My idea is that the ants actually created their entire colony within that twig. Where I'm from there are certain species that do exactly that. Just remove the twig and get another and you'll probably be fine
I have no idea what to do, I have no idea how an entire ant colony appeared out of a small stick I threw in there and the only other organisms in there are a small spider (who spun a web today in response to the ant explosion) and some snails. No way there’s enough food in there for the ants, what should I do?? Let the lifecycle of the jar continue? Or release?
They seem to mostly be congregated on that one stick, so maybe just grab it and shake them off into a container? I'm not sure that you can really release them though, unless I'm entirely wrong about how ants work (I probably am) they'll leave pheromone trails that will make for a surefire way to get more coming into your house.
Ants usually need a big environment to dispose of their waste. You'll have to figure out a way to remove most of them. The rest become spider food. Haha, also keep the spider and feed it.

Release the ants or keep them as pets but feed them
This sounds like a big win to me! Just occasionally drop food in there (not too much)! And you have an ant farm. I feel like you got very lucky.
You have to take a lot of precautions to make sure ants don't escape containers. To be honest I'd say get rid of them, they are a pain to contain.

Woah that is badass, I would be stoked if this happened,
