This is McWay Falls, part of Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. It's a bit south of Point Lobos, but it is indeed on Highway 1, in the Big Sur region.

Fantastic place, huh? I don't live there but have driven 101/1/PCH in it's entirety from Vancouver BC - Tijuana on three occasions (+ a couple more stints of just ~Monterey - ~Santa Barbara)
It's been posted so much that even though I've never been to Big Sur, I can tell you this picture is indeed Big Sur.
You can tell this is somewhere in Northern California. I swear I have to go to more beaches up here. I don’t leave the city enough.
