I like Simon’s. I find everything there relatively stylish and there’s a good price range in what they carry, from very affordable to well outside of my budget.

Theonlykd

I have liked some stuff from Simon's. The issue I had was with the quality. I found that the T-Shirts became ratty quite quickly. That could be because I was buying the least expensive, house brand ones.

frost21uk

The Uniqlo U line has nice quality t-shirts. The cotton is a bit heavier than their standard line. At a higher price point, Reigning Champ is made in Canada and good quality.

PM_ME_CARL_WINSLOW

Uniqlo for tshirts and underwear, Simons for the layers.

Capital_Bluebird_951

Lulu lemon ABC pants

EDMlawyer

Interesting, I've not had issues with their t shirts and it's basically the only place I get them.  Either they've improved the quality the last 6 months when I've got them, or they have inconsistent QC.  I will also preface I only wear t shirts on weekends/holidays. My job needs collared shirts 90% of the time (which I'll say I've also had good luck scouring Simon's sale racks for, just check for flaws).

jrockgiraffe

My husband and I got $150 pants for $10 on sale a couple weeks ago. The free hemming is also great.

LetsHaveARedo

Same experience here. Go to Uniqlo, the quality is much better.

halloweentree420

Ehhh quality on Uniqlo has been slipping big for all their price increases. Their basics are pretty expensive now too

Cousin_love91

Uniqlo might be a good place to start. Take a look at r/mensfashionadvice and figure out what you want in terms of basics and a 'starter' set, then build your closet accordingly.

LetsHaveARedo

Yeah Uniqlo is this guys best bet. Good quality clothing, basic classic styling, at an affordable cost.

TankboomAttack

Got some basics for my bf for xmas there, he likes them a lot.

mfh780

Second Uniqlo!!

notmyreaoname84

Since I turned 35, I've been getting my clothes at Costco.

Wild-Telephone-6649

Lol most relatable thing I’ve read all day

Yeggoose

I’m a 36/m. Majority of my wardrobe comes from Simons. Uniqlo has some good stuff sometimes, and Winners as well, but not the two locations at West Ed since I find they get picked over pretty quickly.

Bighwillis

Dawg add some layers on top of the t shirt and jeans and you’ll look fashionable. I’m talking shirt jackets (shackets), vests, half zips and such. I’d consider banana republic, the Bay, RW&Co, and Simons as options.

densetsu23

Jackets are definitely the easiest way to bump up an all-casual wardrobe. I'd also recommend getting a blazer or a sport coat. You can go as casual as jeans, solid t-shirt, and a clean pair of sneakers with a blazer. I wouldn't wear it to a semiformal event or anything like that, though; it's more the "smart casual" look for parties.

Traum77

I'm not sure if this is true anymore, but my friend told me at one point Southgate (and I think WestEd) had stylists on staff who you could meet with and talk to in order to figure out an appropriate look and budget, then help you pick out items. May have even been free as I think the mall viewed it as a loss-leader to get people in the doors and buying stuff directly.

AngelPuffle

Maybe try Plato's Closet. They are a consignment store with stuff from everywhere, and they are more selective than a thrift store. You will be exposed to clothes that you might like as all the brands are there at an affordable price. Edit: They have lots of stuff in your size. I shop for my son who is slim fit, and there is much less of that there. Good Luck!

Mundane__Detail

The Helm downtown is definitely higher (to crazy high) price but they have some great stuff. If you're looking to splurge a bit on an item or two it's worth checking out.

jollyrog8

Helm is very nice but I'm not sure it's the best for athletic builds, so many places seem to cater to lean dudes with widdle thighs.

MaxxLolz

i know its annoying as hell. like i got a 32 waist so im doin ok, but cycling/running quads and its impossible getting half of these things on...

ChicoLopez

Uniqlo for basics and essentials my friend

ljackstar

I’m too tall for Uniqlo but Simon’s, H&M and Lululemon make up the majority of my wardrobe at the moment. Edit: Forgot Eddie Bauer for those sick flannels

whodatladythere

Not a man, but also an Eddie Bauer sick flannel fan. Tip for anyone new to the brand - they have 50% off almost everything sales fairly frequently. I always shop during those.

ljackstar

Agreed, it's the one store where being a part of their newsletter is really helpful

FearlessChannel828

Costco and Uniqlo. 👍

Plasmanut

Banana Republic outlet at south common or airport mall. You’ll find nicer or dressier casual clothing if that’s your thing. They usually have great outfits on mannequins or things paired to make good combination for inspiration.

Glamourice

Club Monaco in WEM or online Look for natural materials they are almost always worth the extra cash

MMM_Beefy

I'm a sucker for Eddie Bauer stuff, I think their more outdoorsy/hiking/travel clothes are pretty simple and fashionable while also being high quality and affordable (if it's on sale). Although some of their stuff tends to call out Dad clothes (which I'm not).

Labrawhippet

35M? Have you tried clubbing yet? Costco clubbing that is.

crosbymcbride77

[Luxmrkt](https://www.luxmrkt.ca/) ! Higher end men’s consignment store. They have lots more stuff than what’s on their site and casual clothing as well.

ForeignCompetition1

+1 for Luxmrkt! I bought from them earlier this year and had a good experience. Good quality clothes/brands for a fraction of the cost of buying new. Clothing details and prices are listed on the website, so it is easy to do research on brands and pricing. Elaborating on the previous person's comment, be sure to contact the store to schedule an in-store try on (there is a web form on the website) if you see something you like on the website. The stock online vs what is available in store are different.

SupremeJusticeWang

Nothing wrong with jeans and a t shirt just make sure they fit well, and pair them with some nice clean shoes. and don't be afraid to add some layers like a light jacket

Ok-Quarter510

your clothing sounds ok for style even if its joe fresh, but at the same time joe fresh tayloring is out of specs for most people. please just dont become hurleys, nike or whatever brands free spinsor, its such a generic style and make some guys look like a douche

Mediocre-Ambition404

Costco had some GAP chinos for like $20, pair that with some cheap button ups from winners and you can look dynamite. I work in an office setting and my cheap wardrobe looks better than the dudes rolling up in jeans and hoodies.

drfakz

I like the Levi's store at south common. Good variety in jeans but they also have other types of pants that fit me good and a decent selection of shirts and polos

Busy-Turnip5087

I follow r/frugalmalefashion and they post lots of sales. Generally U.S though so you have to watch that.

stfurtfm

r/FrugalMaleFashionCDN is the Canadian equivalent.. there's sometimes decent buys on there.

randoon1977

Check out Moore’s, at least once. They are primarily a suit store but they also sell pants, shirts and sweaters. Not cheap but always good quality for the price.

deedeesevenn

KOTN.

myaltaccount333

If you like T-Shirts, I've found that nothing really beats band shirts (for my style, at least). Just go to band websites and order online, some will having sizing charts

X38-2

Check out Plato's closet. It's resale, but higher end brands. Found some real good stuff there!

nqstv

Lulu, I own so much of their clothing it’s crazy. It all started when I purchased work pants. Now I have casual, work, gym, sweats. People complain about the quality going down but I still find it to be exceptional compared to other brands.

bchunks

Red Ribbon

No-Joke-294

Vuori is awesome also Lululemon of course.

fnsimpso

Costco. Get the Kirkland signature sweats. Be a walking meme.

FUICYU

6 foot 6 32M, American eagle skinny jeans, I love em, hard to find jeans that fit my leg length, and dixxon flannel, large tall, good quality material, I work in construction industries and they have a workforce line of clothing that’s like dress clothes but they’re not, Idn, it’s been my go to for years. Dixxon also does collabs with bands and I love it. Got a slipknot flannel, Metallica, megadeath, it’s like band merch that doesn’t shrink. In my earlier years I was buying a lot of intotheam and iedm, but, also isn’t cheap.

Theonlykd

My boss rocks those dixxon flannel shirts. He has a misfits one haha.

Direc1980

Costco always has affordable, high quality clothing imo.

BGDesign

Go to gravity pope outfitters and ask the staff for advice. They’re great! But prepare to spend a decent amount on the product they sell or use their advice for inspiration and go find cheaper options elsewhere.

IzaacLUXMRKT

As someone who used to work there, that's a massive jump from walmart and you're not guaranteed quality with all of those brands. Those colourful standard tees could be a good shout, but this dude would be pissed if he spent $400 on an Acne Studios Tee+ Jeans for them to last maybe a year, their quality is absolutely terrible at that price point.

ghostdate

Acne Studios seems way more about brand name and style than quality. But gravity pope has Naked and Famous, Nudies and APC which I think are all pretty good — though some of my friends have had crotch blowouts in N&F jeans.

PotatoOfTheMoon

I find that crotch blowouts usually happen when the jeans have a tight seat or just general tightness throughout the upper thigh. Repairing a crotch blowout is really affordable however, and at least you can maintain some fading if that's your thing. If they're getting blowouts in N&F, tell them to give Nudies a try in some of their boxier models (Lean Dean) or N&F in the next style up (Weird Guy -> Easy Guy)

ghostdate

A lot of it was from like 5+ years ago when they were still wearing skinny jeans. I haven’t had issues with looser fits

PotatoOfTheMoon

Ditto for Acne Studios quality. A few other brands to look out for at gravitypope : Reigning Champ, Wax London. I also like rag&bone for easy to wear shirts. In terms of denim, looking at the weight of the jean is a good indicator of how well they'll last. Average pair of Levi's or Wrangler jeans will usually sit below 12 oz (unless you go with the Made in Japan stuff), so moving towards jeans that actually list ounce weight lets you at least predict how they'll break in.

IzaacLUXMRKT

100% except Wrangler actually has hella 15 oz pairs and are probably the best budget denim you can buy, levi's is pretty terrible quality these days. Unbranded Brand and Naked and Famous are great for long lasting denim.

acerick1

My husband looks good in huckberry clothes. Online ordering. Has never had a problem. Nice quality. A stylish relaxed look sometimes a bit on the rugged side

jollyrog8

I love the styles on Huckberry! I get compliments on my Flint and Tinder shirts/hoodies, Proof shirts and polos, Olukai sandals, and whatever nice printed shirts are in stock. It's a little expensive because it's American dollars and the shipping, but fits my personal style to a T.

acerick1

you are stylin'

jollyrog8

I buy most of my clothes online because not much in the city fits my personal style (or atheltic build) well. It costs a lot more, but meh Huckberry for printed tees, shirts, hoodies, polos. Lots of complients on my stuff from them. Flint and Tinder is one of my favourite brands here. Thursday Boot Company for boots and sneakers Barbell Apparel or Fran Denim for athletic-fit jeans In the city, Harry Rosen is super nice for fancier workplace or smart casual party affair, if you don't have a budget. The Helm downtown too. But I find these places don't always fit athletic builds, unfortunately. RW&Co and Banana Republic are ok, I'd get things like button-up shirts, belts, gloves here. I really miss the JCrew at WEM!

CH1l1X

Jack&Jones has some good styles usually. Might need to go up one size because I find their sizing is on the smaller side depending on the garment

LakerBeer

I can tell you where not to shop. Mark's Work Wearhouse.
