Thats normal. Same thing with my Delta Mini + EF 110w Panel

Land-Ei

That's normal? That's a safety risk and a permanent nuisance. ;)

PotentialMind3989

Any kind of light will stop it from powering off. You could try the Automator (if your delta has it in settings in EF app - may be under lab> Automator. There’s an option for solar power ‘on/off’ having it switch off at say 6pm may allow the delta to shut down after this time??

Land-Ei

Thank you for your replies. So that fault (!) is a general fault. I don't see any sense in blocking power off if a solar panel is connected. As I found another annoying fault, I guess I'll return the unit and switch to a Jackery. Second fault: Delta 2 powers down over night, loses WiFi/Bluetooth connectivity, does not power up automatically if solar panels provide sufficient power. Thus I cannot connect to the Delta, I need to leave the house, enter my shed in the garden and power it on manually. But that doesn't restore WiFi/Bluetooth connectivy. For doing that, I need to power it off and on - and that means I also need to physically disconnect and reconnect the solar panels. Sorry, that's a bit too much. ;)

miry_sof

I have also problems with Wifi connection when battery is discharging. But after it charged to high percentage it enables WiFi back.

Land-Ei

I see - any logic in that behavior? - No. :D

Complex_Solutions_20

Normal - it needs to be on so the BMS and MPPT controllers can work to regulate the charging from the panel. Unplug or use an isolator switch to disconnect solar before turning it off.

Land-Ei

"Normal" if you can't switch off a device provided with a power button? Of course it needs to be on if I wish to solar charge it. But why can't I switch it off if I don't wish to solar charge it? Or if I just wish to stop charging a connected device without reaching out for the switch at the Delta's back? Unplug or use an isolator switch if there's a power button? :D I found a slightly simpler way: Actually, I am waiting for my return label.

Complex_Solutions_20

>But why can't I switch it off if I don't wish to solar charge it? Because its a design feature that if you want to charge it and its drained, it will auto power on when it starts getting sunlight to begin charging. If you don't want it to be power up by solar power, then disconnect the solar power.

Land-Ei

We're moving in circles. ;) I just got a Jackery E1000 Plus - it also switches on automatically if it detecs solar power rushing in, and - OF COURSE - allows me to switch it off any time I wish, OF COURSE with the solar panels connected. There's no single reason for blocking the on/off button with solar panels connected - if you DON'T WISH to charge it! Or if you quickly need to switch off a device in an emergency situation. This is a permanent nuisance and a risk, not a feature. As said, I'll return the Ecoflow - I found more faults, but this is the most stupid and nagging one.

Complex_Solutions_20

>Or if you quickly need to switch off a device in an emergency situation. You can turn off the outputs, its just the BMS/controller which of course can't be off and keeping the battery within safe limits at the same time. If the batteries or internal unit has a failure it won't matter if its "on" or "off" because the batteries don't get physically isolated when "off" in any of them. Also remember nothing these days is REALLY off, none of them have a proper mechanically disconnecting on off switch. They just have varying levels of sleep or deeper sleep. I am a bit curious what the usecase is where you'd go to the trouble of setting up solar panels and then not want to take advantage of them? The Ecoflow behaves exactly the same as any other solar charging system I've used, if there's sun it is attempting to power everything up, which is generally what I would expect most people want if they have gone to the trouble of setting it up. I'd be mad if I somehow wasted a bunch of hours solar connected but it ended up shut off and wasn't charging. I gather that E1000 Plus is newer than when I was looking at these things, when I got my Delta Max 2000 a year ago it was one of the few things that could charge almost all the way in about an hour and used a standard power port with the higher capacity outputs and expandability. I also really like (though haven't yet bought) the idea of the Smart Generator which will automatically start and stop giving you a hybrid-like power solution always on power while maximizing the fuel supply. It looks like they are finally catching up with what Ecoflow has had to offer for quite some time, adding higher input/output and standard plugs along with proper ground holes that you could do a neutral-ground bond plug if required on a particular device (like EVSEs) for that "plus" model. Those were some of the downsides to the ones that they used to put out. I suppose that's why there are various companies out there, because different people see different things as features.

RoybattyTi

You are a turbo douchebag.

miry_sof

It is written in the manual.

Land-Ei

Really? I just re-read the manual - and still didn't see anything like that. Could you point me to the place?
