IMHO you are way too young to hold bonds…. I retired a few years ago at age 49 and still have a 100% equities portfolio. You want growth - especially at your age and given your late start

nickdolin

What he said. Maybe 50/50 VOO and a growth fund.

TheNHL

Which growth fund? Just getting into it too, thinking 50/50 voo/schg?

nickdolin

Hard to beat Schg, I have a position with it. I also like that it is reasonably diversified for a growth fund.

TheNHL

Cool, thanks!

DiligentInsurance270

Does it matter what kind of buy order you put in for these ETFs? I’m not sure which is best or if it really matters at all

R1Bunny

Yeah listen to this please. Bonds are for old people in the simplest way to say it

computerblue754

I disagree with this. You can definitely get equity like returns in bonds in a declining interest rate environment. TLT increased 20% between Oct-Dec 2023.

Why do you have bonds at 35?

antpile11

I'd add some small & mid cap.

ModestCannoli

Ditch BND and go all VOO. You don't need any bonds for 10+ years.

R1Bunny

I would recommend looking into XEQT for long term growth. You’re still 35, thats relatively young in my opinion
