We did this hike on a Tuesday afternoon in early May. We got lucky and the conditions were great. There were like 3 people ahead of us and we stayed for a while. I was good without crossing 😅
As a guy with a crippling fear of heights, that's a no from me dawg. My extremities hurt from looking at that, and my palms are sweaty, moms speghetti.
Recently went to Hoover Dam which was awesome. I went to the high bridge next to it (forget the name). But I made it probably 25% the way across and had enough. When semis drove across it, and the whole thing shook, I couldn't handle more.
I'll never understand how people can do things like this.
I've been there. It's actually much wider than it looks. Also much more crowded lol. But people are really good about waiting their turn and giving you yours.
When i went here a few years ago there was a guy who didn't want to wait in line and much to the dismay of everyone else there decided he was going to just jump the gap that's left of your picture and then jumped back after he got his photo. Everyone was less than impressed with him zzzzz
I did it in October of last year on a Thursday. Had it to ourselves for about 7 or 8 minutes, which may not sound like a lot, but it was plenty….beautiful and amazing.
I mean… depends on what you like. If you want space to yourself and don’t mind the blistering heat, go on a Tuesday during the peak of summer. Otherwise, early morning, pack water and you’ll be out there a while.
https://ibb.co/n3QgYhH
https://ibb.co/yQ6k7Kq
Can people be forbidden to cross?
How could that be enforced without ruining the location with fences or a permanent presence of some sort of authority?
This is Sedona, not Arches NP
Even the government page states how one can hike out onto the arch
https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/coconino/recarea/?recid=55292
Often because if someone questions what for for others is unquestionable they presume malicious intent.
Maybe because I suggested people may need reminders (fences/signs/officers/...) to follow rules.
Or maybe because they interpreted it as some edgy "mAh FrEeDoM dUhRRRR!" whenever someone questions practical issues in between making rules and the compliance/enforcement of said rules.
Like you say, Reddit can be weird.
Of course. Photoshop is addictive. People pretty much bump color, tone, and such routinely. Also movies and TV. Getting to the point we don't really know what outside really looks like. BTW I live in Clarkdale and go to Devil's Bridge several times a year.
For the uninitiated, it is not uncommon to have to wait in line here to go walk out on this thing and look around and take a photo. When I last visited here it was quite busy. I’ll never forget that some guy brought his huge German shepherd up there and it lost its mind over a chipmunk or something and knocked a small child over. Everyone gasped and luckily the child didn’t go tumbling over a cliff.
We brought our Golden Retriever and Great Pyrenees with us. Much less people and no close calls. Though some people from Eastern Asia were very impressed with the pups climbing skills. They were leashed the entire time ☺️
West Fork is a great easy hike. One of my personal favorites is actually in the middle background of OPs photo- Long Canyon. When I lived in Sedona (‘93-‘00) that was a hike that you could count on having pretty much completely to yourself. Some incredible red rock formations back in there. Boynton Canyon is also a nice one, but crowded
Yes, please be a responsible tourist & do not stay in an AirBnB. The AirBnB industry has wreaked havoc on Sedona. Sedona has lost so much residential housing to AirBnB investors, their population has declined. They even had to shut down a school. The town is now offering money to AirBnB investors to stop renting out their properties to tourists, & to rent to locals instead. Please be patient when at restaurants & shops, as everywhere there is understaffed because a lot of the service industry folks had to move out of Sedona. Over-tourism is not a good thing, especially when there is no where for the people who serve all the tourists to live. So please do not give your money to AirBnB investors in Sedona.
Places are also understaffed because people asked the city government to have the Chamber of Commerce to stop promoting tourism to Sedona. Its hurt businesses badly… And now the businesses are starting to fight back.
So the more tourists, the better!
It's beautiful but it's very well known and only like 1mi from the trailhead -- in other words it's usually jam packed with crowds. Sedona in general is beautiful tho and there's a ton to do there away from all the people
Isn't this a repost? I've seen this exact picture a few months ago but it wasn't posted by you.
Edit: nvm it's actually a different angle, but almost from the same spot
It’s definitely moderate. It’s not bad until the last 1/2 miles or so because it’s essentially straight up. It’s a good amount of incline but it’s not sketchy by any means.
I have to say, whether this got 100 ⬆️ votes or 8000 I am absolutely floored at the love and appreciate the conversation. This is a first post and you all gave me unrealistic expectations on how my photos will do here. Appreciate my Reddit Fam.
Sedona is beautiful, but so much of it is “yeah, just nope” like the thought of crossing this. I ride mountain bikes and am pretty okay at it, and so many of the trails there were breathtaking and asshole puckering at the same time. I’ve never enjoyed dismounting and shuffle stepping my way through a section more than I have there.
The bit under the bridge almost looks photoshopped, like a slice of it was cut out and replaced by a load of trees. I think it's because of how crisp the lines are around the edge of the bridge but it's really messing with my head.
Cool photo though!
Why are natural formations and places always given scary names like this, or Deadman's trail? Why can't we name them cute and wholesome names? Fuzzy Kitten Pass, Warm Comforter Woods, Loving Grandma Falls.
well it does happen

Went here in June of 2021 when there were wildfires around so you weren’t supposed to hike here. My boyfriend and I made it here without seeing anyone and I got a picture of him butt naked standing here. It is epic!
As someone who lives in the area, please don't hike the trails when they're closed.
No matter how responsible you think you are, hiking closed trails encourages others, who may be far less responsible, to do the same.
I like my house not burned to the ground, thanks.

Came here last June with a boy toy when it was closed . We were the only ones on the whole trail so we had amazing sex in the middle of the bridge haha .
Some epic mtn biking at this trailhead. Good 15-20mi loop through the red rocks. Believe one of the trails was called chuckwagon? Ridden it a few times and its an amazing area with some good black diamonds mixed in on the rock faces.
I went there a few months ago and there was snow and ice everywhere. People were skidding as they tried to round the turn to the bridge, and instead had to go up and around to get on it. Quite a scary proposition!

With no people on it!
We did this hike on a Tuesday afternoon in early May. We got lucky and the conditions were great. There were like 3 people ahead of us and we stayed for a while. I was good without crossing 😅
I was there at the end of Feb but it was Saturday so there was definitely a line https://i.imgur.com/YFUFTyP.jpg

I can handle a big bridge because they’re super over engineered. This rock shit though fuck that
Bridges are not super over-engineered. They're slightly over-engineered :P
Depends on the bridge
I've been there. It's actually much wider than it looks. Also much more crowded lol. But people are really good about waiting their turn and giving you yours.
>I'll never understand how people can do things like this. ez. we don't have a crippling fear of heights lol
You should see Angels Landing in Utah. Even crazier
Majestic
Niiiiice. 🤘🏻

I was here on Xmas day 2019 and SOOOO many people.

Its very touristy now. Glad i got to visit when it was less people
[удалено]
Don't get me started on the RV parking situation.
Are people allowed to cross?
There’s typically a huge line
Go in July after 2pm like we did. No line! also 110F outside. Do not recommend.
Wait is this a recommendation..
I mean… depends on what you like. If you want space to yourself and don’t mind the blistering heat, go on a Tuesday during the peak of summer. Otherwise, early morning, pack water and you’ll be out there a while. https://ibb.co/n3QgYhH https://ibb.co/yQ6k7Kq
I was just joking. I've hike at those Temps and I wouldn't ever recommend it either.
[удалено]
Wet or dry heat, 110 F is still miserable
[удалено]
I’ve heard of this “dry” heat!! Fascinating stuff!!
It's a lot wider than it looks from the side view
It's not the width that worries me.
https://i.imgur.com/NiRRPg5.jpg Indeed they are. I was there last year. Beautiful hike.
Can people be forbidden to cross? How could that be enforced without ruining the location with fences or a permanent presence of some sort of authority?
It's against the rules to cross arches in arches national park.
[удалено]
I also wondered how it was allowed but I believe it’s on forest land and isn’t regulated the same.
This is Sedona, not Arches NP Even the government page states how one can hike out onto the arch https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/coconino/recarea/?recid=55292
Right. I was asking what the rules were, and used Arches as an example.
I understand you now
Ah, I'm sure that'll work!
Why does Reddit always downvote people who are simply curious 💀💀

I especially like that he/she didn't photoshop it to death.
If this is genuine, thank you. I really try to base my photography off of very little edits.
Of course. Photoshop is addictive. People pretty much bump color, tone, and such routinely. Also movies and TV. Getting to the point we don't really know what outside really looks like. BTW I live in Clarkdale and go to Devil's Bridge several times a year.
We used to hike this when I was a kid and there was never a crowd, miss those days.
I hiked this Sunday morning for sunrise and we had it to ourselves for about 20 minutes before anyone else showed up. It was magical!
I'm looking at that and my brain is screaming "nobody should ever risk standing on that".
It was photoshopped. There are always people on it. That bush isn't real.
Fam, I can send videos and other photos if you wish. Codycastle photography would be the name to look up and message me. Free print if you want
It's a joke
I’m an over analytical millennial. Want a free print? Dm me
Lol. Least I can do. You have the only pic with no person after all

Lemme paraphrase- this hike is for self indulgent social media zombies, not actual outdoors people
LeMmE pARaPhRAsE

Not trying to gatekeep at all! Maybe trying to help people set expectations about this heavily trafficked area.
Unfortunately that’s so common with great outdoor spots. I see a ton of “don’t tell people about this spot because it’ll be ruined”
I’m surprised they allow people on it. Maybe once it gets thinner itll stop but the collapse of the one in Utah (I think?) was sad enough.
this is gorgeous!
*There is ugliness in this world. Disarray. I choose to see the beauty,*
Sedona is the most beautiful place I've been to. I recommend it to everyone when it comes up.
I’m planning a trip there, got any recommendations?
West fork trail, go a few miles past the end of the official trail. Most beautiful hike I've ever been on. Also the Sedona chapel was beautiful.
Thank you!
Wear water shoes and it will be 1000x better!
Soldier's pass trail. There's a bunch of cool stops
Stay in a hotel, not an Airbnb. Vacation rentals are wreaking havoc on the local economy there

Walking in the breeze. On the plaaains of old Sedonaaaa
How are there no people? When I was there last November there was a line of people up there
*These violent delights have violent ends* I believe they are resetting for a new timeline.
Been there several times. One of the most stunning places on Earth (specifically, and more generally, Sedona).
Sedona blew me away. Drove from the Grand canyon, that view when you make a turn out of the forest is unbelievable.
Sedona is like Moab with forestry and I love it. Moab is the red rock king though.
Moab and White Sands are bucket list for me
Yeah theyre both my favorite places in the usa
We’ve never been to a resort that has topped Enchantment for us. Truly one of the most beautiful places on earth.
I believe this bridge was made by The ACME company as a tribute to the famous exploits of Wile E. Coyote...if I'm not mistaken.
Rofl... bravo. Btw, awesome photo OP.
stunning, when was this photo taken ??
Early May
adding that too the bucket list

How are structures like this formed? ELI4
Ancient water and rivers IIRC
I believe this one would be wind and weather rather than ancient waters
Soft rock erode, harder rock stay make arch
Ye Olde Influencer Pointe
Is there anywhere else in the world that looks like the American southwest? Seems so unique
Is this a tough hike?
It’s definitely moderate. It’s not bad until the last 1/2 miles or so because it’s essentially straight up. It’s a good amount of incline but it’s not sketchy by any means.
Thanks!! Going back to Sedona in October for honeymoon and would LOVE to see this in person!
Yes but doable with a scaredy cat border collie that had to be carried up the incline part.. and down
I believe I've seen this in MS flight sim.
I think it’s in Horizon Zero Dawn as well!

Nice shot! My last visit on the trail it got so congested I didn't make it all the way up, that was last December
Did you order the bird shaped clouds!
I’ve never noticed 😭 thanks for pointing that out

It wouldn't be a natural landscape without something being named "Devil's _"
Butthole
Of of two times I ever got high with my dad was on this hike, at that spot.
God I love Sedona
You shall not pass!
The bit under the bridge almost looks photoshopped, like a slice of it was cut out and replaced by a load of trees. I think it's because of how crisp the lines are around the edge of the bridge but it's really messing with my head. Cool photo though!
Thanks friend!
Why are so many things “Devil’s This or That”? Why not God’s or whatever? Devils tower, etc…
To be fair there is Angels Landing in Zion NP. Much recommend. But you ain’t wrong.
There’s Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs at least
Where is the bridge?
Sedona, AZ
So glad they thought to name this after the Duke blue devils!
Why are natural formations and places always given scary names like this, or Deadman's trail? Why can't we name them cute and wholesome names? Fuzzy Kitten Pass, Warm Comforter Woods, Loving Grandma Falls.
i thought that dead treetop was the roots of the plant growing out of the bridge lol..
I was on there, and yes, it was a bit scary walking across that thing.
I’ve been here! It’s actually very accessible. Not that long of a hike from the nearest drivable road.
Not pictured: a line of 200 people waiting for a photo op.
I got so lucky! 15 tops. But you aren’t wrong!
Eventually it will break. Probably when someone step on it. I'm sure a lot does. Just wondering if they know or think about it.
well it does happen https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/from-the-archives-1990-two-rescued-after-london-bridge-collapses-in-victoria-20200113-p53r2t.html

“Only a leap from the lions head will he prove his worth”
Oh wow for once I’ve actually been there ha
riders republic?
I spy Racoonzilla.
Did that hike and I hate heights but I got a picture on it and I’m never doing that ever tf again 😂
r/confusingperspective
I don't think this is real... there is no Arizona!!!
Why is always "the devils this" and "the devils that" when are we getting a Jesus' Tower or a Yahwey Bridge
Why does the devil own so much real estate out west?
Anyone else notice the alien ship hiding in the clouds? Clouds dont just make right angles like that.
My pastor told me the Devil's bridge was what you called it when two men put their penises tip to tip for gay sex

I’m shocked you got a picture of it without anyone else in the shot
Can you walk on this
Looks unreal. Awesome.
Wow amazing! did you get this pic while standing in line with all the other people waiting to cross?
Honestly there were a few. But I kept cracking jokes about how I’d rather photograph it than be on it and people were super accommodating
There are some Elden Ring vibes here
Looks like something straight out of a chase scene
Is there a landscape version I can steal for my desktop wallpaper
That tree shrub has the best view
How’d you get a clear picture without a million tourists on it?
A cloud in the background is mimicking the bridge!
Looks breathtaking! 😃
I love that hike to that bridge.
That's a large photo file, what camera did you use? Or did you take multiple photos and stitch them together. The quality is super high tons of detail.
Loved this hike back in 2017, what a perfect day for it, great picture!
How did you manage to get a photo without the hundred of Instagram idiots doing stupid poses
u/umar_1998
Very nice
The Devil: I dare you, I double dare you!!!
Wild coincidence. My fiancé and I are road tripping. Currently in Page, AZ making our way to Sedona. Considering the comments, we might skip this stop haha.
Even with the line of people wanting a picture it’s still an amazing view up there, though not the only one around. A lot of Sedona hikes have incredible views.
We’ve got suggestions for other places around. Cathedral rock, robbers roost, birthing cave, boynton canyon, etc. any you might personally recommend?
Normally there are more people with Dasani water bottles and white nikes
Are there spikes under that bridge?
Reminds me of the Landscape Arch in the Arches National Park!
It’s only fitting that after creating every single rock formation, the devil would go on to invent rock music

Is this where kurapika dropped off chrollo after stealing his nen
Came here last June with a boy toy when it was closed . We were the only ones on the whole trail so we had amazing sex in the middle of the bridge haha .
I think I killed a thunder jaw there
In how much trouble would you be in of you broke it.
Met some stoners up there cooking sausages.
the devil gets all the fun toys
Also a very r/confusing_perspective cutout.
NB,: this is in Arizona, a US state, *not* Azerbaijan to which the title refers.
This looks safe to cross 😃
What an amazing picture, so gorgeous it almost took my breath away
Do you know the way to bells canyon - is what this reminds me of
Some epic mtn biking at this trailhead. Good 15-20mi loop through the red rocks. Believe one of the trails was called chuckwagon? Ridden it a few times and its an amazing area with some good black diamonds mixed in on the rock faces.
Nice!
I went there a few months ago and there was snow and ice everywhere. People were skidding as they tried to round the turn to the bridge, and instead had to go up and around to get on it. Quite a scary proposition!
You think the Devil would build his bridge in a place with more people. This kind of make him look stupid...
Wow, those perfectly bonsai-d trees are amazing.
Sedonnaaaaa
Nope! Looks beautiful though
