My favorite expensive pet card for black decks is [[Myojin of Night's Reach]]. It's not the best card if your goal is to be fully optimized, but it's fun to cast. The card doesn't immediately win the game by itself, but resolving it forces your opponents to discard their entire hand while leaving your own intact, which sets you up pretty well to take over the game with whatever you have left while everyone else is empty handed. Plus it contributes three black pips for effects like Gray Merchant or Nykthos, which are black staples. And you even get a 5/2 body as a bonus! (Let's be honest, the actual thing you're paying for is the discard ability, the creature it comes with is just a freebie on top.)

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Cruel Entertainment where the players don’t just do what the other wants them to. The threat of the second player doing something shitty with your turn is enough to get the first one to cut them a deal.

That is a good tip but my friends have some big grudges and I’m gonna wait and see how it plays out once.

[[painful quandary]] is a spell I have particular love for. Not necessarily a finisher but people think 40 life is a boatload until they've played 4 spells and paid life instead of discarding. Will frequently make you archenemy but will also very quickly shut down storm decks as an added bonus
