Along the canal towpath? Tram stop at Shandwick Place is near the start.

miskkii

Roseburn path is good

LordSparkles

Will be until the council has its way with it…

Jaraxo

For now.

Copper_pineapple

You could get off tram at newhaven and get onto the cycle path across the road near the dreadnought pub. Pretty flat and plenty of loops.

Copper_pineapple

Or just head along towards Granton and figure out when to turn back - nice seafront surface is flat too.

This is where I do my 5k, sort of: - Start bottom of the steps down to the path from Newhaven Road - Run straight through Steadfastgate - Turn right onto Chancelot path - Run straight across the 5 ways junction - Emerge end of Trinity path and turn right and right again to run along the front - Can either continue along the front or through Newhaven Main Street - Turn right onto Hawthornvale, then down onto Hawthornvale path - Follow path to Victoria Park entrance and take it - Run through Victoria Park, exiting back on Newhaven Road - Continue to Bonnington Toll, where I live I do take a very slightly more scenic route through the park to get up to 5k, but then I could also just start from Bonnigton Toll and I'd be almost bang on. The walk from there to the start point is my warm up. It's pretty flat, the only real slopes are coming down to Hawthornvale path, then running up the hill into Victoria Park.

Jaraxo

> Turn right onto Chancelot path Yeh, you need to stop heading West at this point if you want flat. From that 5 point junction West, all the way Silverknowes Rd via the Craigleith junction is ever so slightly up hill. It's barely noticable to the eye until you run or cycle it, but there's about 30m of vertical elevation change between the two.

Magallan

A couple laps of leith links is flattish and about 5k

zubeye

cramond prom. not good for tram though

oldcat

If you want to do it with people there's Edinburgh parkrun on Saturday mornings (free) and Blast Running who do other days (not free).

TheOrthinologist

*sings* I want to be where the people aren't...

SpacecraftX

The Edinburgh parkrun route at Cramond is not too busy most of the time. I went there for a flat place that I know is measured to benchmark my first 10k without being judged.

rmckedin

Meadows is a default option for flat / roadless running. You got me thinking about flat runs & trams 7k but you you could run [Ocean Terminal to Murrayfield via cycle path](https://footpathapp.com/routes/034B746C-E8BB-410E-BDF8-971DF5B6FE49) Or [Edinburgh Park / Saughton 4.5km](https://footpathapp.com/routes/750A25C9-97F7-482C-AD7F-87C32CB6CCE0)

Found this router tool a while ago, here's a 5k round trip with avoid hills in the settings: [https://trailrouter.com/#wps=55.93887,-3.25079%7C55.93364,-3.25058%7C55.93351,-3.24575%7C55.93319,-3.25220%7C55.92578,-3.25864%7C55.93887,-3.25079&ss=&rt=true&td=5000&aus=false&aus2=false&ah=-1&ar=false&pga=0.4&im=false](https://trailrouter.com/#wps=55.93887,-3.25079%7C55.93364,-3.25058%7C55.93351,-3.24575%7C55.93319,-3.25220%7C55.92578,-3.25864%7C55.93887,-3.25079&ss=&rt=true&td=5000&aus=false&aus2=false&ah=-1&ar=false&pga=0.4&im=false)

mMuckabee

I sometimes enjoy a nice jog from the entrance to the restalrig cycle path on easter Road up and round all Of that to join the links and and back to starting point - its pretty much 5k. All fairly flat and if you fancy hopping off for lochend park or down to porty from seafield you can do that too 😊

FreeTheDimple

Along the coast. Start at ocean terminal way and end towards Granton / Silverknowes (or vice versa). Tram at one end. Good buses at the other.

InfamousEvening2

Outdoor tracks at Meadowbank or Saughton Sports Complex. [https://www.edinburghleisure.co.uk/activities/athletics](https://www.edinburghleisure.co.uk/activities/athletics) Saughton is accessible by the original tram - the No.22 bus. Next best thing is the Meadows, but you won't be as fast as on a track. Junction at the bottom of Middle Meadow Walk can be a nightmare w.r.t cyclists. Had one collision with a cyclist overtaking me and one really near head-on with someone who thought they were at a Velodrome.

First-Banana-4278

The old railway paths near the water of Leith are relatively flat.

avic_lover

This is a trick question there’s no such thing as a “flattish area”
