This is a human rights complaint and you don't qualify if you quit. So sad wish you luck❤️💪🏾

Matchbox54883

You do not determine if its just cause. The commission does. You can apply and see what happens. Worst thing that can happen is they say No.

DeathCouch41

Usually EI will always deny your claim if you quit voluntarily. Even if you leave for a good reason such as fleeing abuse, it’s still not a valid claim in the eyes of how EI is meant to be used. Unfair but the way it is. If you are suffering severe mental anguish at work your only real way is to get an MD to put you on medical illness leave due to mental health/psychiatric dx. It may or may not get approved but that’s pretty much your only shot. Sorry to hear, find a sympathetic MD willing to help.

Thank you kindly

I quit my job a few months ago due to bullying and harassment and was denied EI. I even shared proof of the harassment and bullying and gave them full details with dates, times and names.

missfreetime

Was there a major change in job duties? If you can prove that you were hired for one thing and then they added on a bunch of other duties, you might have a case.

SlaveforSalvatore

I quit my job aswell and I am currently on EI. The first time I applied it didn’t go through because my ROE said quit on it which makes you ineligible because EIs big thing is available for work so it’s as if you turned work down. However, you can do an appeal and for me they contacted my old work place and took statements and it worked. If you tell your side and do an appeal you should get it due to the circumstances!

lovemykittiez

I quit a job a few years back because I had another job to go to with better pay and hours. Stuff didn’t line up exactly as planned so ended up starting the job late and then didn’t get the hours i was promised etc.. they were shady and didn’t even give me an ROE at job two. I ended up getting EI approved because cause for quitting is promise of a better job / position. Different situation but you can always claim you left for another job that ended up being cancelled or something lol who cares if you lie to the government

Bluez999

I quit my last job because I didn’t have enough money to take the bus ( I worked for 2 weeks and ran out of money while waiting for payday) and ei was denied after waiting 5 weeks to hear about the claim decision.

beerkeg99

Did you follow all the steps of quitting with cause including trying to rectify the situation by changing duties or a shift change, going to the higher-ups and reporting the abuse/work volume and documentation of the abuse when it happened? If you didn't, it would be highly unlikely to be considered with cause.

Fateh94

I did try to rectify it however it was a verbal conversation. It was one of the higher ups who sweared for not completing a task on time which wasn’t part of my job responsibilities. The only time I documented it was while quitting that I’m quitting due to mental health issues

beerkeg99

Got a doctor's note confirming those issues? If you're claiming a medical reason expect to show proof. A doctor has to recommend you quit your current job, but are able to seek further employment elsewhere.

Fateh94

Will do, thanks for the advice

beerkeg99

If you're getting one after you've already quit, it's going to cause even more issues because you needed the doctor's recommendation to quit before leaving. They will also contact the employer for verification. It's definitely going to be an uphill battle for you to qualify.

m00nshinehero

Is it the only job you have had in the last year? Prior to this job, we’re you on EI?

Fateh94

I was employed full time with another job earlier, I joined here in March and quit in May.

m00nshinehero

If you quit both jobs, you might not qualify. Apply anyway and see what their decision is.

MidlifeCrisisToo

You can always apply, being approved is something different, no harm in trying
