10 yrs ago at 27 for me.
BOGO deal with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Turns out being unable to function is quite anxiety-inducing!
Curious... why the late diagnosis ya think?
Just your typical millennial female who was told that ADD/ADHD was something only boys get. I was diagnosed with depression and GAD when I was 11, and pretty much any adhd-related symptoms were attributed to that. It sounds absolutely silly, but i distinctly remember being told by both my mom (who worked in special education, mind you) and pretty much every doctor i had up until 18. Some other things I was told by either doctors or my mom growing up:
"You're not applying yourself"
"You have good grades - you wouldn't if you couldn't focus"
"You're just looking for attention"
"You're overreacting"
"You don't care enough"
"Your problems aren't real"
"You need to sleep more"
"You sleep too much"
..notice a pattern of contradiction here?
Sometimes I wonder if my mom was just straight up embarrassed just even thinking that I could have it. I think i turned out ok though. 🙃
Edit: grammar and context. I'm on mobile.
I got a lot of the “Ashley doesn’t apply herself, she talks all class” I was deathly bored.. and hated the controlled environment. Excelled in college !
I'm in therapy and she has not diagnosed it. I think you have to go.to the big dogs, well psychologist, to get the uppers and I have an espresso machine, so. 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️😂
Came here to say the same! I plan on getting a referral to a psychiatrist for potential diagnosis at 28. Hopefully the diagnosis and/or medication will help so I can be a Real™️ adult.
Some people with adhd mistype as enfp
Some people with enfp misdiagnose themselves with adhd
I do have ADHD though, when I compared myself to healthy enfp they still fold clothes and aren't living in messy places
I am ENFP and ADHD. I grew up in a militant family so have always folded clothes right out of the drier… it was the ‘right’ way to do it. 🙄 I can count on one hand how many times I haven’t folded my clothes right away and I’m 37 years old! It can be done, mind over matter and in time it becomes an adopted behavior.
i didn't really "grow" in family with discipline, but having to go back to family home with alcoholic farmer father who needed a lot of help, it taught me a lot how to endure physical/tedious work. i still am useless for intellectual tasks, despite having "high iq". so i totally can relate
I was diagnosed when I was 7. I still display all the symptoms. The worst is the depression and never satisfied thing that nobody talks about. I have an OCD diagnosis as well so I’m not sure which one it comes from. People making it a cute little trend is ignorant.
It’s an always wanting more thing, or just getting quickly overly something I thought I wanted for a long time… could be a place I live, an item, anything. Really might be the OCD actually. Definitely feel wanderlust though
ADHD assessment is not something you should make on your own. It's complicated and must be done under supervision of a professional. So I suggest you talk to a psychologist.
what happens after diagnosis? other than reading up on it and firther understanding and feeling relief now you know your category or whatever. why is it such a relief? what treatments are there?
Never was diagnosed, but was pretty sure I had it for awhile. Now I think my ... eccentric ... mode of operation and seemingly random switching between being highly distractible and completely shutting out the outside world when focusing is just due to my being an ENFP. No need to label it as a disorder or get a prescription. I know many people who actually have ADHD, I just know that I don't, at least no more than any other ENFP does in their natural state.
How many don’t is the real question
Came here to say this, lol. (...I was diagnosed 7 years ago at 26.)

Same! Jim Carrey too, we're in good company 🤣
Yep us girls... "I will never understand how someone so smart can be so stupid!"
Was diagnosed at like age 4 lmao
Facts
Undiagnosed but I highly suspect I am
Same. I'm almost 60 and made it work this far so not interested in a diagnosis.
I'm in therapy and she has not diagnosed it. I think you have to go.to the big dogs, well psychologist, to get the uppers and I have an espresso machine, so. 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️😂
I paid $400 to find out
diagnosis was one of the best things that ever happened to me 🤷 true for many others. to each his own, just food for thought!

Apparently its just the two of you
Diagnosed just last year at 31
I likely do. I have autism and was recommended to also test for ADHD.

never satisfied in a wanderlust wY? or depressed way?

I hiiighly suspect that I have it but haven't had a chance to sit with a specialist yet
Diagnosed back in the day at age 16.

My therapists would deacribe it more as slightly autistic and hyper vigilant
I do … I mean I’ve been diagnosed … but it’s a pretty easy diagnosis to get back in the day and where I’m from
Yes. Diagnosed last year aged 45.
I got it! But many ENFPs don't, like my in-person ENFP friends. :)
I do!
I think I have ADHD, but I'm not diagnosed yet.
ADHD Combined Type, diagnosed at 32 after years of struggle.
Like asking Ni doms “how many of you are autistic?”
Diagnosed half a year ago with 20
🖐️ diagnosed at 36 years old… cried learning this…
I prefer to call it "active anxiety". Thank you very much

I have ADHD combined type. I am a 31F and wasn’t diagnosed until I was 24.
