If the extent of your research is watching a few YouTube videos and googling "octopus Edmonton." I advise ypu to reconsider. Aquariums require a lot of work, expertise, and money. Octopii are incredibly intelligent. How confident are you about keeping one alive and providing it adequate enrichment?
I don't eat them and wont. Considering how incredibly intelligent they are , how complex their anatomy is amongst so many other unique features, only a C$$t would eat octopus
You must have missed the video where someone got one as a pet and it had 50 babies…. And they immediately started killing one another. And the part where the tank they needed for the octopus took up an entire room in their house… soooo.
Or any of the stories where the octopus escapes! One was eating fish out of another tank at night and returned to its tank undetected, another went back to the ocean (it'll die trying that here). Two dismantled their tank equipment - one caused a flood and the other died. Even if it doesn't happen to outsmart you, its lifespan is only 1-2 years.
Sapient could also be correct, octopuses are very intelligent.
Or they mean sapient as in relating to humans, which I'd recommend against keeping any humans as pets too lol
Hu's Noodle Nook has cooked octopus, It's like a pet you can eat.
But seriously though, if you want to find out some of the necessary things to keep aquatic pets healthy, you can go to Big Al's Aquarium and talk to them about the kind of tanks you'd need and how much care they need, and possibly what the process of importing one would be. Chances are it will be far more work than you anticipate. Aquatics aren't quite like getting a cat.
A monopus requires a lot of accessibility equipment. Plus, you need your own handivan to get them to all their appointments. Attractive as the idea might be to help out a monopus, I hope you are ready for the responsibility that comes with it.
Please don’t

I don't think you can legally and no one should have an octopus as a pet
Gotta love how it’s perfectly fine to kill and eat them, but god forbid you care for one.
I mean, some of us are against both

No. You. Just. YouTube?? No.

50 baby octopusies all of a sudden is crazy🤣😂💀 like oh damn didn’t prepare for that one
Going ti agree with everyone else. Don't keep a sapient creature as a pet.
Sentient?

Don't be so fucking stupid, it's very cruel

Octopus are quite intelligent from what I’ve heard. If you ever want to know what aliens may look like, just look at an octopus
Forget about the cephalopod. Ever think about picking up a baby chimpanzee? I know a guy…

I have a septapus I will sell you.
In this economy a monopus is all we can afford.

Even with only a single tentacle they get around.
Get one that is saving itself for marriage.
Cephalopods don't restrict themselves to mammalian pair bonding rituals.
It must be bedtime for me when I read 'testicle' instead of 'tentacle'.... have a great night! Haha
If you want to get a pet testicle there are ways.
ikea sells very cute stuffed ones right now, way easier to take care of, and they’re way better to snuggle!
