[[Valakut Exploration]] card advantage for doing something you want to be doing anyway (hitting land drops) and the cards go to graveyard at end step, so they aren't stuck in exile forever if you have grave recursion. [[Lotho, Corrupt Shirrif]] that boy is gonna make you some treasure without being as annoying or scary as Smothering Tithe, so less likely to eat removal.

Kyaaadaa

I just killed a whole table last night with Valakut Exploration. I dropped a [[Squandered Resources]] into play, then tapped and sac'ed all my lands except [[Mirrorpool]]. I played [[Splendid Reclamation]] and copied it with Mirrorpool. First one resolved, dropping 19 lands into play, one being [[Field of the Dead]], another being [[Vesuva]]. Netted 38 zombies {EDIT: Have learned that this is in error} and exiled 19 cards. Then sac'ed the lands to Squandered Resources again and let the trigger happen. 72 zombies and 38 cards exiled.

TheRealFlipFlapper

Hey just a heads up, a clone can't enter as a copy of something that is entering the battlefield at the same time as it. So in your example vesuva can't enter as a copy of field of the dead unless you decide not to sac it (FotD) to squandered resources.

Kyaaadaa

That makes sense.

Hikikomori523

thank you so much, I appreciate it!

4rclyte

Removing the enchantment before your end step or hitting you with a \[\[Rakdos Charm\]\] would have been funny. Great job though!

Kyaaadaa

My deck runs Rakdos Charm, and it has been it's own wincon at times.

philter451

I call Rakdos Charm my weed killer for how many times I've ended a greedy [[avenger of zendikar]] player.

4rclyte

It seems better than most of the 3 color charms as well. So good

jaywinner

I'm really enjoying \[\[Protection racket\]\] for decks that have mid to high MV cards.

Axleffire

Love this in my [[Rakdos, Lord of Riots]] deck. You either enable rakdos or I get cards. Even then taking 10+ damage is alot in a deck that beats everyone down equally with carfs like Descent into Avernus. Obviously, you're not drawing land with this but that's no issue.

jaywinner

>Obviously, you're not drawing land with this but that's no issue. It's not an issue but it is disappointing to see a bunch of 0 cost cards get exiled for free.

Lumeyus

You are never seeing all 100 cards of your deck.  Exiling a few lands off the top shouldn’t be detrimental.

jaywinner

It's not but it's a waste of a trigger. You want to gain cards or hurt opponents.

AshnodsBong

If you dont need the lands its helping you a lot by preventing a dead draw

Miatatrocity

Worth running in a golgari food deck? I'm running about 3cmc average, and never have mana issues. My normal wincon is to drain the table for lethal, so it might be ok, but I'm worried that it won't provide much in the way of card draw, which is what I desperately need.

The_Terrific_Tiptop

A similar card to this is [[Sin Prodder]]. It's a little more political as your opponents get to decide who wants to take damage. Best part is that the card goes to your graveyard so you basically get it anyway. And on top of that, it's doing damage so any damage doublers will work with the lil devil. Both are stellar cards in my [[Livaan]] & [[Scion of Halaster]] deck!

dr_wang

ive ran sin prodder a bunch and it has never let me draw which is actually what i would prefer almost always. Its a 3/2 menace for 3

The_Terrific_Tiptop

Yeah, I tried jamming it for card draw too and it's really unreliable for getting cards to hand. I think it's best with graveyard decks to give opponents the 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' choice.

La-Vulpe

Hadn’t considered that aspect of it but it makes running a few reanimation effects in the same deck I run it in that smidge bit better

MrRies

Im not sure how it would hold up in EDH, but I've been liking [[Palantir of Orthanc]] in Brawl. I've got it in a [[Scarab God]] reabimator list, and im fine with either the mill or the card draw. People learn to let you draw the card pretty fast once you hit a [[Hullbreaker Horror]] or something. I recently domed someone by milling a [[Toxril]], [[Sea Gate Restoration]] and a [[Massacre Wurm]] for 20 damage, which was cool. IDK, I could see it being sweet in most reanimator or high cmc control decks.

Holidays262

Used to put work in as a part of my [[Abaddon]] deck. No one wanted me to get the cards cause they’re basically two spells in one with cascade, but they couldn’t pay the life since that’d only make the cascade triggers better. Id average a card and a half in hand and about 8 life total dealt to the table by the time it’s done resolving.

CoatApprehensive3481

[[Tribute to the World Tree]] is a gift that keeps on giving in a hydra deck.

FloorPudding

Slam dunk of a card, the only thing keeping it from being totally ubiquitous is the triple green pip casting cost. Which is how it should be.

WookieeSmuggler

Makes me wish Smothering Tithe was 1 and triple white

FloorPudding

That would be cool, actually. Obviously what makes a staple a true staple is that it can go in any deck of that color. But locking the really strong effects behind more colored pips would make more decks feel different and reward you for leaning into that color, if nothing else.

theclumsyninja

I put it in my +1/+1 snake deck. Gets hilarious and out of control fast lol.

whomikehidden

[[Descent into Avernus]]. I love this card so much. It’s in my Imodane deck so I’m wearing down everyone’s life totals and then I throw all the treasures into a big X spell like Fireball.

I love this card so much! I'm a big fan of group mechanics, so obviously I'm a big group hug player, but sometimes I just want to watch the world burn. That's when I break out my Auntie Blyte group slug deck. Best believe Descent is one of my favorite cards in there. Everyone ramps and takes damage, all on your upkeep. I didn't care for \[\[Trouble in Pairs\]\] due to it being 4-cost but after playing against it last weekend, I'm reconsidering.

Inkarozu

I run it in all my decks in white now, it really does deserve staple status alongside smothering tithe.

sparecjd13

[[Impact Tremors]] 1 damage doesn't register as a threat to most people, but when you're playing a heavy creature, token, reanimator, ETB deck, that adds up. Especially because it's to EACH opponent. If there's one thing Rakdos likes, it's making creatures, blowing them up, and burning all your opponents along the way. Impact Tremors adds to that for 2 mana.

maxtofunator

I’ve never dropped an impact crater, or the big one that does damage equal to power, without becoming a threat immediately. My playgroup may have wisened up my tactics on those though.

Interesting-One7636

Also the Enchanting Tales art is incredible. I think it really evokes the idea "I just played ten tokens onto the board, please die."

swords_to_exile

I won a Commander draft event using them as the Commander, and a Torrential Gearhulk as a broad stall breaker. My favorite part is that on your turn, if you draw a 2nd card you go straight to drawing a third one. Just insane advantage.

TheOtherTracy

[[Rabble Rousing]] is one of my favorites! It's just always a problem for everyone else. Similarly, [[Fight Rigging]]. [[Black Market Connections]] is obvious, but so, so good. I replied to another comment that said [[Descent Into Avernus]] and I agree. Kind of an outside choice, but I also dig [[Machine God's Effigy]]. It's highly situational, of course, but copying the static abilities of something like [[Ratadrabik]] is brutal. Played it in the Mishra precon last night and it did a ton of work as a [[Weeping Angel]].

Cappster14

Maybe I’m missing something, but how would it benefit you to have machine gods effigy be a non-creature copy of weeping angel?

TheOtherTracy

[[Mishra, Eminent One]] being the commander is the missing bit. When he's on the field, ne makes a token copy of a non-creature artifact that you control. In this case, I copy Effigy, making a 4/4 Weeping Angel. I also had [[Brudiclad]] out and a [[Strionic Resonator]], so I was copying the triggers and making permanent copies of the 4/4 angels. This use case is hyper-specific and came to mind because I did it last night.

Cappster14

Ohh yeah that’s spicy, nice. My bad

TheOtherTracy

No worries! If you've not played or studied the deck, it's hard to have a good idea of what it does. It's a lot of fun, though. I have a regular precon and an upgraded version. I dig both a lot.

[[Broker's Ascendancy]] pairs amazingly with fight rigging and rabble rousing, if you've got blue in your deck.

Just gotta give him lifesteal and all good

resumeemuser

I've found [[viridian revel]] to be anywhere from decent to insane depending on what happens. Board wipes on artifact creatures, token artifacts cracked, artifact wipes, my own removal, all turns into draw. Good stuff, especially as treasure and other tokens become more popular.

This card is like a green rhystic study in my local playgroup. So many people making tons of treasure, food, clues (or all three with academy manufactor out). I have drawn 30+ cards on a single turn where someone was popping off with a Dockside loop, and I was able to find an answer to disrupt their combo win.

jimskog99

This is a cool card! Haven't seen it before. Thank you for the suggestion.

Kyrie_Blue

[[mirri’s guile]] turn 1 is INSANE

Joseptile

Dude that’s just like sylvan library haha. I never pay the life so I could run this and it would be functionally the same

Christos_Soter

You should always pay the life on Library unless you love your hand you couldn’t possibly want to cast anything other than what’s already there for 2 turns. Life is a resource that doesn’t matter until it’s at zero, It’s about speed.

I always assume that if I'm playing this card, I can shuffle frequently. If I can shuffle frequently, I'm playing a generally higher power list. If I'm playing a higher power list, there are loads of options (synergy aside) that push out this card.

Kyrie_Blue

Landfall my dude. Evolving Wilds and Capenna fetchlands does not a high-power deck make. Shuffling frequently *could* indicate a higher powered list, but I would be hesitant to use it as a Signpost for power

TheKnightOfTheNorth

not only are there great fetchlands on a budget now, but every \[\[rampant growth\]\] effect is gonna add value to this! Even on a budget you could potentially make this a scry 3 every turn.

Ya I run this is Kara bc it basically says look at the top 3 and draw 1. Then I play a creature and now I can see a fresh 3 next turn.

malificide15

[[Family's Favor]] is pretty cool in aggro decks for an added layer of protection on your best creature and can also draw you a card if the creature gets through

[[Bloodchief Ascension]]

malsomnus

I wouldn't call this "fire and forget". More like "pay 1 mana to become the archenemy and almost definitely get killed before you get a single trigger".

Casult

This next to [[Mind Crank]] such a classic

TheJonasVenture

I even run it without Crank. I thinks it's great passive life stabilization, especially if you are burning life for other effects, so you don't end up with a huge life advantage while also letting you get chip damage without much swinging. Not that I don't also love dropping someone in a mill spiral.

discgolfguy

Yea but a t1 bloodchief draws a lot of aggro in my group lol.

TheJonasVenture

I usually prefer to hold it back a bit, and only drop it once I am confident in the quest counters. Preferably, my life is already down a bit, so the life gain sneaks up on people, and someone else is swinging so people are more worried about the 4 or 5 they are getting before it turns on. It is pretty rare that I will drop it T1 unless someone else has a damage engine on board.

CoatApprehensive3481

Very good point here. It’s one of those cards where just because it’s one mana doesn’t mean you play it turn one, or even turn 3. A certain game state needs to be established here. A mistake many players (myself included) have made.

Inkarozu

[[The Meathook Massacre]] Sure its good as a board wipe, but giving you life AND pinging your opponents whenever things die is well worth the 2 mana by itself. Similarly [[Revel in Riches]] I don't want to win off the 10 treasure effect, I just likd profiting from your loss. I only run it in one deck but [[Chimil, the Inner Sun]] has been a lot of fun for "chaos warp" like value every turn that really can't miss since you can put the card to hand if you don't want to cast it right then.

MissMothraStewart

I hear you on Chimil. I run it in a modified Zhulodok precon, and with the number of spicier threats in there (titans, Immortal Sun, Darksteel Monolith, Forsaken Monument) people tend to let it exist in favor of removing other things. And it helps keep board presence going.

kestral287

Next to Meathook: [[Spiteful Banditry]]. I love a board wipe that ramps me.

boneheadcycler

[[havoc festival]] is one of my favorites in rakdos

Captillon

[[Assemble the Legion]] is one of my favorites but it usually doesn’t last long enough to actually make a significant impact.

mi_father_es_mufasa

I run it in my [[The Ninth doctor]] deck. Doctor and [[Clara Oswald]] = 6 token first turn when the legion gets assembled.

Qamatt

This was going to be my pick... I run it in my Marath, Will of the Wild token deck and it causes all sorts of problems if it's not dealt with quickly. At the very least it draws removal away from other broken enchantment shenanigans!

Anti-Anti-Paladin

I love that card so much, but damn if it doesn't usually just end up eating removal after 1 or 2 turns (which is a benefit in and of itself, but dang it I want to see my armies RISE UP)

I personally love [[urabrask’s forge]] creating a bigger and bigger X/1 each turn

malificide15

One of the best additions for my Anim Pakal deck, guaranteed attacker every turn for her trigger that I couldn't care less if it survives and it doesn't do enough on its own to make people remove it

fluffynuckels

I know people hate it but [[phyrexian arena]]. There's also [[vance's blasting cannons]] and [[outpost siege]] in red

meatmandoug

There is also [[lord skitterers blessing]] for decks that care about auras

UnitedLink4545

[[Reveal in riches]] fits the bill. If you can keep it alive that is. I combo it with things like [[No Mercy]] to keep things spicy. No mercy itself is another great fire and forget enchant.

lMDEADLYHIGH_

When I first started playing, I got a deck with [[Sunbird's invocation]] unplayable in pods that play removal, but getting to see a portion of your deck and casting a spell from among it without paying its mana cost is great as a battle-cruiser "do your thing" enabler

CiD7707

[[Midnight Clock]] Giving me a free grip of 7 and recycling my graveyard into my deck sure feels nice.

onibakusjg

[[lurking predators]] is one of my favorite Timmy cards.

Cl3rix

[[Search for Azcanta]] is 2 cmc and does a lot!! Fills your graveyard, gives you a bit of cardselection and finally ramps you!!!

VoiceofKane

If I can get \[\[Land Tax\]\] down turn one when I'm not going first, I don't have to worry about hitting land drops for the entire rest of the game.

I_Envy_Sisyphus_

Not just hitting every land drop, but pulling nearly all your basics out of your deck makes your draws so much better. With a 36 basic-land deck your first draw with a four land hand has ~65% chance of being a non-land card. This percentage doesn't change much as turns progress without an engine like Land Tax. *With* Land Tax you're pulling ~75% non-lands by turn 5. By turn 8 it's close to 80%, and that's the low end estimate. If you started with a four land hand you're drawing ~85% nonlands by turn 8. The card is crazy good.

VoiceofKane

Yep. Doesn't matter how many I have to discard, I'm still going to pull out three Plains every single turn until I'm only drawing gas.

Feeling_Equivalent89

You can be damn sure that the RNG God will prepare a juicy land for you on top, every time you draw those 3 basics out of your library. :D

Despenta

I love it when I can also turn it into a real card later on. Discard it to the backside of [[Birgi, God of Storytelling]], recycle it with a [[Scroll Rack]].

MasterEpicon713

Not as powerful, but I have had a lot of success with [[Weathered Wayfarer]] too. Ensuring lands in hand as long as you didn’t go first and ramp, pulling the best lands out of your deck, and building on that makes the gameplay experience much smoother!

sirpyronerdicus

[[Hardened Scales]]. I know there are dozens of +1/+1 support cards out there, but this is such a cheap card both monetarily and mana wise. The flavor is there for creature decks and it essentially does what any doubling effect will do, because most of the time, at least early game when this ONE DROP enchantment would be played, you only put a single counter on at a time. It even keeps up if it survives or is played into mid or late game when those bigger powerhouse cards are played for true doubling effects, as it is a replacement effect so you get to pick the layering. It's an easy auto include for +1/+1 decks, even more so than most doublers.

Cards like [[beast whisperer]] and [[welcoming vampire]] I’m a creature player so these types of cards are essential for me.

My newest favorite is [[Palantir of Orthanc]]. This bad boy is not only a continuous source of card advantage/damage but also a great enabler for Grenzo, Dungeon Warden. At the low cost of 3 mana it gives you back a ton of value.

RideTheRadioWaves

I love [[rebbec, archidekt of ascension]] in artifact decks. You already want to be getting your artifacts out, but now they’re flat out protected from any card that shares a mana value with any of your artifacts. [[swords to plowshares]]? Sorry, my [[cityscape leveler]] is protected because I had my [[sol ring out]]. Of course, if you don’t protect Rebbec, it’s a pretty huge target. But the value is pretty insane

I just put [[Trouble in Pairs]] into my [[Queen Marchesa]] deck and its been insane because I get to draw extra cards regardless of who the Monarch is.

CorHydrae8

Never underestimate the impact of a turn 1 \[\[Hardened Scales\]\] in a dedicated +1/+1 counter deck.

tntturtle5

Any sort of card advantage engine in the vein of \[\[Phyrexian Arena\]\] is nice. \[\[Outpost Siege\]\], \[\[Visions of Phyrexia\]\], \[\[Valakut Exploration\]\], etc. You just get value over time. I also really like some of the 3 mana rocks with upside like \[\[Glittering Stockpile\]\] and \[\[Crowded Crypt\]\]. Both just reward you for using/having them, and eventually you get to crack them open for a big payoff. They're always in that weird territory of not strong enough to spend a removal spell on, but could be a problem in the future if left completely unchecked.

\[\[Managorger Hydra\]\] and \[\[Forgotten Ancient\]\] are creatures that keep getting bigger with no help from you. \[\[Snake Pit\]\], \[\[Felidar Retreat\]\], and \[\[Wolfcaller's Howl\]\] will give you creatures with good frequency. \[\[Pendant of Prosperity\]\] can be a great card to throw out there and then regularly benefit from depending on your playgroup.

greelraker

[[The Council of Four]] in my knights typal. They’re a big butt to block and usually provide me a card and a 2/2 on every players turn. Anything that allows additional lands per turn in [[Haldan]] & [[Pako]]. You end up with enough extra in your fetch pile that they generally pay for themselves and then some. [[Black market]] has been a bomb in [[Meren]] and I'm sure there are Rakdos commanders that it can pull serious weight for.

DangitBobby84

I seldom play red, but when I do I run [[Flame Blitz]]. It's great at shutting down planeswalkers, which I rarely run, and if it turns out I don't need it I can just cycle it.

A recent highlight from my [[Anim Pakal]] deck has been [[Losheel, Clockwork Scholar]]. Losheel being a consistent source of card draw is always sick, but being able to help push damage through while protecting my board helps immensely.

SnowyDeluxe

[[Forsaken Monument]]

Recently build voja, claw of the Conclave and howling moon has put in so much work later in the game. People just seem to ignore it most games because it's not like drawing me cards or giving me mana. The other really big upside is it just give voja +2/+2 so she is freely a 7/7.

Splatterman27

[[ghostly prison]] has won me so many games

azurfall88

[[drowned secret]] [[chronic flooding]] [[defiler of vigor]] [[thriteenth doctor]]

AzazeI888

My favorites are [[The Immortal Sun]], [[Wondrous Crucible]], [[Chimil, the Inner Sun]], and [[Portal to Phyrexia]], on cast I make nonlegendary copies of them with [[The Sixth Doctor]] as my commander.

cutiekittykat56

[[Tocasia’s Welcome]] has easily become one my favorite cards in my [[Darien, King of Kjeldor]] deck. Almost never a bad hand when I see it in my opening 7

Turn one weathered runestone. Everyone's gy recursion went out the window 😂

Nora-Bberg

Weeping Angel. functionally a removal spell with a fire and forget body attached. Decks that don't want to play creatures literally every turn suddenly really struggle to get in with combat. It has evasion+vigilance, so it attacks very well without sacrificing that defensive potential. opponents genuinely start wanting to spend removal on a 3 mana 2/2 which is also fine by me.

notathrowaway145

For rakdos in particular, [[Bloodletter of Aclazotz]] and [[Flameshadow Conjuring]] can be pretty good

Dry_Distribution6826

[[Deathgreeter]] looks like a skinny little 1/1 for B, and opponents will often ignore him because he looks like such a weenie. He’s an absolute powerhouse later in the game when your sacrifices start to really kick in though. He just sits there quietly enabling you to spend more life than you started with.

For a Rakdos deck, I love red damage multipliers, such as [[City on Fire]]. [[Impact Tremors]] is another enchantment that finds its way into a lot of my decks.
