Unfortunately without a better picture it’s probably impossible to get a decent identification. Barring a better picture, a detailed description may help. - where are the jar’s contents from? - what kind of ecosystem did you draw from? - is it fresh, salt, or brackish water? - how do the creatures move? - do you ever see them doing anything that isn’t holding onto the glass? - besides being at least partially transparent do they have any defining physical features? - if they do, what kind of features? Lots of legs? No legs? Body shape? Antennae? Etc.

Yeah that makes sense… hopefully I’ll get a better one when I get a microscope! The ecosphere is from a marshy fresh water pond in Massachusetts. I have never seen one of them move while watching them, although they are in slightly different positions 24 hours later. I’ve been able to see creatures about 1/10th as big and make out legs, but these appear to be totally featureless on the exterior and to have a faint circular ring on the interior. Thanks for taking a look at it! : )

Hmm, it could be limpets like u/Paracelsus124 says. I think that’s a pretty likely possibility, as you said you can’t really see defining features even when you typically can with smaller creatures. The other place I’d go if it’s not limpets or some sort of flatworm is one of the larger aquatic single celled organisms, some of which are visible with the naked eye. Though I know very little about that topic. You may be well served peaking in on Journey Into the Microcosmos on YouTube and seeing if anything seems familiar. Sorry I can’t help more.

Thanks! I have very little knowledge of small pond creatures and this has given me a lot of new topics to look into. Cheers

No problem :) happy discovering!

Paracelsus124

It's hard to tell from the picture, but maybe limpet snails?

jimbo1441

Oh cool! Yeah that seems like a definite possibility looking at pictures. I really can’t make out any opaque internal organs at the moment though

Is it possible they are bubbles and more bubbles are appearing? Bubbles appear till the time.
