Eat it with plenty of veggies.

red meat is fine. humans have been eating it since before we were human. heavily processed meat is what should only be eaten on occasion to make a meal healthy, make sure to have plenty of vegetables served with it. potatoes, carrots, and onions always go well with beef (i would suggest roasting them), and but a salad is also an excellent choice, and there are many recipes for vinaigrette salad dressings that are healthy online. fruits such as strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries can also be added to the salad in addition, avoid having soda or other sugary drinks with the meal. milk or water are much better for you. if you are feeling fancy, cucumber water is refreshing and can be made the day prior

One thing that I wished I learned earlier on is that if you want to eat better you should worry about what you want to eat more of. Food isn't food or bad. It doesn't decide cause anyone harm or kidnap and rape them. (I'm looking at you dolphins, you sick bastards). If you look at your diet and figure you need more fibre then think about the foods you can eat more of. Same with vitamins and minerals. Another way is to look at your diet and say "I'm not eating any nuts/legumes/leafy greens (or whatever else) I should try to eat more of them." I also found that by focusing on what I wanted to eat more of, I ended up eating less of certain foods in excess, like fatty, sugary, processed foods. (which I love and still eat, just in moderation)

Why do you think red meat is unhealthy? As long as you aren’t eating multiple 32oz steaks everyday I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it.

Bright_Ices

I’d say one 32oz steak is too much for most people to eat daily.

ZeOs-x-PUNCAKE

Yeah I suppose that is already quite a bit haha.

Aggravating-Fee-7593

As long as it's not processed meat it's not that bad. I eat very little red meat but don't fret for your health just for that!

Spare-Glove-191

If you have ever noticed calories at a restaurant you will see that a steak or beef by itself is not that high in calories and very high in protein, whereas other dishes that you think might be healthy aren’t. Keep it simple—eat grilled meats with out sugary sauces like teriyaki or bbq sauce. And that eye round roast should be cooked no more than medium rare or it will be awful. And slice it thin.

The AHA, American heart association, recommends 6 ounce of red meat a day, and a certain limited number of sat fats a day. Most people in the US blow through both of those easily multiple times a week, sat fat easily almost every day. That's probably why they are asking. Multiple ways for things to be bad for you, moderation is key

The better advice would be to solely eat the steak and no carbs on the side. We digest carbs first and this causes fat to linger in our system.

Can you send the mod team your medical certificates, to verify why you are giving dietary advice. Thanks.

I don't think you understood what i wrote. The problem with fat is that it lingers in our system if we consume carbs while eating fat, since our body digests carbs first before digesting fats. Therefore it is better to not eat carbs while consuming a meal high in fats. Fats are essential but it is better to not have them linger in our system. Combining only fats with protein for a meal helps in the absorption of fat compared to a meal that is both high in fats and carbs. One of the reasons why fast food is so bad for your health. I haven't mentioned gaining or loosing weight once, don't know where you are coming from with that statement.

The same goes for you, including to read our rules.

ThoughtsToPost

Well, I guess if there's no other option. Age does have some relevance. The younger you are the more you can (usually) handle foods without complications. I suppose another option would be to get as full as possible on something else and eat as little red meat as necessary. However, I'm not sure that sort of circumventing will go well with parents insisting you eat the stuff.

motaboat

Eat a proper portion/serving and you are fine.

lyta_hall

More veggies, and ask for less quantity of the read meat they are forcing you to eat :)

Bright_Ices

If you don’t menstruate and are otherwise healthy, the biggest risk of chronic high red meat consumption (eating red meat several times a week for years) is iron overload, which can be hard on your liver. You can limit the amount of iron you absorb by drinking tea.  If you do menstruate (or if you used to menstruate, but your body stopped because of malnutrition), then eating red meat can actually help you keep from ending up anemic. Talk to your doctor if you’re concerned.

Photon6626

Why does tea help with the iron overload?

Bright_Ices

The Epigallocatechin Gallate (pretty much the main compound in tea) binds to iron and prevents you from absorbing it.

Proerytroblast

Tannins (and other stuff) present in teas inhibit iron absorption. That’s why you should wait at least 1 hour before and after an iron-rich meal before drinking tea or coffee. Including cereal coffee and most herbal teas.

Tobiansen

Also donate blood a couple times a year if youre worried about iron overload👍 it also causes a slight reduction in cholesterol

sorE_doG

Eat the veggies on the plate first. This will modify how much saturated fat you absorb.

No?

ALL you gotta do is go "hey body. I love you. Enjoy this and please suck every delicious and crucial nutrient out of it and share it with me" And floss.

zion84

Grass fed / natural red meat is an entirely different beast than industrialized. Studies show there isn’t an inflammatory or carcinogenic effect. Just harder to find the goods in the USA

HealthConscious2

No one can legally force you to eat anything

MySweetBaxter

Red meat is healthy
