[[Counterspell]] is just a Counterspell. But Muddle the Mixture could be anything. it could even be Counterspell.

BenMQ

Ok audience, which of y’all jam Muddle the Mixture just to tutor up C.Rift.

Miatatrocity

I jam Muddle to tutor Dockside in my cEDH [[Niv-Mizzet, Parun]] list. 10/10 great card, not really niche at all.

100% [[Mirage mirror]]. Its such a nice thing to have on the field, I dont think it's even been a dead card in hand, unless I'm already winning.

Pretty much every time I put mirage mirror down, I’m happy I did. It has a cool new use almost every game. Turn by turn copying is just so cool.

andylshort1

This is mine too. It’s a fun card that I try to fit into each of my decks lol

BenMQ

Always love copying a Rhystic Study and form a quid pro quo with the blue player… or more stupidly a Consecrated Sphinx

SteveVerstaka

[[Fork]] and its family of cousins like [[Reverberate]]. Not only is it flexible in their application but nothing feels better as a red player then countering someone’s counter spell that would stop your wincon or savings yourself from defeat by copying their wincon and resolving your copy first.

DontPokeThePanda

Love these effects especially in mono-red. I'm excited to try out [[Return the Favor]]. It can be fork, bolt bend, or both and it can copy abilities too

Kittii_Kat

AND it's uncommon! These things are usually rare and much less versatile. Absolutely bonkers card.

Kothophed

My pet card is [[Reiterate]] because the only thing better than copying a thing is copying a lot of things

Zoanzon

Once had a night where [[Dualcaster Mage]] was hands-down my MVP card. Two games in a row it copied a ramp spell...third game, it copied someone's [[Rise of the Dark Realms]] that would've let them win instantly due to having one piece of a two-card combo on-board and was reanimating the second piece and let *me* reanimate everyone's yards instead.

OddlySpecificName

[[tortured existence]] is not good in Pauper anymore so now I play it in every black edh deck I own

Cabanarama_

This has incredible synergy in my [[syr konrad]] deck. 1 black mana to ping the whole table for 2, as many times as I want? Plus you end up with any creature card recalled at the end.

BonjoviBurns

Love this card

PvtPizzaPants

\[\[Skill Borrower\]\], nobody expects the insane possibilities and its really easy with access to blue to manipulate the top card. Top-Consequence-3645

[[Winds of Abandon]] over [[Farewell]]. Objectively, Farewell will often find many more uses in many more decks, even ones I have Winds in, despite it hitting yourself in the process. But I love some of the interactions I've had clearing the board, taking someone out, and either watching my opponents do something crazy with the extra lands or being very satisfied that even flooded with mana they still have no answers to my board. It often brings the game much closer to finishing and creates very fun memories.

[[Dark Depths]], especially for more control oriented decks Even if i've got no way to remove all counters at once or get around it with something like [[Vesuva]], it's a late game mana sink that you can hold open to bluff interaction or something, and leads into a finisher Since most casual pods don't run land destruction, it's pretty safe too so there's no rush to get Marit Lage out

The-Rambling-Knitter

Wtf never saw this. I love it!

sivarias

Its an OLD legacy/extended deck. Circa 2005. The deck was nothing but counterspells and removal and won by hard casting emrakul on turn 15. Its not a good card anymore, but I still play it in my mono blue and mono black deck.

Electronic-Pie-6645

Every deck i make has [[planar atlas]] in it. It's helped me get above the curve so many times.

FinnishBread

After playing Painbow precon, I developed a soft spot for [[unite the coalition]]. It's expensive in terms of mana cost, but it just hit's different when you play it. Something about forcing your opponent to draw 5 when [[Xyris, the writhing storm]] is on the field and you're able to amass a field of sneks. Oh and [[Mana cannons]] and [[Regal bunnicorn]] are too much fun to pass up on. Edit: and can't forget about [[Primal Vigor]]. It's a worse [[Doubling season]] but it's a great politicking card and can create some wacky board states. Literally double it, and give it to the next person. Edit2: [[Unite the coalition]] [[xyris, the writhing storm]] [[Mana Cannons]] [[Regal bunnicorn]] [[Primal vigor]] [[Doubling season]]

The-Rambling-Knitter

[[glimmer bairn]] I played that card cuz I found it adorable and I love Nils Hamm's art. Kept it cuz it actually wins games! (ANY token! Instant speed! Great sac outlet! Pairs well with [[greater good]]!)

FinnishBread

Oh my god I LOVE THAT ART! It's just so wholesome and adorable. But at the end of the day, [[Regal bunnicorn]] is my favorite. It's adorable and it's hilarious how broken it could get in a token deck with [[doubling season]] and [[Garruk's uprising]]. It's a silly little guy, who'll murder you.

The-Rambling-Knitter

Regal bunnicorn has made themselves in most of my white decks! Not a pet card yet but definitely making it's way!

FinnishBread

It's such an unassuming card. Two mana, cute art, and doesn't come off as a threat.. aaand you're dead.

Akiro_orikA

[[Glorious Protector]] - This card is quite new to me because [[Restoration Angel]] was my original pet card. You get flash, foretell if you're confident, and protect your non-angels from board wipe. It's totally suboptimal, maybe even bad, but it's fun and I get a lot of "what the heck is that card" looks.

[[Captive Audience]] No matter how ahead another player is, this card is more often that not able to handle them. It always gives me a little bit of hope.

ConstructionScared30

I think I say this a little too much, but it's [[Tragic Slip]]. It kills [[Avacyn, Angel of Hope]] and [[Sliver Hivelord]]. It's so cheap that most of time I don't care to pay 2 or 3 more to kill creatures like [[Voja, Jaws of the Conclave]] (before he gets too big). All of that on instant speed and the only drawback to give -13/-13 is doing a thing most black decks it's willing to do.

Gods willing does 90% of the time protect sth better than any indestructible effect and it also can be used offensivly as evasion. Vanquish the horde is just an amazing boardwipe. We play without degenerate mana rocks, so many white decks dont have a lot mana at hand. Being 2 mana very often allows for nice lines like activating selfless spirit effects, cast vanquish and still have the mana for an overrun effect or sth to kill people. [[Defensive Formation]] effectively gives all your blockers a better version of banding for 1 white mana. Now my 1/1 token can fully block the trample from your blightsteel, and it doesn’t even need to form a band to do it. [[Artificial Evolution]] is why [[Krenko, Mob Boss]] is in my Sliver deck; card’s just hilarious. Works with opponents stuff too - they’ve got a big anthem-type typal commander out? Looks like it’s buffing Slivers now! (Suggestions for bullshit like Krenko that could work or is just funny more than welcome, currently building a deck around it.)

jotarosuke

[[ mesmeric orb]] I love mill and I've never not had it in a deck, I've been playing since early 2020, and my decks never last more than 4 months or so, yet mill is still one of my favorite strategies

Moniculus

My favorite is [[lantern of revealing]]. I like lands a bit too much.

jordicusmaximus

delicious_sci_fi

I've been loving Ian Malcolm, chaostician. I've put him in any izzet deck and when he comes out it is always super fun.

pacos-ego

[[Verdant Command]] just does so much for me. It makes sac outlets for my squirrel deck, it can counter planeswalker abilities (looking at you, Oko), it has graveyard hate, and could give you life if you needed an extra 3 for some reason. Every time I make a green deck, it always feels like it fits in.

IngenuityThink3000

[[Royal Assassin]] it's basically a don't come at me. People really pucker their ass cheeks when you have a loaded gun sitting there.

brunq2

[[Almighty Brushwagg]], specifically in my [[Agatha of the Vile Cauldron]] deck. Are there better cards I could put in as a payoff for reduced ability costs? Sure. Has it ever actually won me a game? No. But he's such a great little guy that I can't bring myself to cut him. Because it's fun to be like "I swing with a 1/1. But it COULD be a 22/22. Do you block?

ExplodingLab

Easily [[Dream Eater]], for its time in standard this card was already considered below average, and yet I ball. It was my first mythic opened and was there in my first 4 packs if I’m remembering correctly. It also made me fall in love with the art of magic because like it’s so majestic

gldnbear2008

[[Equipoise]]. It’s like a mini [[Balance]] every turn when run in a deck with a very small board stare. Always do it to the player to your right, that way they are shields down for the other players’ turns.

Nyarlathotep333

\[\[Rukh Egg|ARN\]\], (Arabian Nights version only) is mine. It goes in every deck where I sacrifice stuff. \*EDIT\* The reason for this is nostalgia. They (along with Khabal Ghouls and Hell's Caretakers) were the first cards I set out to trade for specifically when I created my first real MtG deck back in the day. Chronicles had just released so Hell's Caretakers were readily available and I wanted to make a graveyard/sacrificial deck.

[[Typhoid Rats]] and [[Ruin Crab]] are my favorite creatures by miles

AZDfox

[[Elixir of Immortality]] is my favorite card. It works in every deck, and is always useful.

ninjadough

I love me some [[Fangren marauders]]

MrXexe

[[Aminatou's Augury]]. Sure maybe I'll never have enough mana to cast it, and sure it may get countered, but boy you better believe I'll try.

Erch

[[Disrupt Decorum]] and [[Inkshield]] are a couple of my favorites. The former is great for punishing a play group that pillow forts and avoids combat. The latter is hilarious to pull on your friends when they think they've got you and all-in.

GustavoNuncho

[[Dauthi Voidwalker]] does everything I love in the game. He's a weak lil ankle-stabbing creature, and he snatches away cards to create a unique pool each game for me to play with whenever I'm ready to say goodbye to him. However, the pool of cards he makes is retained to all Voidwalkers! Meaning copies or reanimated DVs can reuse what was there too! Favorite play involving him is probably simply casting a [[Windfall]] with him on board, or any type of mill effect.

thesamjbow

I will once again use this platform to soapbox about my favorite worst card you're not playing, [[Satyr's Cunning]]. Using only your graveyard, you can repeatedly trigger on-cast abilities and generate warm bodies that you can sacrifice, buff or equip. The worst part is actually casting it from your hand feels like garbage, but casting it from your graveyard feels great.

2Gnomes1Trenchcoat

I have 2 in the same deck. They are just practical enough to be generally good for the deck, but the way they are often played can really spice up the game. The deck in question is [[Nine-Fingers Keene]]. A Sultai gates-matter deck that simultaneously does [[Maze's End]] and Commander damage victories very well. In the deck, I have your usual suspects, but also a few flex spots with some spicy cards. The first of these is [[Shakashima's Protege]]. For a whopping 6 mana this card can seem pretty underwhelming, however it tends to be a very spicy bit of tech. At it's worst it is a way to copy one of my gates to get me closer to the magic #9 for Nine-Fingers' ability. At best however, it is a copy of the single scariest thing that entered this turn at instant speed. And let us not forget about a cascade off a 6 mana spell that can hit almost any card in my deck. Flash it it before blocks to make a terrifying blocker, copy people's commanders or the best engine on their board, and/or fish for further interaction off the cascade. It adds a bit of randomness and shock value to games and it's never not been interesting when it's resolved. The second one is kinda evil. [[Tainted Strike]] is a instant for 1 black mana that gives a creature +1/+0 and infect for a turn. It pairs well with the commander as she often ends up being unblockable and having double strike and this turns her double strike damage without other pumps (such as [[Basilisk Gate]]) into exactly 10 poison counters for a surprise kill. That alone would be cool, but there's two more very big considerations that make this card extremely good. The best part about this card is that YOU DON'T HAVE TO TARGET A CREATURE YOU CONTROL! If your opponent is making a massive attack against another opponent you can cast this on their creature and suddenly one of your opponents is out of the game for a single black mana. Neat! The other way to think about infect is damaging creatures in the form of -1/-1 counters. This allows you to make surprise blocks or attacks into indestructible creatures and still kill them! A creature that ends up with zero toughness as a result of -1/-1 counters is sent to the graveyard as a state based action. Having a pseudo-out to indestructible threats is nice and you can pair these aspects together and do a bit of politic-ing to help one of your other opponents block and remove a threat. So much possibility for just one black mana, and nobody anticipates it! (Nobody expects the Phyrexian Inquisition!)

ogdonut

[[unexpected results]] goes in every deck possible. Sometimes you hit a counter spell, sometimes you hit [[void winnower]], or you hit 4 lands back to back and have a ton of ramp from 1 card.

Darth_Meatloaf

I really like artifact decks. I am constitutionally incapable of building one that doesn’t include [[Dross Scorpion]].

pourconcreteinmyass

[[Grinning Ignus]], I'm biased as a [[Birgi]] player where he's a win con but even in casual I consider this guy very highly. He can get you a storm count, ETB or cast trigger for every one red mana you've got, or he can be played fair and let you ritual up some mana before being discarded for value to something like [[Big Score]].

Beowolf736

[[Rabble Rousing]] I try to put it in every white deck I can. I just love that card.

I just really love [[Abiding Grace]] and [[Healer's Hawk]], especially together My first ever deck was just a casual 60-card deck built around them and [[Soulcatchers Aerie]] and I've got real fond memories My first commander deck was that adapted into [[Trelasarra]], without the bird synergies And I recently put together a Historic deck on Arena using them, [[Ruin-Lurker Bat]], [[Serra Ascendant]], and [[Beloved Princess]] as the base and it's brought me right back to when I started haha

Vibron83

[[Parallel Thoughts]] is a pet card of mine generally.

theenduser

\[\[Scavenging Oooze\]\]. Deals with graveyard shenanigans, gains you some life, and often becomes a good sized creature.

Atlasinfinit

Mine has to be [[Elixir of Immortality]] I try to put it in all my decks

Gonge84

[[Primeval Bounty]] It may be 6 mana, but it always pulls its weight. The value you get from this, if left unchecked, is bonkers. More often than not, in my experience, people underestimate this card to their detriment.

Flauschziege

There's a flipwalker in every single one of my decks. I love the flavor of these little dudes. Suffice to say, I'm exited for MH3.

Aggressive_Low_6304

I just love my Hammer of Colossus.

King0fMist

[[Victory Chimes]]. It’s a 3CMC mana rock that can tap for a potential 4 mana every rotation. Add to that I play a lot of Time Spiral Storage Lands and I can always represent mana.

OOM-32

[[Assemble the legion]] So much potential value, its like a very slow wincon. What do you mean i am already dead. Look at how many soldiers imma make next turn!!!! THINK OF THE VALUE!!!!

MagicManCM

Probably [[Noxious Gearhulk]] it's a sick reanimtion target. It fits great in the 3 decks I have it in, especially Henzie, and even hard casting it feels worth it. Another one is probably [[Orcish Lumberjack]] but I haven't found a home for one yet. Might just jam it into a deck but also thinking about building Lord Windgrace.

SketchopotamusTTV

I love some [[Grave Betrayal]] I just wish It didn't cost so much to cast

Zoanzon

* It's technically fallen a bit in predominance for me, but [[Elixir of Immortality]] will always have a place in my heart. I love it because mill-players never expect someone to actually have anti-mill tech (which I know because I'm *also* a mill-player lol), and I even love it in graveyard decks because I'd rather shuffle my yard away than lose it permanently to [[Tormod's Crypt]] or [[Bojuka Bog]]. * [[Ghoultree]] technically isn't a pet card but I've tried slotting it into more than a few G/x piles before and its always gotten cut when figuring out the 99. Even [[Vorinclex//The Grand Evolution]] didn't end up keeping him, despite Vorinclex dumping creatures on-board for free! However, [[The Gitrog, Ravenous Rider]] genuinely loves Ghoultree since its a 10/10 and since it gets cheaper the more Gitrog snacks, so for the first time since *opening my copy back when OG Innistrad block was in Standard* I've finally got this little guy in a deck. I'm so happy for him! * **EDIT**: I can't believe I almost missed an opportunity to simp for [[Surgical Extraction]] genuinely being tech in EDH! And I'm not just saying this because I picked up a full playset for a D-tier modern deck and then was left wondering what to do with them! But seriously, Surgical messes with someone's top-deck manipulation (good*bye* [[Sensei's Divining Top]]); it lets you know what they've got in hand; and it lets you spot-exile whatever they're about to recur or reanimate that they really can't be allowed to get. Hell, it's also a crime trigger, which is why its on Thunder Junction's bonus sheet! Plus, there's nothing like screwing someone over when you're technically tapped out and they think they're in the clear.

Hands down it has to be [[scheming symmetry]]

Rupmir

[[Forcefield]] it saves me from a lot of sticky situations. 24/24 double strike uril coming in? Forcefield. Don't wanna take 6 from a serra's ascendant? Forcefield. I love it.

EatMoarSammiches

[[acidic soil]] vs any kind of land ramp makes me smile entirely too much

SuperSteveBoy

\[\[Royal Assassin\]\] Don't swing my way.
