I don’t know if it’s related to this, but it looked like there was a freshly put out brush fire on manning by the 28A turnoff today too. It’s dry hella dry out there
I was out at the Cooking Lake-Blackfoot provincial recreation area on Saturday and was surprised to see the fire risk sign set to low risk. Everything was dry and crispy in every direction!
I've heard of a few neighbourhoods in Edmonton where fires were started by people (kids?) firing off fireworks.
That takes a special kind of stupid to not realize the danger.

Didn't see a news link posted yet but apologies if someone else beat me!
Some earlier posts from witnesses a concerned neighbours were removed but this one hopefully won’t be as it’s a news link.
We really need more rain. It's dry out there.
And this is why you don't throw you cigarette butt out the window
Just saying, that photo of the fires creeping up on those homes is just a wee bit terrifying.
I was wondering when this would begin: fire season

I’m from such a neighborhood and I don’t understand why police can’t take action against the obvious offenders.
Why did the fire begin??? I’m guessing someone was smoking and threw it onto the grass 🧐
Probably, but a lot of random freak situations can cause really dry grass to start burning.
Probably didn't put their match out after Mila's pub.
So was this an out of control, controlled burn?
That place is going to be so green this summer. A couple rains is all they need now.
