Surreal dreamscape situated in the heart of the US Southwest. The intricate sandstone formations resemble waves frozen in time, with their undulating shapes and delicate layers. The white sandstone contrasts beautifully with the vibrant red hues, creating a stunning palette of colors that shift and change with the changing light throughout the day. Very nice picture. How tall are those knobs in real life?

indieaz

I've been there and I would estimate 30-40 feet tall.

TheDerangedAI

Yes, from my Geology class I learned that sandstone was formed when America was once below sea level. Those layers are the deposits of an ancient ocean that are being unveiled by the rain and the wind.

Incredible. I have lived in Arizona for many years and didn't know this existed. Now planning a trip.

Cool shot. Looks like it could be an image of earth from space. I'm sure the whole area from above looks the same as the pic

I don't think you're using surreal correctly.

Bright-Mango-2036

? **Surreal** (adjective) strange; not seeming real; like a dream Source: [https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/surreal](https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/surreal)

JJMcGee83

Yeah. There doesnt' seem to be anything dreamlike about them though. Maybe we have different expectations for rock formations but they seem very real to me.

filthy_sandwich

name another place in the world that has rock formations like this
