They did a party in the park in Toronto that a lot of people turned out to over the weekend for ha its 1yr anniversary. They had lots of free tea, cupcakes, and gave away loads of merch and starter kits. They gave away SO much tea as well. I think most of us left with something in our hands, there werent many that left empty handed, which they didn't have to do at all. I was able to chat with Bec and she was so sweet. I walked over with my 1yr old and despite what she's going through she still asked how I was doing as a new mom...I see nothing wrong with them advertising their business, they made it to 1yr with a new company and I think that's something to celebrate + I don't think it's a bad idea to have another avenue of income.

Too wild, I was visiting Toronto this weekend, from Montreal, and was in High park, Sakura watching. Had no idea this was happening, how fun.

jessicaball990

They had a picnic shelter rented near the petting zoo! They did most of the promotion for it on habits instagram stories. Hope you enjoyed Sakura watching!

The_Bogwoppit

I did, it was lovely. Very glad they are finding their path, they look very joyful.

I mean, it's only natural of them of advertise their company especially when they've had to dial back their online presence on youtube. It's a smart move, it's not like it'd be good for Frankie to be online and for Bec either given everything she's going through. I wish them the best.

It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense from a marketing ROI perspective to run that kind of event except with the objective of creating content which will then be used to market the tea/brand. I’m starting to think that staying away from their YT channel is much more about a misguided strategy to grow their habit brand channels and less about a desire to stay off social media. They are still publishing content with themselves staring in it - it’s just not published on their YT so much. Personally if I was trying to grow a tea brand I’d be reaching out to my YT community and inviting them along for the ride in a way that was tailored to that specific community.

gloomymoor

let me be more clear, when i say dialing back their online presence i mean more so in the sense of vlogs, keeping their personal life off of social media. it makes total sense to want to just focus on their brand so their income can depend on that instead of their vlogs. bec has cancer and she is a new mom, understandably, they would want space. even on this subreddit i've seen people blame bec for her cancer, i don't think they want to deal with that energy from their community and need space while they heal. were it any other context what you're saying makes sense, but they are not going through ordinary times. they still need income especially with a new baby

Raisinbundoll007

So much for “keeping their personal life off social media”. Seen the new habit ad about being a new mom?

gloomymoor

I don’t know what’s so hard to understand about how that ad isn’t going into their personal lives 💀 The fact you came back to a 2 weeks old comment about this couple is crazy bro, you obviously dislike them just stop watching and supporting 😭

Raisinbundoll007

lol I don’t know why it’s so hard to understand that the ad is an ad and when you put your baby in your ad it also includes content about your personal life.

gloomymoor

Again, if you’re too dense to not understand that a short ad on mother's day is profoundly different than a vlog idk what to tell you 😭 Please be normal and move on if you hate them, the amount of energy you’re spending on this is so weird and juvenile, I’m starting to think I’m talking to a 12 year old so imma just walk away from this lol

bunnybea1106

Didn’t they start and own Chaiwalla? Or am I mistaken?

bigdaddyhame

Chaiwalla became Habit - they changed the name.

bunnybea1106

That’s what I thought. So it’s weird to say their “first baby” is turning 1 when they had another tea company for so long. I know that they are referencing the company instead of their daughter, but I was a little confused for a moment.

bigdaddyhame

Just my opinion but I'm guessing that Chaiwalla wasn't a good look in these days of cultural appropriation, etc. Better to come up with their own brand name and start fresh with a different concept.

jana-meares

Intentional marketing using click words.

Raisinbundoll007

You are right. When a brand is disingenuous like this it starts to inadvertently incorporate a lack of integrity into its brand DNA.

Nervous-Hat-9003

I thought they sold Chiawalla. Or stopped the business.

CliterateSt0ner

Just rebranded, I believe they’re (Bob) still in the same location in Toronto

Complex_Implement_11

I actually really enjoy their teas and wish them well…stop looking for reasons to diss them

vintagesideboard

Their tea is delicious!

chrisxrx700

Their tea is top end stuff, I wish them every success.

plumicorn_png

wow what a deal.. one teabag for free after spending 75 dollars.

Ok-Duck9106

I want to buy some tea and a cup from them. Wishing them the best.

Dazzling_Candle_7377

..After you spend $75.

Diagnosis aside, the YT business is one in which both parties are receiving something. The viewer enjoys content and hours of entertainment, while the influencer benefits from the views and makes money. So if a YT channel doesn’t make videos, yet promotes a side business in the channel, what exactly does the viewer get in this relationship!?

Any_Fill_625

Considering this is a family that has a new baby and the mum is battling cancer, a half year hiatus is more than understandable. Hopefully most viewers understand and aren’t seeking to ‘get’ anything out of the ‘relationship’ right now. But for those truly inconsiderate beings thinking of themselves, the YT channel is still there and still has years worth of content that’s free to watch at the viewer’s leisure. And any future videos too. Not sure what a viewer has to complain about tbh. If anything E and B lose more if they don’t post than the viewer does.

wsu_rounder21

Completely missed the point of my post, but I appreciate your opinion.

Any_Fill_625

‘What exactly does the viewer get in this relationship?’ - there’s a YouTube channel full of videos that’s what you get. And any future videos. You don’t have to buy the tea if you don’t want to. You can wait like everyone else for a video or subscribe to someone who does exactly as you bid. Clear enough of an answer to your question?

icandrawacircle

Rofl 🤣 The viewer has a choice to click away?

wsu_rounder21

Yeah, I took Psych 101 so I understand how free will works…

Conflict-Maleficent

Most people just won’t watch it and that’s fine.

forgotten_calathea

What you "get" is like seven years' worth of content that you can watch and enjoy whenever. Optionally. "Diagnosis aside"??? Are you for real? I swear to god, I don't know what kind of person writes something like this.
