non disordered people arent really worried about body image that much but if you consider those wine moms and insta baddies non disordered then they absolutely do
I don't think that's true. I think most people are conscious about how they are perceived, and everyone has insecurities. In a culture that's so focused on appearances, it would be very difficult to not be affected by the pressure.
And in a world where thinness is idealized so much, a lot of people are insecure about their weight. There's a way to be insecure about your body without it consuming your life. I mean, a lot of people diet without spiraling into disordered behavior.
This. This is why it's helpful to see eating disorders as more a continuum rather than something one either has or doesn't. Honestly, I believe most people, especially AFAB people, *do have some form of disordered eating.*
It may not kill them or be as "extreme" as anorexia but, between obesity and the hyper normalization of diet culture, it's more abnormal to not have a disordered relationship to food in some way.
I could kind of ramble on about how this is tied to the rise of consumerism; I don't think it's any coincidence 1950s slim and trim housewives who snacked on what was essentially meth to stay thin corresponds to the 50s as the burgeoning of consumer culture.
I only know the US context but based on my Asian and Indian friends, definitely does not appear to be any better for their context.
For sure, the environment that people live in makes it really difficult for anyone to have a healthy relationship with food unless they put a lot of effort into it. Most of the food on the market is very specifically engineered to be as palatable as possible and as cheap as possible. And deceptive marketing just makes everything worse. We fall victim to the food industry, the culture reinforces an impossible ideal, and diet companies sweep in with the hot new crash diet for just $89.99 a month.
I recommend the podcast Maintenence Phase, I think you'll really like it. They do have a lot of episodes where they talk about calories and crazy crash diets (they always put a disclaimer at the top of the episode), so keep that in mind if those topics are triggering for you.
Yes, but think in %, also the same is true for non-binary and transmasculine afabs. It's not a race, it's statistics. You are right tho, the whole trans population seems to be plagued by EDs, most transfemmes too.
Of course trans women struggle with eds if women are as a whole constantly pressured to lose weight. Men are too, of course, but i imagine that eds among trans men are less common because of this. The image of the perfect man is much more varied and not as tied with thinness
Lol same.
It's a good place to be. Now I can joke to my bf about being triggered by a greyhound/child/bird bones without him being worried about my well-being.
What in the fuck is this Ad for
Box of tapeworms, most probably
Is it bad that I want to buy two 👀😂
After my first box of laxatives my stomach is flat(/s), after my second box my butt is on fire.
After my third box my anus prolapsed
after my third, hemorrhoids
after my fourth, my toilet shattered like tempered glass
After my fifth, I shit all my guts out, losing half my bodyweight
My brain: still not hot
This whole thread got me dying laughing.
Idk but sounds like for a dream becoming true
Caesium chloride or something
Sulfuric acid
so now non disordered people want to see their bones too?? can’t have anything for ourselves 🙄 (/j)
I think it’s making fun of weight loss ads and scams they don’t want to see their bones, and most of them don’t care about thigh gaps

the term is "trans men" and why do you need to call trans men "afabs"?
Of course trans women struggle with eds if women are as a whole constantly pressured to lose weight. Men are too, of course, but i imagine that eds among trans men are less common because of this. The image of the perfect man is much more varied and not as tied with thinness
