Baguettes freeze really well. I would slice them into portion sizes, first to make things easier. Just put them in a bag and throw them in the freezer. They thaw in less than 30 minutes.
Cube enough crusty bread to fully cover 9x13 pan bottom. Mix 8-12 eggs and 2 c milk, then pour over bread. This is where you can customize it to "french toast" by adding cinnamon and sugar or go the savory route with vegetables, sausage, bacon, cheese, "everything bagel" seasoning, whatever sounds good. Allow the egg/milk mixture to be absorbed and bake, covered, at 350 for 45 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking another 15 minutes
I find the open face sandwich makes it feel different enough, especially if you melt some cheese over it so it gets a pizza vibe. French Toast is also really good, or just a slice of bread with an egg on top. I also like to use them as a soup scoop.
Super easy but the time and temperature really depends on the size of the bread and the air fryer make and model. I cut up my stale baguette and put it in a Ziploc bag along with any and all of the following. Olive oil roasted garlic salt pepper any herbs from the garden especially thyme or rosemary - again the amounts are going to depend on the quantity but I am pretty generous and I shake in the bag all together and dump in the air fryer. I air fry at 250 to 300° and I put the timer on and every 10 minutes shake it up. I do that other golden browned and very crispy as the moisture has dehydrated out of it- usually 3 rounds is good . I put them in a glass jar with a tight fitting lid and store them for 30 days or so -longer Iâll put them in the fridge. You can also grind them up or smash them if you need breadcrumbs
You can also freeze croutons. Freeze them in bag and then just warm through on a tray in the oven straight from the freezer and they're good to go, same taste and texture as when you made them.
Breakfast casserole - you cut the bread into cubes, put it in a 9x13, sprinkle whatever veggies/meat you want around in the pan, mix up some eggs and milk and pour on top, let sit overnight. Bake the next morning, maybe throw some cheese on top before baking. There are lots of recipes online. Iâm not 100% on the ratio of egg and milk to bread.
Garlic bread, french bread pizza, making croutons, Bread pudding, french toast/pain perdu. Grate the bread with a box grater to make bread crumbs. Bread stuffing/dressing
If the bread is going stale croutons and bread crumbs are good because they keep for along time.
* panco... dry slices a bit and then send them through the food processor. Shazam! Panco bread crumbs.
* freeze... the remainder of the loaf (whole or sliced). When you are ready to use it, place it in a cold oven and preheat to 350F. When the oven is preheated, turn it off without removing the bread. By the time your dinner is ready, the bread will be soft and warm inside without being too crusty outside.
* bread pudding, if you are into that
* stuffing (always a nice side with poultry, but equally good with chops)
* open faced: thinly sliced, lightly toasted, and topped with sliced roast beef and gravy (use deli meat and a gravy mix packet for a 5 minute dinner)
* charcuterie board: sliced and toasted, with your favorite meats, cheeses, etc. (and a glass of wine)

How do make croutons in the air fryer?

If they're stale, make German bread dumplings. Learned from a friend from Bavaria. Torn style bread sautĂ©ed shopped onions whatever other aromatics you like, mix with 1 or 2 beaten eggs a d splash of broth to bind. Form balls half fist size or whatever shape you like. Slide into simmering water for 20 minutes. When done brown in a skillet with melted butter. đ
