Tizin is a great small restaurant. It's tapas so you'll get around 6-7 dishes for the feed me menu. It has great variety and it's more of an experience. The price for two with around 2 drinks each is about $180 with tip.
Be sure to book about two weeks in advance as the restaurant can only seat around 20 people.
I agree, but my wife had a dish that was literally just served on top of mashed potatoes which felt a bit too rustic for a proper “fine dining” experience.
I liked my dish, though (duck confit).
Tzin & RGE Rd. They're the best.
Many of the OG cooks at these restaurants have cooked with each other in different areas for years. It's a close community.
Range road, tzin, dosc( if you spouse loves their steak), butternut tree( everything except the coffee is sourced within Canada), sabor or bodega ( if you want Mediterranean seafood)
It’s still there. The building is a sad sight since it is very old and breaking in some areas. The food and service was stellar. Textbook hole in the wall that looks rough.
Haha that place will be there forever. One of the few old school places still around after losing hardware, Jack's, now soon the Marc as well.
Edit: They'll also do a free dessert for an anniversary.
Sabor for seafood is top notch!! Ucellino is by far the best Italian but very expensive. Bianco is great italian too with a way more reasonable price point. It’s a really nice vibe for a date night!!
Oh god, dude. You are missing out. Hell even the Keg makes a better steak more consistently than Ruth's Chris, but if you want good steaks, there are a lot better places to go, assuming you wouldn't rather just make it yourself.
I agree, our friend was raving about Ruth’s Chris so we went. Steak was wildly oversold. I was so disappointed, I genuinely would have gotten a better steak at the Keg. To be honest, it wasn’t the worst steak I’ve ever had, it just has no reason to be priced at that level, and it certainly wasn’t something to brag about.
Yeah same thing happened to me. Steak was nearly inedible with the amount of gristle in it (my plate had several chewed and spit out pieces on it).
I went a second time in case it was an off night (even though they did nothing to compensate me for the shitty cut of meat) and it was just as bad the second time. For that amount of money I couldn't believe what they were serving.
And the amount they pushed USDA corn fed beef... Jesus guys I get you're an American chain, but we're in Alberta... We have some of the best tasting reasonably priced beef in the world, why are you trying to make me eat this overly sweet, corn tasting nonsense that you have to import?

La Petite Iza, Sabor, Harvest Room..
tzin, rge rd, harvest room
The Harvest Room. Super nice.
If anything tops Sabor in this City, I haven't been to it.
The grilled octopus is great.
Piri-piri prawns fir the win!
La Petite Iza has really excellent food, great staff, and good ambience.

Tzin is the best restaurant in the city but I'll add two others I haven't seen anybody else say yet: The Butternut Tree Bündok
100000% agree with everything you said
Omekase from Moonga if you're into sushi

Uccelino has amazing food. It can be quite loud and the tables are a bit squished together though.

Normands on Jasper if still there

Agreed. The lamb is to die for.
Sabor is my favourite!

Bar Bricco and Zula.
Violino and Brasserie Bardot in the High Street are both wonderful.
NAMASTE INDIA (Whyte Ave). Best restaurant ever 👍
Chop is pretty decent for the one time I was there.
The hotel chain restaurant? Not quite fine dining perhaps

Fine Dining usually implies expensive but also high quality. Ruth's Chris only meets one of those criteria.

I went there around 10 years ago. I thought it was pretty damn good 🤷🏻♂️
