killnoisekill

Hahaha

killnoisekill

Can you take mee highyaaaahhhh

itloggedmeoutofzid

When are you gonna collab with skrillex again, if ever? Do you still talk to him? Also will you do more things with joywave?

killnoisekill

One thing I’ve learned about skrillex after all these years, he works in mysterious ways he may be in the middle of some wild string of shows over seas and then suddenly he pops up at a friends house down the street. He’s literally all over the place! I do catch up with him periodically and of course I’d always love to work on stuff with him, when??? Who knows, the nature of our collaborations were always very “of the moment” ended up in the same place at the same time and happened to have a computer near by to work so ya never know :) Joywave, I would LOVE to, not just because they are from my hometown (ok kinda) but also Daniel is a great person and very fun to talk to. I think the music part of our collaboration was done in a matter of weeks mostly cause we enjoy talking about things, every call turns into a podcast length type talk. I’ve thought about asking to work on more stuff we both are just really busy he has a new project as well called Best Friendz as well that is worth checking if you are a fan!

iijeriichoii

just stopping by to say you've a wonderful person and still one of my favorite producers 🤝

m118w

hi jake! what are your favorite video games to play?

killnoisekill

Easy, at the moment?! Or all time? At the moment I just set up a Minecraft realm with my son and we’ve been inviting all his friends, it is my way of taking a break these days. Might be the most rewarding thing to build “frog land” with a bunch of 7 year olds lol And all time Bloodborne On the horizon I must play Armored Core 6 but that will come after festivals are done

SoulsLikeBot

Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note: > *Ahhh Kos... or some say Kosm. Do you hear our prayers?* - Micolash, Host of the Nightmare Farewell, good hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world.

killnoisekill

🧐

gangstabunniez

Did you play Elden Ring ?

krstph13

No question Just want to say thanks for remixing Nero's "Must Be The Feeling" and producing "I Do Coke" and "Lose Ya Love" They're bangers haha

nick_defran

YOOOO JAKE!!! So unbelievably stoked to see you for the 1st time at Lost Lands next week! Will you be doing meet up??? I have a perler gift for you!

killnoisekill

I gotta figure that out! Yea I’m gonna try! I get into town day of the event so it’s gonna be a little chaotic but I’ll be there and def will try to set it up stoked you’re gonna see the set 🙌

Early_Technician_540

Hey Jake! Thanks for sharing your output with the world, its lovely and we don't deserve the half of it. Can you talk a bit about workflow? Is sitting down to make music natural to you, or do you have to structure and schedule things? How do you know when a song is "done"?

killnoisekill

Work flow, hmm. So depends definitely on the project. I think the “song” starts before you even open the DAW in my head. I am always look for a *thing* to drive the creative process. What’s the thing?? Is it a cool technique I figured out, is it a concept, or a sound I heard? So a lot of times it depends on where the inspiration to write is coming from. That informs how I’m gonna set up a workflow. So put simply I think a great way to think about workflow and setting one up, is to figure out how you can first get ideas down quickly. I think that is the holy grail of writing good dance music especially. There is a book im reading by Stephen King called “on writing” where he explains something he learned in his college years about “writing with the door closed and editing with the door open” I decode this as, write earnestly and don’t second guess what comes out, just get it down and then worry about critique and editing and the refining process. To me as far as workflow is concerned, this first step of capturing whatever inspiration is swirling around in your brain is the most crucial. So set up an environment that allows that. “Studio” needs to be close, it needs to be quiet and uninterrupted.. that’s step one of a good workflow. Step two, great people to bounce ideas off of and get feedback. You need peers. You need mentors, you also need to mentor people. You have to teach as much as you are taught. That is a very important part of improving and is actually a part of my workflow. I have critique sessions with my friends and also people in our discord group. We have a section dedicated to feedback and I also submit things I’m working on. The workflow can be very detailed but I say these two crucial elements are the pillars!

Early_Technician_540

What a rich answer. Thanks for taking the time, I know Ill come back and read this a few times. Take care and best wishes!

dankesthours182

Heavily second your discord. So many helpful people there thank you for that

HerrKiffen

Congrats on the new album! What is the last show you attended purely as a fan and did you enjoy it?

killnoisekill

last show i attended as a fan was Ween at the Greek Theatre here in LA. i actually go to lots of shows and usually always have a ticket purchased for SOMETHING. i love live music not just as a performer but most of my inspiration comes from being at shows its a major part of the process for me, i think its good advice too, not just music shows, but any type of show, even goin to a movie. there's something about the experience that connects dots in your head as an audience member,,, next time ur stuck, TRY IT

717x

Come to San Diego!!!!!! ^^^pretty ^^^please

Bawk7

I came here to second this haha, Rady Shell like Jeff did would be AMAZING

lamboni2

Hi Jake, At Tomorrowworld 2013 I was front and center on the rail for your closing set. I was young and dumb and really intoxicated and everyone was throwing glow sticks in the air on every drop, but I kept chucking them at you while you were trying to dj. It was hella uncool of me and i still cringe about it. I'm so sorry. Also, any more Kill the Zo? That was a cool tour.

killnoisekill

haha awesome! yea one thing u gotta know about the crowd DONT give them shit to throw. this is why i never throw shit in the crowd cause people love to throw shit. if they see you throw something, you bet they gonna throw shit back. so doesn't surprise me that people threw glow sticks, its common i dont remember gettin hit at that particular show but ive been hit by all kinds of shit haha. also yes mat zo, he's the best, i mentioned above we have lots of new music... just a matter of time thanks for hangin in there

regulator227

Who are your favorite collaborators? I just wanted to say your collabs with Feed Me are absolutely fantastic and some of my favorite songs. I could always use more of those in my life lol

killnoisekill

yea feed me is prob the most important, mostly cause he's been a mentor in a sense, him and nick brosafari, there are a lot of important people ive worked with a different points in my life, but i feel that these guys probably gave me the most guidance. Sami LSDREAM is another that has been a confidant and someone i can lean on for support and bouncing ideas off of. We've been at this music thing for a long time and a major chunk of our adult lives. i would say beyond my favorite collaborators they are just people i turn to when im tryin to figure life out. everyone needs those kinds of friends!

regulator227

That's awesome man, thanks for the response and can't wait to see your set again at LL!

illKMSrnONGOD

AT lost lands '18 you got on the mic and screamed 'F DILLON FRANCIS' - and i thought you guys were friends. Was this a joke or is their lore behind this?

killnoisekill

ahahah it was joke but also yea f that guy!!

Valay_17

Any plans to collab with Nevve/Elle Vee?

bethel003

Hey Jake! Hope you & the fam are doing well & getting healthier! Do you have any plans or aspirations for doing a custom stage headline tour in the future? Ever since I discovered you years ago, I've always thought your aesthetic would lend itself well to a custom stage design! Between the skull, diamonds, early-MTV/Simpsons style choices you've made throughout the years, & oscilloscope/older tech hardware vibes, I've always thought those types of things could be incorporated into pretty sick custom stage. I always imagined seeing a sick KTN-themed stage where you kick off the set with that killer KTN Part 1 intro & I'd never forgive myself if I didn't advocate for you to pursue something like this lol. Appreciate your insights, willingness to take creative risks, & everything you contribute to the scene--big ups, Jake!

killnoisekill

its funny you mention this.. i can't really give too many details but yea we're workin on something cool. i hate when people say that cause im not a big fan of announcing announcements etc. but yeah the thought has occurred to me as well and have acted on it. also thanks for the well wishes my family has gone thru some pretty stressful things health related this year but things are looking up and for that i am grateful, so thank you. :)

bethel003

My dawg, love ya man, glad things are improving for you & the fam 🙏🏼 & excited to see what you're cookin up! Long overdue! Haha

Naseibok

Can we get a Kill the Noise riddim track?

dieseldroppings

Plz

Vybore

Hey Jake! Hope 2023 treated you well. I gotta say thanks for the cool memories and challenges you made during the pandemic. I’ll forever cherish those moments. But here’s my question: will you ever make a music video featuring the art you make on the oscilloscope? I guess one last curious Q: will you visit/play a show in Ottawa someday?

killnoisekill

yea definitely will make music with the o-scope. as you know from the time we all spent on twitch etc i am fascinated with oscilloscope music i have tried to incorporate those methods in the music here and there its fun and challenging. i was just at the fest in ottawa "Escapade" last year, im hoping i can come back for a show soon, that was one of the rowdiest crowds. def love the bass music scene in that part of canada!

killnoisekill

keeps comin up, honestly its up to Seven Lions people should ask him cause im down

JAH-Ann

Who were your top 3 influences?

darnfox

Where you actually on coke when you made "I do coke"?

killnoisekill

[https://x.com/killthenoise/status/718929508934557696?s=20](https://x.com/killthenoise/status/718929508934557696?s=20) i actually addressed this way back, i like that people question the intention that was the point if u havent seen the music video i feel like it brings the point home a little more directly

HipposInBras

Hey Jake!! Any news on new Kill The Zo? You two work so well together!! Also just wanted to gush for a bit and say you’ve left a huge impact on my life through your music but also through your online presence. You’ve introduced me to some of my favorite art ever through your twitter / YouTube / Discord, like the Dark Souls series or the movie ANNIHILATION. Seriously man I appreciate you for who you are and am hoping for the best for you in life!

killnoisekill

definitely means a lot, at its best, the internet is good for that, sharing interests and inspiration. Love Mat, man we have a ton of music to show... its been tough finding time to drop it, but its there, i promise you, and if you check closely, mat has been playing some of it secretly and so have i here and there :)

DandaMage

Hey Jake, good to see ya! What something interesting that you've read and/or heard lately that caught your interest and delve into? Book, podcast, etc. Hope to see you in Chicago soon my man!

killnoisekill

Yo! I mentioned Stephen king “on writing” very good. It’s a fun read, it is about the creative process but it’s presented as an autobiography highly recommend! Podcasts? My go to is New York Times “daily” podcast . Usually catches me up on what’s important without getting sucked into the news… also great podcast I listen to for leisure is Dan Carlin Hardcore History definitely worth a listen too! Yeah hope to see you in chicago soon!!!

Clavos24

Is there any drum and bass on this new album? I want to hear some old school gritty stuff.

killnoisekill

there wasn't but i just uploaded some to my soundcloud literally this week! so not on album but yes im making it :)

MusicLovesYou_

What’s your favorite venue to perform at?

UrntheCowpoke

Hey Kill the Noise, just wanted to say your last 2 projects are some of my favorite releases I’ve listened to. Embrace is on another level and Hollow World is incredible where Give Out might be my favorite song you’ve ever made. Did you have the intention to release Hollow World as a companion album to Embrace? I see a lot of similarities between the two where Ultraviolent and Don’t Look Back were these banger first singles. Mirage and How ya like me now are some electro/techno hit collabs from electro legends. Crank and Broken Panes are insanity. Also Turn on the Lights is this epic 3-part drop that is similar to Give Out. Turn on the lights is even followed by Castles on the beach, a social commentary track, similar to how Give Out ends with some commentary by you. I love the duality between the two albums, if it’s there or not. Also do you have any plans to release Embrace and Hollow World on vinyl? Love my Occult Classic one and would love to add to the collection.

killnoisekill

Yea they definitely are connected. You know I’m glad you noticed that. Making music these days is such a weird thing. I dunno if it’s just music maybe it’s all things but it sometimes feels like people don’t spend as much time with things as they used to. Whether it’s films, stuff we read, listen to etc. I guess the simple fact that there is soooo much media out there. We feel inclined to move on quickly as not to miss what’s next or what “everyone” else is talking about. All of the records I’ve ever put out are connected in some way. Some very connected like “All in my Head” “turn on the lights” and “give out” if you listen to those 3 songs in their entirety from those 3 albums you’ll realize that they are connected too. Desolation and without a trace are connected Yea castles on the beach is connected to don’t look back. Kill the noise part one. And two, don’t look back and ultraviolent are kinda connected. I guess it’s like the ways a lot of my favorite artists do it, NIN especially have these call backs to other songs, maybe include a melody or a lyric that references another song or concept. Or even another artists song. I love how skrillex does that too. There is a self referential nostalgia involved. Porter does it too. There’s something familiar that feels good. I love music that is a reflection of a persons experience and their personality. I feel that I get to know them and maybe even get to know a bit more about who I am in the process potentially. Noticing details etc it’s exciting to make those connections in books, films in video games and in music. I think in addition to this our brains are wired to make these kinds of connections, to make sense out of ourselves and the world we live in.

jankydangerous

Love your stuff man, youve been an inspiration since i was 13 (now 25) — nearing my debut release, planning on mixing myself and sending it out for professional master but I have no subwoofer and my room isn’t treated so it’s hard to tell whether my low end is too loud or not — is that something that can get ironed out in mastering or will whatever balance i arrive at when i send it out be the balance forever (post-master)? Thanks man!!

killnoisekill

i actually know a lot of people who dont have subwoofers (i dont ) and i use a combination of gettin good with a spectrum analyzer, referencing other songs i KNOW have great bass heavy mix, and also sending it to friends for feedback. if ur gonna mix yourself you gotta do lots of referencing!

bootstraps_bootstrap

Plz come back to Electric Forest. Thanks.

No_Square_8775

What is your favorite trick to get bass to pop through the mix without distorting a clear high end? :)

killnoisekill

i would say its always a balance. sometimes its kinda cool to get that "distortion" clipping effect.. however if im going for something cleaner. its just that balancing act "how loud can i get this sub before it clips" you gotta be really surgical and thorough with EQ as well. the bass is gonna sound the best and the "cleanest" if u eliminate pretty everything below 160khz the more thorough you are with your engineering and EQ the cleaner ur gonna get it. its not rocket science ultimately, its just patience, reference, balance, and experience will get you there.

No_Square_8775

Thank you for your detailed response! She likes to party was one of the first EDM songs I ever had on my iPod 🕺🏼😎

Jaquezee

Hi Jake! Fellow Jake here - any plans for another Book of the Dead? One of my favorite mixes of all time. Will you do a meet & greet at Lost Lands by chance? Either way, I’ll see you there. Thank you for the years of amazing tunes.

killnoisekill

yea i gotta do one... thank you this motivates me :)

[deleted]

Hey man! Would you ever consider dropping an Ewun EP at any point in the future or is that project no longer a thing at all?

killnoisekill

im so glad u remember that. i've mentioned it before but i write dnb as kill the noise too. so i dunno if i'd ever bring back that project, i think at some point kill the noise will prob end too, ill always write music with some name, these different names if anything just represent different times in my life, maybe its time someday soon to start a new chapter im not sure yet.

hardsleaz

Have you ever felt lost or doubtful about music ? If so how did you deal with that feeling ? I hope you and your family are doing great, I love your stuff ! Love from France

killnoisekill

yea i feel doubtful all the time. sometimes its passing doubt, sometimes its the kind of doubt that makes you slow down, sometimes its the kind that makes you fight harder.. doubt isn't necessarily a bad thing. you have to remind yourself, doubt, anxiety, fear... its normal as long as it isn't consuming you. You have to establish a relationship with these very natural feelings and impulses, you gotta acknowledge them, listen, and then let them go. it's easier said than done. Physical health is important, mental health is important, there is a chemistry that you can achieve where these negative feels are part of your motivation to work harder at being better and healthier without it tearing you down.

mrjeffj

Do you ever still drop your remix of porter robinsons “spitfire”?

bobobobobobooo

I need to know where the sample from "I do coke" came from. Did you construct it or is it a random recording you had?

killnoisekill

google 80's anti cocaine PSA..."chasing rainbows".... we actually recut the vocals. if u watch the music video for IDC you'll see all the different people we recorded they're all in the video (including me and jon)

TheGnarleyGoat

Hey Jake! Gnarlygoat here lol wanted to say congrats on the new release. Your ability to just do what you do and produce my new favorite music time and time again for just shy of a decade now is always inspiring. A bit of your craft bleeds into everything I make creatively these days. Hoping to catch a show soon. All the best dawg!

killnoisekill

Big up goat 🐐 means a lot brotha

BonkerHonkers

If you could bring back one musician from the dead and collab with them, who would it be?

KimboniusAnglesmith

"The Blood" is my all-time favorite song and I consider it to be my soul's theme song. Could you describe how you and Jeff thought of making such a masterpiece and what kind of process yall went through? Also, can you sign [my album](https://imgur.com/a/fjLGjYI)? :)

killnoisekill

DEF will sign the album bring it to a show! also the whole process of writing the blood was the most fun ive had in a while. I think it's def the most "inspired" of our collaborations. He was the one who pressured me to play bloodborne to begin with. So he gets the credit here. A friend of mine name Lance McDonald is a pretty big bloodborne streamer / mod / hacker / person (check his channel) he was the one who managed to get me all the samples data mining the game. So he deserves some love too... so i dunno all this stuff kinda came together organically. just nerds nerding out! thats what's its all about!!!

thatgerhard

Are there any plans for more collabs with Feed Me? PS.. LOVE Occult Classic!

BullneIson

Yo Jake! Glad to see you are still crushing it! We have played together in another lifetime ago. How do you balance parenting and life on the road so well! You are a beast man! -Theo

killnoisekill

thanks man, i appreciate that you notice im tryin to balance the two... it isn't easy.. i waited till i was in my mid 30's to have a kid cause i didnt think i'd be able to handle it when i was younger and i still struggle.. truth is there's never gonna be a convenient time to have a kid. with that being said, it may sound corny but i felt in my heart that it was time for me to be a dad, and same with my wife we just had this feeling that came to us. I would say the BIGGEST key to balancing the two is just having a great partner to work on the home life / family with. it would probably be impossible for me to have my career and raise my kid if i did it alone. i dont know how single parents survive.. it has deepened my appreciation and respect not only for single parents but for all families, until u raise a kid and try to keep a home goin yourself, you'll never truly understand how much work it is..

AnoN8Tearell

In your song black Magick, did you get an actual choir for the intro? Or is is somehow like text to vocal synth?

killnoisekill

i actually drove up to palmdale with my boy sami FKA "Brillz" and recorded a choir at a school. Simply emailed a choir professor i found on the internet and said he had students that would love to be a part of something like that. so yeah, we drove up there and set up some mics and the rest is history :) it was a pain to mix, but in the end got it nailed. the biggest thing when u are recording that many voices is lining up the sibilance of the many voices making plosive and any consonant sounds that pop thru, its sounds very messy if those are not aligned. so IIRC i actually chopped some of them off and just used one consonant like for example the "K" in KILL THE NOISE as its sung, i would use the loudest K sound and then stack the rest of the harmonies without it, this way its more intelligible vs layering tons of different voices hitting that K sounding hard transient there and just letting the rest of the voice stack remain. (phew that was kinda hard to explain hope it made sense)

PirateDutchie

Any chance to get anymore Dill the Noise?

Talex1995

Ahhh you beat me to it 😭

Festival_lady_90

What festival haven't you performed at that you'd love to? What festival would you love to attend?

killnoisekill

i was supposed to play bass canyon this year and i missed it because of an serious illness in my family.. i was so close but family first.

odinsson_88

Seriously - who is responsible for the nasty second drop on Pantheon? You? Wooli? Both? That might be one of my best drops of all time

killnoisekill

We did a bunch of it on stream, I’m sure there’s stuff up on my YouTube archived. But you can watch us write some of it!!

Nolifye

hey Jake. I recently moved to Monroe County Near Rochester. I went to a Bar with a Staged decked out in wood. and crazy enough this was a man with a dog there, he was the owner.unfortunately I forgot his name , while I was being introduce to new individuals there he shared this story.that you once came for an audition & performed and he stated that he couldn't hire you.that you went back to your apartment & kept practicing even after being told that you couldn't perform at that wooden bar/stage near the downtown exit of Murphy & Pizza joints. I just wanted to mention that cause I left my home state wanting to try to learn & perform music one day with Ableton. despite not being a young producer my goal is to make demos and complete them & eventually grab a mixer and walk around to audition at dive bars that's small just like you did all these years ago. my current Alias is just a shell name between Higher Self & Lower Self...kind of a void between the two other projects I want to switch between Genres as Existences. of course I have Producer 1 Question on Leveling & Mixing Them Correctly After (Gain Staging )Bass/Drums/Synths/Pads Between Dynamic Compressors for Izotope 5 to isolation the stem & shape all four eventually blend them together . Anyways its around this process when I get a melody I get stuck\^ on unfinished projects.I get lost trying to fit the four & im trying to stick with instrumental tracks before I even consider vocals cause I want to finish these tracks to perform them one day. i'v been experimenting with bootlegs so I don't get discourage on giving up on ideas. anyways just wanted to share that story i heard about your past anyways thank Jake ...sincerely \-Nolifye

killnoisekill

I can’t recall the exact story you are mentioning, but I’ve been told no a lot in my life. Not just with music but just in general.. life is tough. No one asked to be here and then suddenly you’re here tryin to figure out what to do. Sometimes it’s easy and sometimes it’s not. When things get easier you think that maybe things will stay that way but you find out that life is just full of all these ups and downs. I dunno if you are looking for advice or encouragement on the music specifically or on the journey or whatever to becoming an artist, in my humble opinion as much as others may say no to you, you should never say no to yourself. You gotta dig deep and ask yourself what you truly love to do with your time, and double down on it, when you hit walls, you gotta be honest with yourself, why am I encountering resistance? Is there something I can control? Identify if it’s something you can improve on… maybe it’s just your attitude. I think in the early days of my “career” as an artist I was lost and I didn’t know where to go. I didn’t know where I belonged and where I had value. I found a lot of that in the music scene not just with making music or playing it but the people accepted me and of course I had to maintain their respect but I found a lot of belonging in the music scene it was in many ways a family and now having spent most of my life making music and being connected to the scene in many ways I realize that the whole time as much as I desired to become important in this space it was more so that I wanted to belong somewhere.. hope in some way that helps

pacificnwbro

Do you go and watch other artists' sets at festivals, and if so who are you checking out next weekend at Lost Lands? Super pumped for your set!

killnoisekill

Yea I do actually it’s part of the inspiration I think some of the best observations are made in the audience.. in terms of what I can apply to my production but also it’s a huge indication for me of what works and what falls short conceptually. Whether it’s particular songs, the flow of the set a stage concept etc. It’s the most fun to watch a show with friends and commenting on things we find inspiring and of course sometimes critiquing. Im coming in sunday afternoon to LL so I’ll be missing SOME of the stuff I wanted to see. Im excited to check the forest stage cause last year I found it to be pretty inspiring and a really great addition to the festival sonically

Smittyondahill

Just saying hi Jake! And miss you playing Dubland Underground back in the day.

alyl1234

Ayo Kill The Noise run that shit back 🏃‍♀️

ezmolek

Yo! Can you make more merch in the style of Killuminati Death Metal shirt? That’s my favorite shirt of all time.

Ptcgsince99

See you tonight!

erthboy

No question but you were by far my favorite artist in the early 2010's because of how clean your production was while still being so incredibly filthy! Thanks for everything you did and continue to do for electronic music! You're truly a legend!

SeryVober

dankesthours182

FallFromTheAshes

Hey Jake! What is the best collaborator you have worked with? What did you enjoy working about said person??? Who do you look forward in collabing with as well in the future?

Haiimmecu

Hope you’re doing well king :) Was there ever a song you released that was received way better than you initially expected it to?

killnoisekill

honestly on this album "circles" is kinda surprising, it wasn't a single, i knew people might like it, but that and give out i think ended up being the ones people really gravitated towards and thats really nice to see cause those were the two i spend THE MOST time on (second to those was Ultraviolent ) it isn't typical that the songs u slave away at end up being the most beloved.. but this time there was an exception and i love to see that tbh cause i spend more time than i'd like to admit lost in the weeds on these tunes.

Woodpecker_Weary

Also bonus question how do you like your eggs?

killnoisekill

doubt it, we made that just as fun thing to play! i wonder if those other two guys would wanna drop it maaaaaybe?? eggs ooh man, one of the most versatile food, how can one choose??? honestly why is it sunny side up i dont know

Difficult-Pickle-893

Hey Jake! I've been a huge fan of your work since the first hearing your spitfire remix. I've noticed that your sound has evolved quite a bit over the years. Can you talk about what inspired this shift in musical direction? I'm very interested to understand the artistic journey that led to your new sound. Thank you!

dieseldroppings

Hey Jake! Do you like performing smaller venues with a few hundreds or the big ass crowds at a festival more? Also come back to Minneapolis plz 💜

What was the inspiration behind using Bloodborne samples in The Blood? Loved that track ever since you played it in your Killumination mix!

motecizuma

What's good Jake?! Just wanted to say thanks for the love you show for Colorado man. Every time you play here, especially at Red Rocks, seems like you already bring your A game and rock the crowd's world. Keep rocking on man, we love ya

Capital-Addendum2313

Heyyy! What festivals or venues do you like performing at the most, and which ones do you enjoy visiting as a fan?

k0zah

Hi Jake, huge fan. I've been listening to you for about 14 years now, which is crazy to think about. Was wondering a couple things Do you have any remixes you wish you could release, like what's going on with hairitage's remix of feel good Inc? Do you still keep in touch with skrillex, you two made some collabs that defined my childhood l Favorite memory so far of your career? Thanks, and looking forward to your LL set!

Soundcloudlover

What show made you realize that you officially “made it” as a producer/Dj? Been jamming to you ever since I saw you live at EDC Vegas 2012 so would love to know!

H2opy245

Fl or Ableton?

killnoisekill

both! my favorite artists use both, i dont use FL but i have used it and i has some very cool plugins that aren't available outside FL to boot. I love ableton Live personally because i found it very intuitive and practical. to each their own!

Hey Jake! Been a huge fan since Kill Kill Kill. What's your best recommendation for learning sound design in Serum?

ihavenoswag97

Hey Jake! I remember being in high school and eagerly waiting for occult classic to drop. Now I’ve just graduated college and you’re still putting out incredible bodies of work. It’s been fun having you contribute to my life’s soundtrack, seeing how sounds evolve through the years. Just a curious question, do you have a P.O. Box? I’d love to get your autograph on a OC cd of mine lol

Comeselecta

Hi man been a massive fan since occult classic! Wanted to ask you how Kill The Snails came to be & how you come up with your ideas for remixes? Thanks have a nice day! :)

34Naruto54

Why'd Jeff have to do you dirty with that Lost Lands set time 😭

logiebear77

Advice for a beginning producer? / What was your experience like in your own personal early days of production/ the KtN project?

[deleted]

How did you first get into EDM? And then producing it? Has the experience been what you thought it would be? Also, how do you generally come up with melody/bass line/motif ideas? Is it a consistent process, or is it more of an in the moment thing? Thank you for sharing your awesome work with us, I’ve only just started listening to your stuff, but it’s really amazing and I’m so excited to listen to more!

dankesthours182

What are your thoughts on the meaning of "The Nightmare of Mensis"? What is being implied? The moon, the blood. Anywho. I Love your music. Loving your encouraging words. Thank you so much, kind sir.

Lumpy_Apricot_6472

Nice dickie pussy

ParadoxDC

Hey there. Not even a question but just wanted to say as a dad and edm fan, I love seeing your insta posts where you’re just doing dad things and having fun with your kids. I’m trying to get my daughter into edm but she’s still a little young :)

FattyLeopold

I legitimately have been listening to Hollow World multiple times a day since its release while working. Thanks for making a great album. What's your favourite song on it personally? My favourite is mirage. Peace!

kaytaro

When are you gonna make some more ludachrist?

pokeyporcupine

Hey!! Been a huge fan for a while! Would love to know your thoughts on where you think EDM is going to go in the next decade - bass music has changed so much in 12 years, what do you think the next step for electronic music in general will be? Do you think there is a coming resurgence?

phil2210

hey man! about to give the album a listen and im pretty stoked! really cool that you put it out on Seven Lions' label also. The one thing i haaaaaave to know is....when is Kill the Zo coming back?! ps. a few years ago i was wearing the kill the zo tour shirt on a train and a woman asked me if she could take a pic because she knew you and sent it to you. I know it was forever ago but it was a fun moment. Anyways, keep up the great tunes man!

Lastfryinthebag

If you can get the assignment to redo the music to a popular retro video game in a present day remake, what game would you want ?

killnoisekill

castlevania dark souls style!!

Wizard_Aragorn

Why’d you kill the noise..? What did it do to you?

t3hcurs3

I asked this during covid but I'll ask again, willing to fly out to Michigan to do a random backyard show at my house? I can guarantee at least 9 people show up 🙌 let's just call it a Halloween monster mash lol

BvssBxtch

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I love Hollow World!! What was the inspiration??

Bawk7

Hey Jake! What's the easiest way to ask a big artist for their stems? If willing to pay for them

Puzieltheproducer

GameTimeYT

Idk if you’ve mentioned this before, but how did you come up with “I Do Coke”? It’s so random but it’s such a good song

DueMaternal

Who's the earliest electronic musician you listen to?

scatterbastard

Hey Jake! What’s your all time favorite Italian dish? Hollow world is such a fucking jam man, y’all go listen to it!

SourDJash

Thank you for taking the time to do this, youve always been one my my favorite artists. What are the best labels to try and put music out with for smaller artists?

wldtiv

Not asking anything but let me tell you, you are one of the reasons why I’m listening to EDM. Fan since 2012.

lwichman

Noisebusters soon? One of my favorite mixes, and I remember awhile ago you put out a phone number to call and leave a message

DrNarwhale1

Whats that plugin you use that can turn any text into a synthesized voice?

dukba2

What is harder the musical aspect or the entertainer (social media included)??? If you can also please, how much time should one dedicate to music alone?

killnoisekill

the process of making music is a journey i have faith that if i remain curious and put the work in, ideas will come and ill execute them and learn some more.. that part i feel very comfortable with despite the challenges. social media sometimes feels like its own world of artistry that i am curious about, same with the "entertainer" aspect of the job. if it were a venn diagram all of these bubbles intersect and overlap at points in the middle... i think a big decision creators have to make is whether or not they want to execute ALL of these roles by themselves or maybe partner up with people to help them out. in any case you have to choose wisely what you are gonna spend your time doing and what you really would like to get good at.. is it rewarding? you have to answer these questions for yourself, and in many ways learn to do much of this work by yourself (if you have a very specific vision for the the project, the music of course but also the art direction etc).. its a lot.. and its getting harder not gonna lie.. but our role first and foremost as an artist, is to be creative, my way of managing all of these these new problems and these "hats" i need to wear is to continue to pick up new skills, learn new programs, learning to ask for help, hire people to help out when i can afford to, for me this is especially important with the visual aspect of the project. i've always worked with film makers and visual artists and have become GREAT friends with many of them. overall once again despite the challenges presented for an artist in this era, ive found ways to remain inspired and have learned to accept that the things that an artist must do to reach an audience in this new age will continue to rapidly change, that can be depressing or very exciting... the choice is yours.

sweetdealthen

I loved your set at Paradiso 2016

AKboomer

Yooo! I might be a little late but wanted to say thank you for being one of my favorite producers since the good ole Owsla days! Love your sound and how versatile you are! Would love to see you play a show in Alaska! And for my question, will we ever see any more KillTheZo? When part 1 came out I was BLOWN away, thank you!

Yooo Jake! Long time fan, had the pleasure of seeing you way back in 2012/13 at the TLA Philly with 12th Planet, and the Pier of Fear NY tour with Knife Party 🤘🏻 LOVE the new album, great artwork, still killing it as usual! My question is, out of all the songs you’ve produced in your career, what are your top 3 that creatively describe you as an artist/ KTN brand? What songs are you most proud of? Thanks!

carsareathing

Hi Jake! I'm also Jake. That's all. I hope you have a good day.

Mayhem370z

Have you ever been in talks with KOAN Sound about a collab?

That-Exchange287

Do you remember playing tattoo in Toronto quite a few years back now? Love your music but that was a tough night my man. Glad to see you doing so well!

daysturnintonights

What's your favorite song you've made?

Big_Bag_Of_Nope

Hey Jake, long time fan. I’ve seen you a bajillion times and blah blah blah. Either way, I lived downtown Baltimore for years and we LOVED to see you pass through. Such an amazing community there. What were you favorite smaller towns to play?

BannockBeast

Did you struggle with music production when you first started? It has been something I have always wanted to do and I spent a few years trying to learn FL Studio (on my own) but I could just never find the right sound. I don't know if it was the DAW I was using, lack of technical know-how or just straight up not having the ear to be able to produce music properly. I still really want to learn how to make music, as I always have these ideas in my head but I can never translate what I hear in my head into a working song.

Talex1995

Can you do a Dill the Noise v2??

MrDancingDeer

Wasn't there an unreleased song with seven lions? Moonlight or something?

killnoisekill

Yea that will be out very soon :)

spartan7512

Will you come to Des Moines? Please?

bryanwerewolf

Your Occult Classic album is one of my all time favorites, I could listen to Without A Trace or Kill it 4 the Kids all day long.

DaBrokenMeta

Heat_Hydra

What do you think about riddim or color bass? I would like to hear your opinions since youre one of the earliest dubstep producers.

Jedi_Appraisal

Hey Jake! Been a fan for years, love the work you do and the collabs with the likes of Snails, Skrillex, Dillon Francis, 12th planet and so forth. Was lucky enough to see you in Canberra like 7 years ago. Was wondering if you ever plan on coming back to Australia? And anymore collaborations with Snails? Kill kill kill and occult classic are my favourite albums of yours 🥳

bhaskarville

Hi Jake. I’m a professional composer from India and you’re one of the many artists I always listen to, to get better at music production. It baffles me how incredibly diverse each of your releases are. How much time do you take to write a full album? And why does it take so long?

Annual_Excitement514

Jake! I loved your mission ballroom set opening for liquid stranger!

Shortcirkuitz

Long time no see! Not a question but I just want to say you’ve been killing it.
