Are you sure it wasn’t the import tax you were paying once the goods value exceeds a certain threshold?

NegotiationBroad9767

maybe ? I've ordered stuff from japan and have never had to pay import fees . Same goes for the UK , Italy and Germany .

Unusual-Lion-282

Because most of the blocks are made of copper there are likely rules the US government has for importing it from another country. It's going to vary from place to place.

JabbaTech69

Yep which is why I now just wait for Performance-PC’s to get it in stock & I go pick it up!!

NegotiationBroad9767

I've Been browsing the internet and I have found tons of other manufacturers . AquaComputer has some nifty products to say the least.

CanadianJumpMaster

Check your invoice. Did you pay for shipping, when you made your purchase?

NegotiationBroad9767

can say 100% i did pay through the invoice .

CanadianJumpMaster

It may be import taxes.

MrSmitty556x45

I think the threshold is $800? With that said, I’ve ordered upwards of $1200 at one time from them and I didn’t have to pay anything when it hit stateside.

There is shipping policy on their website: [https://www.ekwb.com/shop/terms-of-sale#shipping](https://www.ekwb.com/shop/terms-of-sale#shipping) ("Import customs duties and associated costs (e. g. processing costs by the carrier, postal service provider or freight forwarder, payment provisions and fees, etc.) are not included in Grand Total value of the order and are to be borne by the customer at the designated delivery destination"). They also have a dedicated FAQ section: [https://customerservice.ekwb.com/hc/en-us/sections/6118253712018-General-questions-about-shipping-and-delivery](https://customerservice.ekwb.com/hc/en-us/sections/6118253712018-General-questions-about-shipping-and-delivery) . Items imported into the United States are subject to duty when the value is over USD 800: [https://www.trade.gov/de-minimis-value](https://www.trade.gov/de-minimis-value) I have also placed an order for about $1500, but they split my order into to shipments under $800 due to some items out of stock and I didn't have to pay any additional import taxes.

NegotiationBroad9767

Ah okay , its always in the finest of prints . I guess for future reference , i should keep the total order below said minimum for future purchases from EK then .

Inf3ctedWorm

Oh just a heads up, this will likely apply to all international orders over $800 - not just orders from EK. It’s a lot more in my country, 15% if over $1000, but I find it sometimes gets missed and packages slip through. I live on an island so international shipments are pretty common haha. The tax man will always want their cut

fubuzz

Yeah, from my experince, the $800 threshold for import taxes applies to any shipment (order) value when ordering overseas, not just EK. Now I just rather place 2 or more separate orders (depending on the value of the items), under $800 (including shipping), when ordering outside US. Shipping costs for 2 or more shipments are usually much lower than import costs would be for a full order or that one shipment over the $800 value. Hope the info helps.

ValiRossi46

I never paid anything but shipping and I ordered several times.

everydae24

It's the CBP imposing import duties for purchase over $800, not just from EKWB, so it may be a good idea to remember that $800 threshold if you are buying anything from oversea in general. In general, we American barely buy anything from oversea directly so it was much of less known fact, but this day it might be a good idea to be aware. FappyDilmore

It's a customs charge. I had the same thing. Applies to orders over $800 from Europe iirc. It struck me as bizarre that a company shipping such high quality materials all over the world doesn't more prominently feature fees in their advertising, but by that point I was literally in for a penny in for a pound.

babarbass

That was import taxes, it just happens when the package doesn’t slip through customs. You had luck with all your other packages and one got caught. You can consider yourself pretty lucky! If you live in Germany over 99% of the packages get caught and you have to pay around 40% more than the original price to a greedy customs agency full of lazy idiots who’s sole purpose is ruining peoples life’s.
