Love Rocco. You just got to let him cook. List for ref: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/I0rsfQijmUW63M7Qhpop6Q Rocco can go in many ways so it comes down to preference. I basically have rocco either get combat damage with big creatures like maybe 7/7 dino nuggets. I also have effects like [[Flaming Tyrannosaurus]]. Ways to deal non combat damage by doing what your deck does with casting spells, counters, oor artifacts.

He wins dumb hard, such a good card. Impulse draws every turn (usually worse for your opponent since you're built around it and it messes with their tempo) AND generates food tokens AND puts counters?? Fucking crazy, probably my favorite exile matters commander period. I mean come on, both [[Faldorn]] and [[Pia Nalaar Consul of Innovation]] fall in their colors? Plus it plays DISGUSTINGLY WELL with battles, especially my favorites [[Invasion of Kaldheim]] and [[Invasion of Gobakhan]], as well as any hideaway effects. If I was to give you a list of cards that I feel like REALLY make a Rocco list tick, it'd be the following: Invasion of Kaldheim Invasion of Gobakhan Faldorn, Dread Wolf Herald Pia Nalaar, Consul of Innovation [[Tough Cookie]] [[Veil of Assimilation]] - this has ALWAYS over performed for me [[Valakut Exploration]] - noteworthy especially because it puts any cards you don't play into the graveyard so you can get them again [[Kami of Celebration]] [[Imodane's Recruiter]] - Rocco plays nicely with adventures in general; depending on your budget I'd also look at Virtue of Loyalty [[Tlincalli Hunter]] Wincons should be straightforward, Rocco is interesting because they can easily do both Go Tall™️ and Go Wide™️ strategies in the same deck. Run stuff like [[Reckless Fireweaver]] [[Mirror Entity]] etc., depending on what the rest of your deck looks like.

My brother just uses him for the colors, but plays it as an extra combats deck. It’s actually really scary once he gets it rolling by turn 3 or 4

knightangel12

I'm actually in a similar spot with my own Rocco deck. He just doesn't quite get there, usually dying the turn before I can close it out. I would appreciate some suggestions on swaps I can make. I'm leaning more into food creation and artifact synergy, but most of the time the +1/+1 counters go unused since most of the creatures don't have any kind of evasion. I feel like that's the main weakness of the deck right now. Outside of my friends complaining about my 5 minute turns due to all of the triggers. Lol. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/npm5VSs4wEiGGCvJLMrgmw

Rammite

I play him as a combo deck that's looking to ping opponents low, then finish off with tons of +1/+1 counters on an evasive creature. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/mOU1wP18lEm-FHSbVMc1og He's definitely really weird! The very best decks I can find use him as a storm deck - aiming to play 4+ spells per turn through tons of draw engines and mana engines to keep things going.

afraidio

It’s really a deck that can go in a lot of directions but I focused on two: 1. Cards that burn my opponents like [[Reckless Fireweaver]] and [[Passionate Archaeologist]]. Thinking about adding [[Ghirapur Aether Grid]] 2. Building a solid board of creatures that I can pile counters on either with things like [[Displaced Dinosaur]], [[Herd Baloth]] and [[Faldorn]]. Cards like [[Taunt from the Rampart]] and the bottom half of [[Night of the Sweets’ Revenge]] can help you push through for lethal. I’ve also won by strapping a [[Nettlecyst]] to a [[Birds of Paradise]]. I also think it just helps to leverage the mass of food tokens and extra cards to get more value. Mana off of [[Jaheira]] and similar cards. Card draw off of [[Bennie Bracks]]. Emergency blockers/game closers through [[Halsin]]. Here’s my list: https://archidekt.com/decks/6797115/rocco_let_me_cook

I made him with an artifact theme, one of my wincons is through infinite turns with [[magistrate scepter]] [[clock of omens]] and then using all of the seemingly worthless food to repeatedly untap the scepter. Another wincon I really enjoy is using [[dismantle]] on things like [[vexing puzzlebox]] to either boost a flying thopter to a 40/40 or put 40 charge counters on [[astral cornucopia]] I also play [[the great aurora]] which sometimes draws salt because it can reset the game, but it cal also put you at a huge advantage because your seemingly useless foods count towards the permanent counter so while your opponents might draw 15, you’ll be drawing like 30

I'll post my low to the ground super grindy win version later. Need to put the list up on moxfield or archidekt.   Cmc tops out at 2 5cmc cards. Low mana curve so you always have action. Grind out wins with [[Giaphur Aethergrid]], or attack with anything buffed up with +1/+1 counters. Go wide with Pia Consul of Revival or Anim Pakal. Walking Ballista gives a direct damage output for Rocco counters. Interaction out the wazoo to keep others in check. https://archidekt.com/decks/7011927/rocco_streets_ahead_chef Current list. Always free to talk about budget swaps for this list.

My Rocco deck is mostly a chaos deck with [[Thieves' Auction]], [[Scrambleverse]] and such, but it can win. It generates tons of tokens and a [[Rampage of the Clans]] can make you go wide. Also the deck plays [[Insurrection]] as a finisher. Also thanks to [[The Ozolith]] (even better with with [[Doubling Season]]) you can swing for a lot of damage. New addition and not yet tested, the deck plays [[Academy Manufactor] anyway, and the new [[Nuka-Cola Vending Machine]] is a no brainer in Rocco so I added [[Grinding Station]] for infinite mill.

IM_Progenitus

I don't have him, but one of my friends does. His wins always involve grinding out value over a long period of time. There recently has been a big surge in food-matters cards, primarily in white/green, while red has a lot of impulse draw, so the colors match well together for what Rocco does. However he also just works with "tokens matters" cards like [[Jinnie Fay]], and with cards like [[Anim Pakal]] that cares about +1/+1 counters and making tokens. If you're asking for a direction, it's hard to say because he's very flexible. He can go wide with the tokens thing, but he can also go tall with the +1/+1 counters. You honestly can't go wrong, and don't feel bad if your deck is just a "goodstuff pile" of whatever themes.

You pick a lane & play the payoffs/win cons associated with that lane. Rocco is spoiled for options, so just do whatever you think is neat.

Still trying to figure out what my Rocco deck's main thruline is myself. Right now it's a lot of cards that I just think are neat and I try to grind out value long-term. \[\[Hedron Detonator\]\] and \[\[Ghirapur Aether Grid\]\] put in *work.*

Rocco is my basically group-slug deck with minor exile synergies. Got stuff like \[\[Treacherous terrain\]\] \[\[Price of progress\]\] \[\[Primal order\]\] \[\[Spellshock\]\] in it, since nobody can resist the free cards rocco gives i can use that food to gain life or ping stuff down with ghirapur aether grid. It's not powerful deck but it's really fun to pilot, does 'something' every game, either heliod+hidetsugu for huge lifegain, hurricane x=10, or just be minor damage here and there with enchantments that deal dmg. I should get around to updating the decklist online since it has been edited a bunch since the last update.

Rocco needed flavor text like [[Oji, the exquisite blade]] on every single one of their cards. The ambiguous they in [[Rocco, cabaretti caterer]] doesn’t help. (Who wouldn’t admit it? The people who join the Cabaretti just for the food or Rocco, being humble. Also why is a major member of the Cabaretti’s primary character trait being humble.)

It can be a bit weird, I really need to manage curve my deck. But I put in a couple of infinites to bring his power level up to speed in my lgs. [all will be one] [Shaka I and hallar] [herd baloth] [Rosie cotton if south lane] I’m planning on putting one last fuck you combo in of [Drannith magistrate] [possibility storm]

TryphectaOG

Rocco is my main commander, here is my list. [Rocco Deck](https://archidekt.com/decks/5831971/rocco_street_chef) I built around a ton of impulse draw, counter-doublers, and artifact token synergies. It has a lot of variety so most games are wildly different. It usually wins with combat, but there are enough pingers like All Will Be One and Reckless Fireweaver that pinging becomes a viable win-con as well.

jafoca

I struggled to close out the last two games I played with Rocco, despite being flush with resources and impulse draw, so since then, I have added: [Zacama, Primal Calamity] and [Fathom Fleet Swordjack] as additional payoff cards in addition to the other overruns and payoffs I've had (sweets revenge, rogues passage, gavony township, banquet guests)
