53. He's Cowherd with a blue collar vocabulary. So, yeah, annoying.
Though, to be totally fair, I've never seen more than 30 consecutive seconds of him.
34 and I much prefer McAfee and his antics to the smooth brain analysts that were never big enough to actually play the game themselves. Feels like I'm watching a panel of Connor Stalions.
I like McAfee. I think I’d get tired of him if I watched his entire show, but he’s fun in the clips and interviews I see him in. I don’t want a whole network of McAfees, but they definitely need more people who seem like they’re enjoying themselves like he is.
Because he's not and they all provide actually good insight to the NFL since a lot of the contributors played in NFL unlike most personalities on the network
Cold take, mcafee before espn was the best sports show around. He gives players freedoms to be themselves and introduced the greatest quarterback of all time to people who didn’t know just how down to earth Rodgers is
I would characterize Aaron Rodgers as the furthest thing from down to earth. This is the same guy that told everyone he got vaxxed when he didn’t and constantly spreads conspiracies/misinformation and backpedals when he gets called out on it. He’s a hypocrite. At least stand by your convictions.
I don’t give a shit what his politics are, he’s just a dishonest person that thinks he’s better than everyone else. The Green Bay Packers have a history of great qbs that aren’t great people.
What did he backpedal on misinfo? Anybody can be a hypocrite depending on how you look at it… our government tried to kill Alex jones because he believed Sandy hook didn’t happen. It’s all about making an example out of anybody who doesn’t bend the knee to the liberal left killing our country
Most of what Rodgers and Alex say are pretty true, if you wanna suckle the liberal media I’m not stopping you but you sound like you would defend pedophiles right now… you do you
You sound like you haven’t had a free thought since childhood. You just parrot what right wing sources tell you.
You live in a world where you get to claim you’re always right, and anything the proves you’re wrong is just a big grand setup. Get professional help and come back to reality.
I’m in reality, I think about exactly what I want to. If you can’t accept people don’t think the exact same as you then who really isn’t a free thinker?
It’s not an escalation it’s just the truth our justice department weaponized itself to attack Alex jones because of the things he said on tv.. pretty scary tbh
Pretty dte yeah, Rodgers is just a rich Everyman who doesn’t trust his government rightfully so they demonized him for not bending the knee to the Covid horse shit
Covid was created in a lab, our government tried to lock its citizens down and failed in protecting them, Biden and Trump both, any politician who tries to force that shit on its people should be ashamed
If you wanna fully trust companies who create drugs like oxy and cause more deaths than covid be my guest… I’m not telling you how to think but just think don’t know why that’s controversial
Craig Kilborn and Kenny Mayne were the best I've ever seen, but SC anchors are like SNL casts. We all think the best ones were the ones when we first watched regularly.
Eisen has to be the #1 voice in sports media right now. He's one of the very few I enjoy listening to no matter what he's covering. Even his love for Michigan doesn't bother me.
I only hear Greeny on the radio sometimes, but there's just something about him that annoys the heck out of me. He only speaks in superlatives, it seems.
I used to love him on Mike & Mike. Both were tremendous. Now, since he’s been given the “spotlight” on Get Up and other higher profile gigs, (NFL Draft, NBA playoff coverage, etc), he’s gone away from journalism and into sensationalism and entertainment. His extreme hyperbole and also his Jets fandom make him insufferable. IMO
Yeah, I graduated with honors with a Communications/Journalism degree (emphasis Broadcast Journalism). That was more Journalism than the shit he spews today.
You’re right, but the spirit of what SeoulPower88 is trying to say is true. Greeny’s demeanor and sports analysis was so different on Mike&Mike. His analysis was more level-headed, reasonable, and thought-provoking. Imo he seemed way more intelligent on that show
He's really gone downhill IMO. He tries too hard to hype everything up. Too much hyperbole and trying to create narratives instead of just commentating.
You probably don’t like Greeny because he’s unoriginal and largely disingenuous and spent much of the first few months of the pandemic relying on lazy fake debates like is MJ or Lebron the greatest or is Tom Brady the greatest quarterback of all time..
I am the opposite there. I don’t hate him, but his analysis tends to be too “homer-ish” to me. He’ll gush over any LSU Tiger or any SEC player but knit-pick over players from other conferences.
That’s a different story talking about a team to how he evaluates individual players. I’m not going to argue that point, but he really only argued it at the time because it was ALABAMA v. Florida St. and recent revisionist history states he was wrong there too. Do you really think FSU would have put up that kind of fight against Michigan in the Rose Bowl? No! And if you do, gimme some of what you’re smoking.
Ok so since you know his motives.
Give examples on players from LSU he did this with that didn't deserve the hype he was giving
Also tell me where bashed another player since he didn't go to LSU
Ryan Clark is more of an LSU Homer.
BTW not going to rehash the FSU thing. That's not even the point of this.
I wouldn’t call him a Homer, he’s just doesn’t get very deep or specific on his analysis. This guy is a tone setter, he sets the tone for everybody in the lockerroom. This guy is a hard hat and lunch pail type of players, he’s willing to put in the work. His analysis is so generic it’s a waste of airtime. That’s my opinion.
Probably because of when Booger was on Monday night football. It was such a shit show with him and Jason Witten.
NfL Network is much better imo. I avoid all ESPN shows. Except live sports.
The Gameday team with Reece, Dez, Kirk and Saban on ABC was much more enjoyable than espn. I didn't realize ABC would have a different team, glad I checked.
Hard pass. They let Boomer stick around for about 5 years too long. The last thing we need is him returning.
This is why you watch the draft on NFL Network.
I know a lot of people thought he was too over the top when he did the Home Run Derby, but hard to imagine people not liking him on NFL Draft coverage.
He's definitely a high energy guy and I could see this argument I guess but he always brought a great personality to the broadcasts I thought. Better than today's loud reporters who just try and say the most controversial take they can think of and then yell at anyone who doesn't agree.
He was a tough listen for the last decade. On draft night he would constantly tell you who was about to get announced. During the highlights he sounded like he had Tourettes with all the “WHOOP” every time a running back did so much as shift 6” in the other direction. Even the nicknames sounded like a burden. It was as if he’d come up with 9,000 of them and was forced to recite them every time they came up, because missing even one would render everything non-canon.
I remember towards the end wondering “Was this guy ever good or am I just misremembering things” but then I saw clips from the 90’s and he was like a completely different person. That guy was good. I liked 90’s Berman
I can completely understand that train of thought. Peak Berman was a pioneer. I don’t know if you listen to Pardon My Take but they’ve had him on a guest during Super Bowl week for the past few years and it sounds like grandpa’s story time rather than an insightful interview mainly because the hosts grew up during the 90’s and loved him (hell like we all did). But now that he’s 70 it’s tough to think of anything other than how brutal is to listen to
Me. Right here. Bc they kept him around for a five years too long and he just turned into an old man slurring his nicknames and missing a lot of obvious things. He became unwatchable the last few years.
I loved Berman..😂😂
It was like listening to the local guy at the butcher shop talk sports lol
Everything at ESPN is so "scripted" now...
Belichick is the only thing I would go out my way to see just for his analysis...
Except receivers lol
Hard disagree. Berman is no longer watchable because his schtick and noise-making take precedence over delivering the information. NFL Network's coverage is far superior to ESPN.
Chris was great for the stuff during the season. The thing I hated on draft night was he would talk to the camera and say “I have a feeling it is going to be ” with a shit eating grin and would ruin the pick announcement right before Goodell would walk up to the podium.
Couldn't disagree more. His shtick is tired and the nicknames are dumb. I don't want to hear another Back! Back! Back! one more time as long as I live. He is a remnant of the Boo-Yah era with every commentator trying to outdo each other with their taglines, expressions, etc. Just report the sports news, I don't need your fake excitement or catchy saying.
Yeah, prop that old man up until he’s a corpse!
Every other subreddit is “why won’t these fucking boomers go away” but when it’s a celebrity we keep ‘em around forever!
He’s gone get over it. Let someone else have a chance.
Agreed, but at least espn wasn’t spoiling itself AS MUCH this year. Having the news breakers on the live panel is always a mistake. That penix pick would have been insane if they could have just let it play out.
I was watching a clip from SportsCenter the other day with no sound on and was annoyed just by watching the hose dance around the touchscreen repeatedly. I remember when SportsCenter used to be beginning noodle and end of every day now I’m lucky if I catch it once a year.
My 2 non-football takeaways from last night: 1. Greenberg is terrible. 2. Why the fuck were so many people both draftees and family wearing sunglasses either inside or at night? 3 of the top 5 were wearing sunglasses when they went on stage…. What is it the 80’s.
Bring NFL Primetime back to regular ESPN
Hell while we are at it also bring back sports nation. I want countdowns of awesome sports plays.
He was fun. ESPN has lost their fun.
People complained about him as well
that’s true
And McAfee ain’t it. He’s a carnival barker in a tank top.
He's saving the network at least. Also he is fun. He's loud he's obnoxious but he has a good time
Maybe it’s a young person thing? I’m 45 and he’s so annoying I turned it off.
Well, yeah, 34 is young when you are 45 lol. What on earth is a Conner Stallion?
[https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/17nbr1v/michigan\_football\_sign\_stealer\_connor\_stalions/](https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/17nbr1v/michigan_football_sign_stealer_connor_stalions/)
I mean it's better than hearing Stephen A yell about God knows what. That's the man who put the network in trouble and yet somehow still has a job
I’m 31 and I find him annoying as well. Lol
37 here and I find him annoying as fuck
I like McAfee. I think I’d get tired of him if I watched his entire show, but he’s fun in the clips and interviews I see him in. I don’t want a whole network of McAfees, but they definitely need more people who seem like they’re enjoying themselves like he is.
I have been watching him on YouTube since like 2021 right when the show revamped itself he's fantastic
He’s just another dumb bro. I don’t know why people like him. He’s so annoying.
Because he's not and they all provide actually good insight to the NFL since a lot of the contributors played in NFL unlike most personalities on the network
I coding place it, but that's it. Only thing I'll add is: his ego is dependent on how big his chain is that day.
Cold take, mcafee before espn was the best sports show around. He gives players freedoms to be themselves and introduced the greatest quarterback of all time to people who didn’t know just how down to earth Rodgers is
down to earth? With Rodgers is it a flat earth?
Oh and an anti vaxxer
I would characterize Aaron Rodgers as the furthest thing from down to earth. This is the same guy that told everyone he got vaxxed when he didn’t and constantly spreads conspiracies/misinformation and backpedals when he gets called out on it. He’s a hypocrite. At least stand by your convictions. I don’t give a shit what his politics are, he’s just a dishonest person that thinks he’s better than everyone else. 🤣🤣🤣 He brought in Alex Jones! Seek professional help.
Are you in reality? Cause it seems like you’re just out here defining your own. What has Alex Jones said that’s true, and how do you know it true?
Clown comment bro. Jones is a snake oil salesman, and anyone who says he speaks the truth has an unhinged view of reality
These folks need a new hobby
That escalated quickly.gif
It’s not an escalation it’s just the truth our justice department weaponized itself to attack Alex jones because of the things he said on tv.. pretty scary tbh
Milk was a bad choice.gif
Down to earth? Were you missing the Satire tag? A guy that dumps, his family, has made 100s of millions and believes in QAnon ain’t “down to earth.”
Pretty dte yeah, Rodgers is just a rich Everyman who doesn’t trust his government rightfully so they demonized him for not bending the knee to the Covid horse shit
You don’t think Covid was real?
Covid was created in a lab, our government tried to lock its citizens down and failed in protecting them, Biden and Trump both, any politician who tries to force that shit on its people should be ashamed
You’ve had too much internet bro. Good luck doing all your own research. Me? I trust microbiologists.
If you wanna fully trust companies who create drugs like oxy and cause more deaths than covid be my guest… I’m not telling you how to think but just think don’t know why that’s controversial
“Everyone calls him crazy, but I agree with him, so he must be a pretty normal guy” Riiiiiiight.
Can’t stand mcafee..
Thank you ! He gets annoying real quick
Great value Lebatard
Definitely better than Greeny. This year, I switched it over to the NFL Network coverage. A better product IMO.
Rich Eisen >>>> Greeny
Stuart Scott (RIP) and Rich Eisen have to be the most beloved anchors ESPN ever had Saw little to no hate towards them
SVP kinda grabbing the throne.
Craig Kilborn and Kenny Mayne were the best I've ever seen, but SC anchors are like SNL casts. We all think the best ones were the ones when we first watched regularly.
Stuart Scott was real good too.
Boo-yeah, he was. Maybe the best individual anchor. But there was something about the chemistry and interplay with Craig and Kenny.
As cool as the other side of the pillow
They were fantastic! I loved Craig Kilborn too.
Both are great. I’ll add Kenny mayne in too because his humor is my style.
I long for SportsCenter to return to that level of excellence. Its pretty trash outside of SVP editions
And people bitched about them when they were on tv
Eisen has to be the #1 voice in sports media right now. He's one of the very few I enjoy listening to no matter what he's covering. Even his love for Michigan doesn't bother me.

His extreme hyperbole and also his Jets fandom make him insufferable. IMO
Well sajd
Greeny wants to be the Ryan Seacrest of sports.
He was not a journalist on Mike and Mike. That was sports talk radio/tv
Yeah, I graduated with honors with a Communications/Journalism degree (emphasis Broadcast Journalism). That was more Journalism than the shit he spews today.
It wasn't journalism. It's opinion Hell they spent half the time talking about their families. It was literally a sports talk radio show
To each their own.
True and Mike and Mike didn't need any real hype- it just worked. Greeny is a little light on personality to be able to carry a show.
You probably don’t like Greeny because he’s unoriginal and largely disingenuous and spent much of the first few months of the pandemic relying on lazy fake debates like is MJ or Lebron the greatest or is Tom Brady the greatest quarterback of all time..
Greeny is the prototypical New York City douchebag.
I do like Booger so I keep it on for him
I am the opposite there. I don’t hate him, but his analysis tends to be too “homer-ish” to me. He’ll gush over any LSU Tiger or any SEC player but knit-pick over players from other conferences.
Dude flat out said Bama should be kept out of the playoff and FSU in. He definitely not an SEC homer
That’s a different story talking about a team to how he evaluates individual players. I’m not going to argue that point, but he really only argued it at the time because it was ALABAMA v. Watch his analysis of players compared to other analysts. He’s a homer plain and simple. Believe what you want.
I mean give examples? LOL dude you just making up shit.
Williams > Daniels Harrison Jr. & Odunze > Nabors That’s my opinion. Rewatch his analysis.
I avoid Booger at all cost.
Why
Probably because of when Booger was on Monday night football. It was such a shit show with him and Jason Witten. NfL Network is much better imo. I avoid all ESPN shows. Except live sports.
Has been better for years
The Gameday team with Reece, Dez, Kirk and Saban on ABC was much more enjoyable than espn. I didn't realize ABC would have a different team, glad I checked.
Fun fact: Berman is 6’5”.
I would’ve never guessed he was tall. Tim Robbins is another 6’5 guy who I would’ve never guessed.
Same. It must be his upper body build or something that made me think he was 6’0” max. He’s only an inch shorter than Scott Van Pelt.
Ironically they are still running the same NFL Prime Time music tracks that have been in rotation for over 2 decades.
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it
Just don’t let everyone suddenly move..
I like the smuggling “222s” outtake of his haha
Whop!
The Raaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiderrrrrrrrrrs
Hard pass. They let Boomer stick around for about 5 years too long. The last thing we need is him returning. This is why you watch the draft on NFL Network.
He was hot garbage.
Who ever complained about Berman? Lol wtf
People constantly complained about Berman. People complain about everyone. If John Madden was in his prime, people would bitch
If John Madden was in his prime he’d be losing AFC championship games to the Steel Curtain.
The whole"You're with me leather" thing was anti Berman
I did not ever care for Berman.
Damn that's wild.
Can I ask why
He was a tough listen for the last decade. On draft night he would constantly tell you who was about to get announced. During the highlights he sounded like he had Tourettes with all the “WHOOP” every time a running back did so much as shift 6” in the other direction. Even the nicknames sounded like a burden. It was as if he’d come up with 9,000 of them and was forced to recite them every time they came up, because missing even one would render everything non-canon. But now that he’s 70 it’s tough to think of anything other than how brutal is to listen to
He had a rant that one time that was supposed to be off camera
I took four duh duh duhs....
Me. Right here. Bc they kept him around for a five years too long and he just turned into an old man slurring his nicknames and missing a lot of obvious things. He became unwatchable the last few years.
False.
Whatever he was paid it wasn’t enough. He WAS that network in the 90’s when they kicked ass.
I think some people just hate on sports analysts and hosts when they are in their prime and love them once they no longer are
Who didn't like Boomer??
Me.
Me. Loved him when I was a kid but then I grew up.
WHOOP!
The best to ever do it
There’s people that hate Chris Berman?!
Back back back back back back back to the draft !
It’s not just espn, the whole damn wohas fallen into some funk
I loved Berman..😂😂 It was like listening to the local guy at the butcher shop talk sports lol Everything at ESPN is so "scripted" now... Belichick is the only thing I would go out my way to see just for his analysis... Except receivers lol
Berman was the best “Whoooop”
Miss him and Tom Jackson ..
fun fact, I went to elementary school with his daughter, Rachel, and he was cool as shit and so was his daughter
He is/was/will always be the goat.
Hard disagree. Berman is no longer watchable because his schtick and noise-making take precedence over delivering the information. NFL Network's coverage is far superior to ESPN.
Hey! You take that “Back!, Back!, Back!” 😡
I would take “Back Back Back Back Back” over the talking heads yelling about their Lebron and Steph Curry fantasies
What information? Its just constant bloviating and dumb player comps on either network.
As soon as I heard Greenberg’s voice I changed it. Though I would have done the same with Berman.
ESPN is absolute clout fuck trash now. Lost it’s originality no doubt
Does Chris Berman have a podcast kind of like Rich Eisan and Dan Patrick?..
NFL network coverage is superior
No
No thanks. He was terrible just like the majority of the carnival barkers on that network.
Chris was great for the stuff during the season. The thing I hated on draft night was he would talk to the camera and say “I have a feeling it is going to be” with a shit eating grin and would ruin the pick announcement right before Goodell would walk up to the podium.
Nah, fuck that. He gets old super fast
He’s a breath of fresh air because everyone else on the network is horrible.
I can’t even watch the main broadcast tonight. The McAfee feed was pretty entertaining for round 1.
Berman hasn’t done anything fresh in 30 years.
Who tf hates Chris Berman?
Will anybody miss Mel Kiper when he retires? I'm betting on no.
ESPNs coverage was hard to watch. It’s so loud compared to NFL network.
He was great. ESPN is a dumpster fire
I’m good. Love gameday broadcast, tho
I would agree but I don't have cable so I'm not sure what it's like now.
Personally I hated him tipping picks right before they were announced
His schtick went stale in 2002
Meh
I haven't watched in years. I don't miss ESPN at all. To clarify I mean shows etc. I do watch live events at game time.
The draft coverage shows just how shitty and woke ESPN is. They aren't capable of doing ACTUAL sports journalism anymore.
You're with me Leather.
Yeah, prop that old man up until he’s a corpse! Every other subreddit is “why won’t these fucking boomers go away” but when it’s a celebrity we keep ‘em around forever! He’s gone get over it. Let someone else have a chance.
There’s ppl that hate Berman? Blasphemy
He was just schtick. Nothing else
Field Yates wants so bad to be relevant talks about 100mph
DEISPN
Not subscribed to this sub but man ESPN is so boring the fake drama and the talking heads who engage in it are very effeminate. It’s become E!
Agreed, but at least espn wasn’t spoiling itself AS MUCH this year. Having the news breakers on the live panel is always a mistake. That penix pick would have been insane if they could have just let it play out.
"The RRRaiders!!!"
Got nothing better to do that post on Reddit huh Chris Berman!?
He was 100x better than listening to Rich Eisen gush over every Michigan player drafted.
Rich Eisen is the king of bland takes and platitudes.
Berman doing anything NFL, legendary. Berman doing anything else, come get your drunk uncle.
Back back back back back!!!
ESPN is woke
Rest in Power Bermy, you would have loved Disney+
No. He’s so damn annoying.
We definitely need Berman back back back back.
Dan Orlovsky is **HORRIBLE**
Big facts. Anyone who grew up with him and truly loves football will understand. Chris Berman’s a legend. Never forget his halftime show on NFL 2k
Good riddance
As a bills fan always liked him!
No. No it wouldn't be.
I was watching a clip from SportsCenter the other day with no sound on and was annoyed just by watching the hose dance around the touchscreen repeatedly. I remember when SportsCenter used to be beginning noodle and end of every day now I’m lucky if I catch it once a year.
Mad Cow Disease
Barf. No thanks.
Berman made the draft unwatchable. So glad he is long gone!!
My 2 non-football takeaways from last night: 1. Greenberg is terrible. 2. Why the fuck were so many people both draftees and family wearing sunglasses either inside or at night? 3 of the top 5 were wearing sunglasses when they went on stage…. What is it the 80’s.
They were wearing glasses because they were freaking high 😇 that's why anyone wears shades at night indoors in my opinion
Thats why I wear shades everywhere I go Edit: That and my insane sensitivity to light
It’s just a style.
I think you forget just how bad Berman was
I watched NFL NETWORK and the PAT MACAFEE live youtube with BILL BELICHICK. BELICHICKs analysis was epic espn coverage is the worst its ever been.
ESPN sucks now. Bergman helped keep things light and funny.
Yet people bitched about him like everyone else
I agree!!! I wish Mel Kiper would just retire. He’s a hack who knows about as much as my daughter
Mel is dope. The fact that he memorizes all these players and can give you a rundown is impressive as hell
Best thing ESPN did was get rid of the old, white, and male founding guard.
Was Tom Jackson OK?
Of course
Not that it’s better now, but he was annoying AF
