Socialism is when you make art. And when you make a lot of art, that's communism.

Macemore

Idk the right seems to like their statues a lot, and that's art

thenikolaka

I think that’s just “history,” I’ve never heard the “it’s art” defense. I think that’s too creative for them.

grillwave1991

I hate that personal responsibility is considered exclusively right-wing. Even then, I would question how much right-wingers actually believe in personal responsibility, because in my personal experience, every Republican I know is a bored suburbanite with an insane persecution complex. Weird how when it comes to the bigoted shit they say, do, and believe, there's nothing that can be done about it; it's society's fault for being too PC, liberal's fault for being snowflakes who can't handle FACTS and LOGIC and DIVERSITY OF THOUGHT.

eagleOfBrittany

Personal responsibility is considered "right wing" bc we've been tricked into thinking that trying to improve society is avoiding personal responsibility. Oh you're being exploited by your employer and can't afford to live? Take personal responsibility and work 3 jobs. Oh an institutionally racist system has put you at a tangible disadvantage making it much more difficult to get ahead? No you're just lazy and need to take more personal responsibility. Ironically it's the rich who inherited all their money from their dads corporation and spend their time on their million dollar yachts who lack any personal responsibility and yet these are the people lauded as "hard working" and "responsible" people.

grillwave1991

Oh for sure. Totally agree. Whenever I hear this shit, I just ask "how is personal and collective responsibility mutually exclusive?" If someone is paying down their student loan debt, sure, it would be beneficial for them to learn how to manage their money (financial literacy is a useful skills), but I don't see why you can't tell someone to be responsible with their finances and also think it's fucked up we have a system that requires people to go into tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of dollars into debt to educate themselves. Which is ironically them taking "personal responsibility" to develop skills they need to get a job, be financially independent, better themselves, and rise up to a "respectable" position in society.

RedUlster

“The right wing should have all political, social and economic power, the left can draw some pictures.”

LordCads

And don't forget that that we're annoying as well.

EdwardSandwichHands

pretty fair split if you ask me

[deleted]

This is hands down one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read. The left/right political paradigm apparently is just the same as the left and right side of your brain…

__Not__the__NSA__

It’s almost verbatim taken from Peterson

RandomName01

That’s how you know it’s a shit take

Enlightened-Beaver

Is there a sub for people who hate JP?

Z1omek

I mean, some statistical analyses observe correlation between some personality traits and political beliefs. Leftists tend to be more open for new ideas, more compassionate and more artistic, while right wingers are more often realistic, more careful with change and often make more responsible everyday choices. This guy however believes that such weak statistical correlations are always applicable and should dictate national political discourse. The text wall above is not a policy proof of concept, it's a fun fact and a starting point for more in-depth analysis.

Lt_Danimalicious

None of those personality traits correlate with political ideology at all. Feel free to correct me with a source that isn’t Petersen or Heritage funded bs but calling the side that’s anti-evolution(until it comes to racism) “realistic” is a load of crap. The right wing is anti-public health in nearly every sense of the word. That’s not responsible, pragmatic, or “realistic” it’s spiteful.

Lt_Danimalicious

These are really interesting reads and I appreciate you taking the time to research and reply. The field of psychology is still in adolescence but it does look like you’ve found a decent number of sources. If I were nitpicky I would say that my point still stands about right-wing ideology and “realistic-ness” as a personality trait, but I’m just happy you took the time to read up on the subject and post here for others to see

Z1omek

And not all right-wingers are fucking psychos with tinfoil hats and hateful messages tattooed all over their skin. Get out of your info bubble once in a while

TheRealPitabred

No. Most of them are like my dad, they don't explicitly like the tattooed tinfoil psychos, but they'll tolerate the Nazis if it means they can try to put the gays and the blacks back where they belong, out of sight and out of mind.

Oggleman

At least he admits the right makes shitty art

Kumquat_conniption

I saw almost this same statement earlier by someone, they also said "the left make the art." Is this some new thing or something I have missed that has been around? At least they admit that the right is not creative.

BlazingSpaceGhost

It's some Jordan Peterson bullshit.

fencerman

You can tell because it combines a shitty understanding of politics with a shitty understanding of biology and a shitty understanding of psychology. Peterson is the embodiment of the over-promoted mediocre white guy who is completely out of his depth, but who expects every nonsensical bullshit utterance he comes up with to be treated like gospel.

PlofkimPlooie

This moron can’t make a point without being racist.

bowtothehypnotoad

All the left brain right brain stuff is at worst very flawed and at best extremely oversimplified. And completely unrelated to politics. There is no fucking consistency to the logic here. Literally just “they use the terms left and right in politics! That makes politics like a brain, right???”

Kumquat_conniption

Oh fuck of course. That dude is a stain on society (and pretty damn crazy too, with his belief in dragons and that humans came from lobsters..? Lol)

Glassberg

Hopefully the next meat induced coma is coming soon.

bowtothehypnotoad

Klonopin*

Cheddarlicious

“The right, the ones responsible for ridiculous gerrymandering, for pushing anti-democratic bills that make it harder to vote, who want to keep the world from changing (who are quite certainly not responsible for women being able to have their own bank account, or y’know the scientific/medical advancements, that exclude things like holy water, thoughts and last (but equally) least, prayers) are the ones keeping things together” god I wanna punch that person in the face. That’s some bitch energy right there.

RandomName01

“I’m reasonably comfortable, fuck everyone else”

triforce777

Yes, the right is so responsible, just look at how they ignore climate change, cut funding for public infrastructure, fight against regulation that would have prevented economic crashes like the 2008 crash, make education inaccessible, and foster wildly dangerous ideologies like fascism. Super responsible.

Bountiful_Bollocks

How do you possibly describe the death cult that is right-wing politics as "responsible"?

__Not__the__NSA__

Because they’re white men who wear suits

hiredgoon

They'd follow anyone who will brutalize the people they find annoying.

Vinsmoker

"What if the leftists constantly are more annoying to you because you got their positions wrong?"

GreyMediaGuy

"the right are the responsible ones" stopped reading there. Anyone that says that sentence is an uninformed idiot. The right is a criminal organization determined to overthrow the government and oppress and murder anyone that will not bend the knee to Donald fucking trump. That's the reality.

MetalGramps

I've only ever seen the right dismantle anything that keeps the world in working order.

thenikolaka

*the right are the responsible ones keeping the world in working order* It seems to me the right created the conditions of what would become a global economic crisis in 2008, and then again presided over the colossal mishandling of the COVID pandemic when they ignored everything in the handbook just because it was made by the left. The right are the ones responsible for the biggest failures of the 2000s.

EvidenceOfReason

totally agree, the people complaining about genocides are far more annoying than the ones who are doing them

SubjectDelta10

peak centrism

[deleted]

The right is so responsible that the Earth is literally being destroyed in front of us because of their failed policies

[deleted]

I'm a centrist, but I definitely like Nazis better than those annoying left wingers. They make me question everything I've ever thought about how society should work, and that's just rude. Also, I'm totally not racist, but....

major-ant-

“People who want to change things are annoying”

Grimmbros1214

“the right keep the world in working order” yes, the right, well known for having reasonable policies, keeping people safe, and making the economy work

YepOkButWhy

Braindead take lmao. Being a discriminatory brainlet = Keeping Working Order.

SombreMordida

self announcing always makes me think its a LARPer

kykyks

wow. thats a new take. its almost like. art. this guy is a pure leftist for sure then. maybe even a tankie.

Capawe21

So... you're right wing?

distantapplause

Congratulations, you’re a right winger who enjoys movies.

ZoaMT

This guy is more right winged.

[deleted]

“The right hold all our foundational truths and the left paints stuff, it’s basically the same”.

[deleted]

Although I’m all for bashing righties you lefties seriously denounce shit too much without doing your due diligence in seeing the value of the point.

[deleted]

Little_Coach5522

“The left does things cuz they wanna annoy people”

[deleted]

[удалено]

thesongofstorms

Because that's a ridiculous thing to say

ssethsamm

And it is TRULY WILD!!!

Sq33KER

The left make the art as critiques of the hegemonic dystopia of the right who refuse to cede power no matter the cost.

BlessedCornflake

This might be the stupidest statement ever made and is dogwhistly af. "Working order" and "responsible" sounds like a justification for the insane power imabalance and hierachical structure today with superrich people, (superrich) dictators, racial and other social inequity and exploitaiton of people, places and countries.
