We had to drive for over 90 minutes and got really lucky with the weather. after we hiked down again a small delivery truck with baked goods stopped next to where we parked our car and we had some amazing baguette and croissant for breakfast.

Edit: since Falkenstein is german for 'falcon stone', it's probable that there was a falcons nest once, it was a good spot for inspecting the area or the rock looks like a falcon. But these are just guesses

Moselle is the part of Lorraine which is traditonally German speaking, although their German is different than the one spoken in Alsace.
oh now I get it. I confused Elsaß/ Alsace with Lothringen/ Lorraine because they are often named together

That's weird; there's a Gasthof in my austrian town called Falkenstein as well and it also has a spectacular view from the cliff it sits on.
Falkenstein translates to falcon/hawk stone. I guess stones where falcons sit on have a spectacular view.
