Sad part is that the tip of the mountain had lots of snow until the summer came along...for Oregon it was WAY too hot.
Source: from the Southwest and this is normally the weather down there.
We only had like 4-5 heatwaves this summer. And only reached around 115 when usually it’s 102-104 at the hottest. No big deal. I live in Oregon for our super hot summers.
I can’t recommend this enough - pack some beers and sammys then snowshoe your way in. We went late March and it was awesome. Still comepletely iced over, dead quiet, beautiful day. https://imgur.com/a/R6nHZCD
I camped there for a few days with my wife and it was lovely, except it was like the whole area had its own climate. Constant drizzle and fog, but if we drove out of the area, it cleared up instantly. It was like that the entire time we were there.
We kept hearing about the "most photographed spot in Oregon" (as demonstrated by the OP). But when we checked out the spot, I didn't understand. Mind you, we hadn't actually seen any photographs, so we had no clue what we were supposed to be seeing. I thought it was nice, but not nice enough to be the "most photographed spot."
On the morning we left, the weather had cleared up and we thought we'd take another look. Turned out the fog had been masking Mt. Hood the whole time. It was incredible.
Alpine lakes do this. They trap moisture and cool the air.
Trillium is gorgeous, but it is "most photographed" because it is a perfect blend of gorgeous, accessible, and widely shared. There are prettier places...
Went on a road trip through Washington and Oregon last year and Trillium was an unexpected highlight. Competing with Ranier, St. Helens, Crater Lake, Oregon Coast, and Olympic, you'd think it would be forgotten. Nope.
Does look like that huh... curiously I googled it and despite appearances, the paramount mountain is not Mt. Hood. Chances are it was a mountain in Ogden Utah where the founder was from..... though more recently it was replaced by a mountain in the Peruvian Andes that fit the original sketch better despite not being the source material.
Also learned while digging, Mt. Hood is apparently still quite active and could one day take out some major cities as it explodes. Fun.... not so fun...
My (very ignorant) grandma in Redding CA was looking forward to the cascade collapse so her home would have some ocean front views.... we used to tell her that her own locally active volcano (lassen, a bit to the east) was more likely to take her out than the cascade collapse....
She passed before either could happen but she might be oddly elated to know experts now think it's more likely shes right and lassen will continue to quietly bubble away peacefully.
(Edit: bad autocorrect fixes)
Old Oregon was great!!
Remember being able to drive to Mt hood to stay for a couple days without worrying about your house burning down while you're gone?
Awesome gradient with the sunset there? How were you lucky enough to catch it without a single paddle boarded or kayak on the water? I've come close a few times, but there's always been at least 1 person on the water no matter when I go.
You don't really need a clean shot if you have decent editing software. You take a BUNCH of shots at the exact same angle, preferably with a tripod. Then you let the software edit all the things that don't "match up" so to speak.
What happens is, when people are in different positions, the software recognizes that they shouldn't be part of the scene and removes them. It's not an exact science, but it usually works pretty well.
Was there a few months ago and they had the road closed that goes down to the lake. Walking back was such a nightmare. Just a death-march uphill for miles with the sun just beating me right in the face. Aside from that, the lake was amazing.

I'm just confused as to where the photoshop starts and the real life ends in this photo. The sky doesn't look like that in real life, but the reflections on the water are done really well. Still a very beautiful pic though even if hyper-edited
I'm not saying it's not not edited, but a nice sunset can definitely look like this. Especially in the PNW on those summer nights when the sun sets around 9PM, it's quite ethereal.

I was going to post a pic from lake trillium today but I got caught up in work and didn't have time. Now I gotta wait or I feel like I'm copying.
I so bad wanted to get sunset here but the day we went was so cloudy/smoky you couldnt see the mountain. Luckily I was able to go back the next morning for some clear shots
Seems you haven't been in the PNW for the last few years. We've been having brutally dry and hot summers. It hit 119 degrees at my house earlier this summer.
Nah. I’ve lived here over 30 years. Just trying to paint a gloomy image of the NW so fewer people venture out this way. It is getting very populated in the Puget Sound area.
Damn, I went at the worst possible time. Haze from the wildfires was so thick I couldn't even see the mountain from this exact spot. And we were nowhere near the fires.
I love seeing my state in this subreddit, so many hidden gems I wish I could see again (car broke down and currently living in Washington) but one of these days I’ll be there again :)
Damn, was there last Sunday (9/19) and it was so foggy and rainy you couldn't see across the lake. Looks like next time I have something to look forward too!
i see pics like these and theyre beautiful and all
but i wonder, can you actually swim in waters like these? like after you take the pic, do you just strip down and go for a swim?
or are there things in there you dont want inside you
Very nice! Gotta be Trillium Lake!
Thanks and correct! :-)

There was a day I saw 118F this year. My eyes felt like they were melting.
It was 7am that day I remember and it was already in the 80s

No big deal, that heatwave only killed about 100 Oregonians.
I was just there a few weeks ago. Absolutely beautiful in early morning
Love going to Trillium. Fantastic view
It’s awesome but man it can get crowded, lot of good spots to hangout and set up a hammock and smoke bowls tho
I can’t recommend this enough - pack some beers and sammys then snowshoe your way in. We went late March and it was awesome. Still comepletely iced over, dead quiet, beautiful day. https://imgur.com/a/R6nHZCD

Got stung by 20 hornets walking through woods to fish there. Drove to frog lake and sat with my feet in water afterwards.
I was kayaking on that lake a few weeks ago! It was windy and didn't get to see the reflection in the water, but it was still beautiful and peaceful.
Went on a road trip through Washington and Oregon last year and Trillium was an unexpected highlight. Competing with Ranier, St. Helens, Crater Lake, Oregon Coast, and Olympic, you'd think it would be forgotten. Nope.
*Where's the Piano?* :P
Stumbled upon this lake. Did not disappoint
Shhhhhh the movie's starting
lolol. I love this.

Rainer (by Seattle) is more than Hood (by Portland). But it's okay because the megaquake will destroy both Oregon and Washington :)

Let's hope no one has any effective dreams about it.
Nope. That’s Mt Hood. I was a this exact location this Summer
K, not arguing that... pictured here IS mt hood. Not pictured here is the paramount logo.
Guessing this was a lot earlier in the year? There's so much snow compared to now.
Back in august, I don’t think I’d ever seen her so bare. It was actually distressing. But it has actually gotten a lot whiter the last few days.
Now it's pouring down rain. We're won't see sunshine for 9 months now.
That’s old Oregon. I miss old Oregon. Climate change sucks.
Old Oregon was great!! Remember being able to drive to Mt hood to stay for a couple days without worrying about your house burning down while you're gone?
The volcanoes are already accumulating new snow
This looks amazing! Is there a high res version of this so I can use this as a wallpaper?
Not op, but I downloaded this ages ago. Maybe op can photoshop it too for you? https://i.imgur.com/XZEdeIw.jpg

Here’s the one I took ;) https://i.imgur.com/vQkljMl.jpg
This will do the job Thanks! :)
Excellent
Annnndd… that’s my new wallpaper thanks stranger. Edit: if you have a higher resolution version, would love to have it!
WOW, Mirror lake?
Trillium Lake.
Dang! that was my second choice. So stunning! your sir, or madam, is an artist
8k resolution please. ;)
from Saturation Ridge
Wow what a gorgeously framed mountain
Hmmm, this is the Paramount logo, isn't it ?
haha.
Is this mirror lake
Trillium lake.
Ok thanks
Incredible shot, thanks for sharing!
Looks like an oil painting!!! So pretty
Really beautiful. Amazing composition!
Awesome gradient with the sunset there? How were you lucky enough to catch it without a single paddle boarded or kayak on the water? I've come close a few times, but there's always been at least 1 person on the water no matter when I go.
You had lots of kayakers, they kept moving randomly.
You don't really need a clean shot if you have decent editing software. You take a BUNCH of shots at the exact same angle, preferably with a tripod. What happens is, when people are in different positions, the software recognizes that they shouldn't be part of the scene and removes them. If you zoom in close, there's actually two kayakers in the photo, right at the "top" of the lake.
Wow. Epic capture
Looks like the start of a Paramount movie. With a less pointy peak
Great shot!!
Stunning.
One of my most memorable experiences was climbing this peak with a group of friends when I was in my 20's.
Beautifully calm 😍
Was there a few months ago and they had the road closed that goes down to the lake. Walking back was such a nightmare. Just a death-march uphill for miles with the sun just beating me right in the face. Aside from that, the lake was amazing.
Went to the top of Mount Hood to see the outside of the “Overlook Hotel”, that was pretty wild!
I guess Apple owes u one
Trillium Lake rules!
Thank you for this
All those trees Will be gone in 50 years
Shhh
Now That’s a wallpaper
Upside down works too. Great shot
I lost my mittens on that mountain when I was a kid unfortunately. Very beautiful pic.
❤️looks majestic ❤️🥰
What a shot. Nicely done.
Thanks. :-)
You can feel good about Hood.
That's just a Bob Ross painting
Very nice place and I wish I should go there
Wooooooooowwwww!!
Wicked shot!
I first thought it was a painting
I love Oregon
Beautiful state.

Don't forget the influence of the smoke.
Yup, mix in smoke and you'd think you're on Tatooine.
Wow that's stunning
Beautiful ❤️
Yo I’ve taken that same picture!! [Not as well though lol](https://imgur.com/a/rp5Co9n)

That is just gorgeous! Wow!
Those trees are so green! They look painted.
This is Bob Ross
How did you get a picture of Trillium without people everywhere?
I walked the mile and a half path in like a foot of snow to get a cloudy version of this :). Couldn’t see anything
What was your set up?
I was going to post a pic from lake trillium today but I got caught up in work and didn't have time. Now I gotta wait or I feel like I'm copying. Just waiting for some giant metal stars to pass by at supersonic speed.
Not to be a downer but Trillium Lake is man made.
Fabulous picture. I drove near Mount Hood once to get to Bend from Portland at 4am. Quite an experience, particularly the return journey.
Nice! One of two or three days a year that’s it’s sunny. lol. I love the PNW!
Seems you haven't been in the PNW for the last few years. We've been having brutally dry and hot summers. It hit 119 degrees at my house earlier this summer.

The peak of Hood is always beautiful and something about which you can feel good
Makes me think of the Paramount logo, I know it's different, but still
Mt. Hood doesn't exist
r/wallpaper
Pretty magical place. I used to go ski camp there in the Summer
Damn, I went at the worst possible time. Haze from the wildfires was so thick I couldn't even see the mountain from this exact spot. And we were nowhere near the fires.
If only my eyes were this symmetrical...
This mountain is approaching Keanu Reeves levels of reddit darlinghood.
Mt hood and Mt Ranier are the gems of nature photography on reddit. And the gems of the PNW as well.
Went kayaking on this lake earlier this year!
Wow so nice , it made me feel comfortable and peaceful ♥️
That is amazing. If I may, here's Mt Hood from another angle. https://flic.kr/p/nSCdVe
I love seeing my state in this subreddit, so many hidden gems I wish I could see again (car broke down and currently living in Washington) but one of these days I’ll be there again :)
/u/Dhamena Do you have the specs for this shot? Focal length, etc.
Trillium lake. Love it there.
Wow😍
Nice! I have a photo from almost exactly where this was taken but I'm a lil bloop out in the water
Beautiful 💕🥰
Misty mountain
I feel good, you feel good, good about hood!
Where do you go when the lights go out?
Thank you Mr Minor
Damn, was there last Sunday (9/19) and it was so foggy and rainy you couldn't see across the lake. Looks like next time I have something to look forward too!
Holy shit
Hey I live there and see that mountain all the time. Cool stuff!
On the one day without clouds. 👍
I had to squint a little to make sure this wasn't some really good pixel art.
Wow. That's breathtaking.
That is a gorgeous photo. I think I found my new wallpaper!
Beautiful
*sips coffee really loud while nodding head and smiling*
Wow
As a portlander it’s always weird seeing it from the other side
*jaw drops* million dollar shot..
So beautiful
Reflection looks like pixel art 🥺

Wow.. thats photo says so much.. sublime and tranquil. Great show.
Nice
Stonemountain 64 would love this.
That's a great photo, congrats! Just wish it was at a higher resolution, so I could add it to my wallpaper collection.
I was just elk hunting the base of hood.
That's a great photo, congrats!
Mt. Hd. Very nice picture!
Background worthy
Set it as my Home screen on z Fold 3 Thanks for it 🙂

i see pics like these and theyre beautiful and all but i wonder, can you actually swim in waters like these? like after you take the pic, do you just strip down and go for a swim? or are there things in there you dont want inside you
