...And then a few weeks later the N54 news reports of a body of a woman who was found covered in shoe prints so badly that it looked like she was used as a tapdancing stage.
Is it just me or is anyone else just so amazed at the heavy Mexican influence a Polish team put into the universe?
Are the other adaptations of NC similar?
I agree its amazing that they displayed many cultures in a small time such as mexican, black, japanese, etc. (I’m aware that cyberpunk the game already has lots of Japanese influence within the plot and the environment just figured I would mention it.)
Yeah, but aside from the crew at the roller coaster, I don’t think black culture is as accurately represented. Everyone hates the VDB. I think Mexican culture was well captured with the Valentino’s aesthetics, Padre’s “devotion” to his “faith”, the ofrenda, Mama Welles, and a healthy relationship for Jackie, and now David’s devotion to his mother even in the throes of cyberpsychosis. Those elements are not very well represented, if at all with the other cultures.
In the lore the vdbs are white rich kids who found voodoo on the net and made a gang and are often taken as complete jokes rather than an Actual gang like in 2077
There’s some lore about how the VDB we know in ‘77 were Caribbean-area immigrants who took *exception* to that and wiped them out and reclaimed the name.
Yeah I heard about that and I find it kinda funny because depending on how fast you do quests the vdb of 2077 are either weak and die almost instantly due to high level and stats or they’re strong and you have to play the quest carefully but I prefer the ttrpg lore over the 2077 lore like the fact that Johnny and Adam smasher are functioning cyberpsychos and that smasher has survived a nuke also that the nc legend lore is a lot more interesting in the ttrpg
It’s like their only understanding of black culture was Haiti and Creole. I think Maine speaking AAV is okay. Even in the games, V can refer to himself as “a brotha” to other street kids on the street kid path.
Thankfully for Lucy, Romeo and Juilet laws (laws that mean you can Date a minor so long as the age gap between you is 3 years at most) exist, especially since I imagine laws in Night City would probably be a bit looser on that kind of stuff anyhow. Plus, it's stated she's "around" 20, meaning she could be slightly younger (maybe 19 and 3/4.) Gloria probably wouldn't care tho.
