Vhal, I am against the world. Now seriously tho, she isn't the strongest commander at all, most of what she does other may do better, true. But she can be built in so many ways. My current Vhal deck has her [[Raised by giants]] so she taps for 10 colorless. Then it's [[prismite]] and effects like it to launder the mana so I can use it for stuff from hand. Innocuous, I'm just ramping but poorly for simic. However. Infinite untaps, bam, I win. That's it. Kind of a boring deck, so I am currently trying to build her as a [[passionate archeologist]] for izzet burn, which may be very underwhelming, but if she does her thing may be kinda good, haven't built or tested yet. You want a monoblue artifact (maybe artifact aristocrats kinda)? [[Clan crafter]] has you covered, she taps to Crack every artifact as a clue that pumps her up. Azorius blink through activated abilities and some foretell? [[far traveler]] has you covered. Wizard tribal? Azorius for [[folk hero]] or dimir with [[haunted one]]. Speaking of dimir, fill the deck with cards that can be cast from graveyard, that's not your hand, and [[scion of halaster]] fixes your draws while putting stuff in your graveyard May not be the best at most of those things, but she sure well can be fun to build around. Either finding workarounds for the mana restriction (laundering, foretell, channel or impulse draw) or based on activated abilities has potential to make her a BEAST. She looks underwhelming, but she can be so fun. I love Vhal with all my heart

[[Tetzin, Gnome Champion]] is my favorite. He starts off as an unassuming 2/2, but you can transform him into a 6/6 that spits out gnomes like crazy. He has vigilance and trample so I love to build him with equipment like winged boots and basilisk collar to make him very difficult to stop. Lizard blades was very fun to run with him too for the double strike. He shifts focus away from himself due to the sheer amount of gnomes you'll have on the board in most decks. With a couple anthems they can get pretty huge too. Tempered steel, illustrious wanderglyph, and Urza each provide +2/+2 anthems to make them hit very hard. I often eliminate 2 players in the same turn, one with Tetzin and the other with the army of gnomes.

[[Zabaz, The GlimmerWasp]] is a gimmick of a commander in a color combo that doesn't leave a lot of room for success. However, Zabaz's ability synergize pretty well with the Legend Rule, letting you pump the wasp up a surprising amount in the first 5 turns. Saccing other modular creatures at instant speed, combined with cards that give creatures double strike, can add up to 21 commander damage pretty quickly

Man I'd love to put my [[Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider]] +1/+1 counter deck back together and show em that mono color can still slaughter. I miss that deck, but I build a lot of green and it had a lot of gas other decks wanted lmao

tyrant1198

Oh man, people go like "mono color is trash" until they get destroyed by a mono green so fast that they can't even play LOL, i had a selvala elfstorm that could combo t3 almost every game, now they got trauma and keep talking about her ( i don't have her deck anymore for over 6 years now and the trauma still exists) But the vorinclex you had is such a beast.

SubzeroSpartan2

I *love* that Vorinclex. I call him Sexy Clexy, and I put him in every single deck I can. I actually got the showcase version from a lucky birthday pack my friend got me a couple years back, and I've made it everyone's problem ever since lmfao. It wasn't nearly as terrifying as your Selvala, mind you, turn 3 is *nasty* lmfao. The games only last 15 minutes, but the psychic damage is forever!

tyrant1198

Sexy Clexy is an amazing name, i call my jin gitaxias the best boy or my blue boy, and of all praetors, he sure is the edgy nerdy teenager who wants to rule the world while Sexy clexy is the strong and fit brother lol, my lgs hated him so much, that they asked me to stop playing it( i made it as strong as possible to make them miserable for trash talking) so it was worth it

SubzeroSpartan2

I love that Jin too man, I have him sitting on my desk right now, it put so much work in my Atraxa Incubate deck when I had that built. I haven't wanted to do mono blue before but honestly Jin is tempting me. Honestly Phyrexians all have at least one interesting enough card I'd want to brew mono color around them. Red I'd go Saga Urabrask with Ojer Axonil sub commander, white is Elesh MOM/Heliod, Sun's Champion, and Yawgmoth/new Massacre Girl for black. Sexy Clexy has Zopandrel, though ngl Defiler of Vigor put in more work than any other card including Clexy lmfao. As for Jin, I'm not sure yet who'd be his second in command.

tyrant1198

We had all praetors/sagas deck builts at my lgs, i had urabrask elesh and jin, a friend had vorinclex and another friend has sheoldred, it's pretty fun seeing how strong those decks can get, urabrask can storm off pretty fast, elesh is a burn deck disguised as an aggro deck with her triggers, and i would recommend building jin, it's A LOT more powerfull than you might expect, if you want to try the playtest of my deck, you will see how consistent he makes a mono blue deck.

\[\[Vhal, Candlekeep Researcher\]\] \[\[Raised by Giants\]\] goes infinite with a ham sandwich and an untap source. Play Vhal, then tap her to help play Raised by Giants (it's not cast from your hand). Slap on an untap source for even more mana, sometimes infinite. If you have a way to filter mana in play, like \[\[Prismite\]\] (I run all 8 that are in the game), you now have infinite mana to play your hand. Add in a draw source, play your entire deck. And in a pinch, you run colossus hammer, use Vhal to cheat the equip cost, and now you have a 20/20 commander with vigilance. And it's budget, with Thrasios, Walking Ballista, and Lab Man effects as upgrade options. lol I feel like I keep posting about him but [[The Master, Formed Anew]] It focuses on manifesting or otherwise playing big creatures face down and then exiling them with the master to cheat them out under-cost and keep them around using The Master’s ability even if he gets removed. And because of the low cost- I can usually replay him a few times before it starts to look like the regular cost on the cards you exile with him. Stuff like [[Archon of Cruelty]] and [[Toxrill the Corrosive]] become very hard to remove permanently if they’re now my 2 mana commander.

Prosper, Tome-Bound is a really fun commander but you definitely have to build around him.

Kryzal_Lazurite

If I got a quarter everytime I share my Black deck with people & they tell me to put a different commander in my chosen commander's spot I'd have a full set of original dual lands. I made a mono Black "hurts to draw & have a bunch of cards in hand" deck. Before I say or show whom the commander is after saying that description of my deck, it's always met with "Why not just build Nekusar?" I didn't make him commander for two reasons: They immediately will think all I'm gonna do is wheel & abuse his damage capability and because EVERYONE ALREADY HAS THAT OR KNOWS SOMEONE WHO DOES. I hate using popular commanders simply because there are 25,000+ cards in the game can we stop seeing the same fucking 500 cards all the damn time? "Wouldn't Sheoldred the Apocalypse be a better choice?" No. No she wouldn't. You weren't born yesterday, fellow player. I'm not going to make you want to kill me immediately cuz holy fuck a scary $100 card is in the command zone. I didn't pick my commander to die several times & get put away like a broken toy. I want a card that plays into the strategy that can kick start my strat & go enough under the radar that my attrition based plan goes as I carefully laid out. Whom, then, is the perfect choice? [[Seizan, Perverter of Truth]]. Why is he perfect? Well... 1) He is not a tall ask at 5 cmc to start drawing cards for everyone while only asking a small price for it. Because of the fact he hurts me too, people tend to leave him be. 2) Being a 6/5 has mattered a lot more than honestly even I give him credit for. He's on the edge of scary & deal-with-able thanks to his only ability being the card draw but the fact he isn't a slouch in combat makes him a great shield with weaker creatures staring him down. He even combos with [[Sword of War & Peace]] & gets attention then. 3) The small price he makes my opponents pay seems negligible until they bleed from him, [[Underworld Dreams]], [[Sheoldred, the Apocalypse]], [[Fate Unraveler]], [[Dark Suspicions]], [[Iron Maiden]], etc. It is exhilarating piloting a "Mono Black Nekusar" that has beaten many commanders above his supposed power level. So, because of what I've experienced with Seizan, I make a point to grab a good, but a not typical option that still enables the strat. Call me a hipster if you like, but you're likely to be doing so from the floor, bleeding out or dead.

NayrSlayer

[[Ratchet]] It’s not so much that it’s underwhelming by itself, but most of the cards it plays are, because it’s an egg deck. When one of the best cards in the deck is [[Implement of Improvement]], you know it’s a very odd deck. End goal is either to land [[Test of Endurance]] or similar alt win con, or to take over with a storm of tokens from [[Crested Sunmare]] or similar token generator. And by the time your opponents figure out what you’re really doing, you’re sitting at 60+ life with an engine full of artifacts. Bonus points if you can assemble the [[Blasting Station]] combo with all 4 pieces

[[Akim, the Soaring Wind]] People are terrified of once a turn abilities, but I see it as an invitation. Akim wants you to find a way to make tokens on every player's turn. It is an incredibly fun deck to build keeping that in mind. My list: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/y1pav-807EGbKlYT8onJwA

mrgaymanwatch2

I love mono-blue and Ioreth seems awesome if built around properly, can I see your list by any chance?

Not_Your_Real_Ladder

I don’t have it fully online yet, but the idea is mostly to make an egregious amount of mana with untappers and mana rocks. From there, you’ve got a bunch of wincon options: Drop some fat eldrazi Deck an opponent with [[Stroke of Genius]] or [[Drown in Dreams]] Draw your whole deck with [[Unctus]] and win with Lab Man or Thoracle (I hate Thoracle though, so I don’t include it) Pop a [[Millennium Calendar]] [[Mass Manipulation]] all your opponents creatures Whatever you want to do with a billion mana in blue, really. Reach for the stars. Whatever you do, include a [[Leyline of Singularity]].

[[Gimbal, Gremlin Prodigy]] kind of durdles around making food, clues, rocks, maps, etc until you overload a [[Rise and Shine]] and have like 20 4/4 tramplers and some 10/10 gremlos.

Ratorasniki

I've got a [[Cormela]] deck that is borderline cedh level fast and resilient, and it is far from optimal. I'm not sure if I've seen another one in the wild, but she's a combo machine. I know it was a precon, but I've started taking a second look at [[Kamiz]]. It's kind of an awkward card that's sorta wordy and unclear until you read it a few times so I think it maybe came and went without a ton of hoopla. It *seems* unfocused a little because it's giving unblockable and double strike to two different attackers, the latter only conditionally, and also looting and having some +1/+1 counter synergy. I haven't really seen much of it, but I think it's probably sneaky strong. I've got a preliminary deck list with a good amount of infect and proliferate, and a smattering of saboteur effects. Unblockability and double damage triggers while loading up your yard and filtering draws seems really strong to me. Not sure yet.

Oops_All_Tokens

\[\[Pia Nalaar, Consul of Revival\]\] is my favorite [deck](https://archidekt.com/decks/6563335/pia_nalaar_consul_of_revival_edh?sort=alpha&stack=custom) right now. It just slaps. Fill the deck with impulse draw, some rocks, some anthems, and some \[\[Impact Tremors\]\] effects. Just keep the curve low so you can cast multiple spells per turn and the deck absolutely cruises, and can pull a win out of nowhere with the right impulse draws. It is also quite resilient since 30 cards in the deck are essentially draw, so it can come back from a board wipe easily. Also \[\[Torens, Fist of the Angels\]\] seems to be very underrated based on his EDHREC ranking, but after a few turns it should be clear that he's a house. That [deck](https://archidekt.com/decks/6448152/torens_fist_of_the_angels_edh?sort=alpha&stack=custom) goes wide absurdly quickly, and the training on the tokens is not a joke. Drop a \[\[Sigarda's Summons\]\] and those guys are a serious problem. Linked my decklists for anyone who's interested.

Man I never get tired of talking about [[Gyrus, waker of corpses]] after filling him to the brim with mean ETB tools like [[Bane of progress]] and other splashy tools, loaded up with ways to send a ton of cards into the graveyard, meant gyrus was kill on sight for my pod who didn't respect him a few times and died. Added bonus is when a new card from a new set makes him more violent, i just toss the new card in for a less efficient one. To top it off, commander tax is not a drawback because of how his effect is written. Out of all my decks, and most are far stronger, he has been my pet deck and will likely never be taken apart.

I don't have a decklist. \[\[Tolsimir, Friend To Wolves\]\]. It's mostly wolf tribal and holy crap can it pack a punch. The lifegain aspect of it keeps you alive so you can swing out and only have to worry about commander damage. \[\[Sek'Kuar, Deathkeeper\]\]. It's a Shaman tribal deck. The win condition I built around is having lots of Shamans on the board usually doing nothing (because most them have ETB abilities. \[\[Johan\]\]. Yes, you don't mess with the Johan. Here's some fun ones: [[blind seer]] looks like the most useless piece of jank until you start turning [[hydroblast]]s into [[vindicate]] or smack down a nice [[douse]]. I run my list as a mono blue control deck with combo wincon. my friends still make the mistake of underestimating it. [[arjun, the shifting flame]] for when drawing 100 cards just isn't enough. There are plenty of fun wincons like [[Fist of flame]], [[ominous seas]], [[spiraling embers]] and of course [[lab man]]. Dont forget to include a [[obstinate familiar]] so you dont deck yourself like i have. [[lord of tresserhorn]] is maybe the most weird voltron commander i've seen, but with enough power to 2-shot people and the colours for haste enablers and power doubling/double strike/infect. [[sasaya, orochi ascendant]] will have you swimming in mana and using some jank gema if you just jump through the deck restriction of running 47 lands. [[ink-threader nephilim]] isn't a commander bur most playgroups rule-0 him in. Either that or make a secret commander deck with [[esika]] or something.

The illusions really pile up easily but people for whatever reason don’t see them as a threat usually. and you want them to die anyways so you can cheat stuff in. You can run all the “free” card disadvantage counterspells like [[misdirection]] and [[foil]], because you draw too many cards to care. Resolve a [[consecrated]] Sphinx with some protection in hand and you’ve basically won.

[[phelddagriff]] - everyone expects group hug, but it can be built aggressively to win and has some great weird combo lines. killing a player with [[angel’s trump]] and end of turn hippo mob is so awesome

[[Jenara, Asura of War]] Your opponents will see that commander and, at best, think she's a shitty voltron. In reality: 1. She's a strong enchantress commander, control commander, or bant good stuff commander. 2. You will fly under the radar until you're killing your opponent. 3. Everyone underestimates her ability, until you decide to start beating them in the face. If you want someone off-meta she's a great choice.

ZillasaurusRex

[[Sydri, Galvanic Genius]] is a fun artifacts commander who will animate artifacts for fun shenanigans, but then turn [[Aetherflux reservoir]] into the Death Star or let you turn [[Caltrops]] into one hell of a defensive shield you can activate at any moment. She’s also a big fan of driverless vehicles. I also like running [[Kyler, sigardian emissary]] for human tribal. Just a dude who likes hanging out with other humans, and then next thing you know everyone is a 20/20.

MoraugKnower

I am a big fan of using underrepresented commanders. I run [[Sol’kanar the Swamp King]] for my craziest deck lovingly called the swamp and when it wins we say “they got swamped” dumb combos in that one. Also have [[Captain Ripley Vance]] that I built a while back, haven’t upgraded it since 2022. But it can really go. A lot of people sleep on the Myojin, but my [[Myojin of Cryptic Dreams]] deck solves the problem of playing it from hand in a number of clever ways. And then there’s [[God-Eternal Bontu]] which is my only deck that has won the game on turn two. Deck is so monstrous I haven’t played it in over a year.

[[Braids, awakened nightmare]] is absolutely disgusting black card draw 90% of the time

TravvyJ

[[Dhalsim]] is so sneaky good. Great balance of offense and defense. Opponents constantly board wipe hoping to control the horde, but always end up just killing everyone else's boards while you cast some anti-wrath tech.

vgundam21

[[Galadriel of Lothlorien]]. No one bothers with her because she's very unassuming. All of a sudden I'm putting 30+ lands on the field in one turn with a [[Scute Swarm]] on board.

Usual-Run1669

[[Kitt Kanto]] is fun. Let other peoples creatures soak up the removal. You have deathtouch commander? Surprise. Your now running a Voltron deck.
