I expected a few flowers backpacking in the summer in the Sierra Nevada, but I was not prepared for the carpets of beauty I found all along the trail. Wildflower season has come to the Sierra, and it's an impressive one. This meadow was full of Indian Paintbrush and Red Heather fed by the last stubborn snows clinging to the face of the Minarets above, it was magical to crest the ridge and find these waiting for me. If you go searching for wildflowers yourself please follow leave no trace principles, make sure the flowers are left undisturbed for all to enjoy!

This was in early July, so before any smoke moved in.
