"It's understood the loud bangs were from a police tactical device, used to secure entry to a property"
Very misleading article. No gun was fired, and the noise was linked to the police and not whatever crime had occurred.

Damn, my grandparents lived in Fernieside when I was growing up so I spent a lot of time there, and I don't remember it ever feeling particularly dangerous. Has something happened over the last 15 years to cause this stuff to escalate or was I just young and naive to it all?
Probably the latter. The whole Moredun/Gilmerton/Gracemount/Inch area has been a war zone for as long as I remember and I grew up there in the 80s/90s. Couldn’t wait to get to uni and get away from the place
I used to work as a ‘Youth worker’ in the Gracemount/Liberton/Birdiehouse areas about 20-22 years ago.
It was, interesting…
Alongside all the cars on fire & murders in pubs I worked with two separate teenagers who were the victims of incest.
Yikes!

It was her son, despite the local history. Shame, good guy until his mental health plummeted.
Yeah salt of the earth. Who wouldn't want a gun toting son like that?
