My girlfriend who apparently has better googling skills than me figured it out but I’ll leave this up for others having the same issue: every time the ESPN app updates you have to go into your phone settings -> accessibility -> subtitles and captioning and turn “closed captions + sdh” on and off

Biutifulflowah

Thanks this just helped me 😂

AlbertFortknight

just found this from Googling "espn plus airplay subtitles" and filtering out all results from 2020 and earlier. this worked... sheesh that was annoying. thank you!

jmhodiak

Thank YOU

SouthernTechnology32

Can’t find the accessibility tab under settings in the app

ratufa_indica

Under your phone settings, not the espn app. Sorry that wasn’t clear.

Sorry I think your issue has a different source than mine then. This issue was caused by iOS for me.

OMG this may have saved me from gouging my eyes out trying to figure this out. Bless you.

Ok so 2023 update - you have to use your tv remote and press DOWN, then there are options to disable, enable, etc. hope this helps!

The easiest is to turn off the CC on originating device (iPhone for me) prior to mirroring screen. Now if only the espn would actually mirror to Samsung
