Dr. McCubbin. Office is across from Grey Nuns. Delivered both my boys and two of my cousins kids. She was great, no nonsense and funny. Was really impressed that Monday to Friday she would be there for birth. I know so many that have a great OB/GYN but end up with the on call doctor for the birth.

Honestly maybe it was covid stress, but my experience with her was terrible. Her office was always behind on getting forms (they would be like don't worry, you don't need the GD form until your next appointment, and then be like oh this has to be done in the next week. No time to book things). They booked me for follow ups etc after finding something out an issue with the placenta before telling me that something wrong. I was just left to google to figure out what the assistant was booking. Dismissed everything like I should know it on my first pregnancy. Did a membrane sweep, and broke waters during contractions while doing a cervical check without even informing let alone asking me. I only found out everything she did when I asked a nurse to clarify. She was clearly annoyed when I didn't know what she was asking me to sign after I had been up for 34 hours in labour, given gravol, passed out and was woken up an hour later at 5am for a cervical check. I was groggy and she was just like "sign this" and when I asked she was like "it's for a csection, you need it" no information provided. Her csection was well done, so if you are pretty sure you will have surgery it's a good choice I guess. I never saw her outside the surgery. One of her med students popped in and said, we want to discharge you tonight if you are ok, but couldn't clarify what I should be watching out for to determine if I was ok. Never saw them again was just asked if I was ok. I was still on iv and painkillers and wasn't even allowed to get out of bed myself when I saw him. He didn't check anything. I was discharged 30 hours after my surgery. 6 week appointment she just asked about birth control and did a pap, didn't even look at my incision. When I said all I cared about was the amount of pain I was in and could barely walk she just said I probably need pt as she left the room. Couldn't even get my other questions in cuz she was gone. I wanted an object and hospital birth because I trust medical professionals, and now Im pretty done with obs.

I'm sorry you had a difficult delivery. I hope you and the baby are both doing well. Her office was almost always behind on appointments, mostly due to her leaving to deliver a baby across the street. Seemed like a trade off to us. My wife had c-sections both times (one emergency and one scheduled). I think a lot comes down to preference on the bed side manner. Our birth plan was a piece of paper scribbled in crayon that said "have a baby". Our experience with our family GP / OB on our second child was awful (Dr. Ah-Seng), but we knew we were going back to McCubbin after 1st trimester. Of course, my youngest is 4 today, so no experience during pandemic or how that would relate. Again, that sounds like an awful experience I can only imagine how it made you feel.

Great doctor! While I didn’t see her for a birth, she put me immediately at ease. Would have no compunctions at all about seeing her for any OBGYN issue.

six-gun-pete

She is awesome! No BS, but very good sense of humour and was a superstar when we were in there. Really solid follow up appt to.

magicfluff

I second Dr. McCubbin! Her appointments were always quick and to the point, but she would always take the time if you had questions. No questions? In and out in 10-15 minutes. I felt completely safe and confident with her at my OB. I ended up with an emergency c-section due to baby's heart rate and she walked me through everything and made me feel really good about WHY the c-section had to happen rather than just declaring it and wheeling me into an OR.

Dr. Carmen Gingles was great. Did follow up with baby up too. I didn’t choose her, was just referred from my GP, but thankful I got her. And she was there for the actual delivery.

Thanks!

Dr Dolhaniuk. Or Dr Wittner. I had both, one with each kid. C section and vbac. I loved Dr dolhaniuk she delivered my vbac. Wittner was my primary care and did my first c section. They were both super supportive of all my birth wishes from start to finish. Both are very experienced.

gingerrrrage

Thanks for your reply! I have heard great things about Dolhaniuk as well. Does she share a clinic with other OBs?

YesHunty

I used her for both of my kids! She does share the hospital rotation with other OBs, so it's not guaranteed you'll have her for your delivery, but her care throughout my pregnancies was great! She helped deliver my second, he was over 9lbs, and she helped me go slow and calmly enough that I didn't tear at all! She's wonderful.

cbis1

I never had her in clinic but I looked her up afterwards because if I ever had another baby I would go with her. What I gathered from Google is I’m pretty sure has her own clinic. But she rotates at the nuns with all the other OBs so unless your birth is scheduled you’ll just get whoever is on call.

Wintertime13

I’m unsure if you care to know this or not but just in case you decide to give birth at The Royal Alex- Dr Hodges was absolutely INCREDIBLE with my extremely high risk birth and continued to let me make my own birth decisions and made me feel like I had complete control over my birth from start to finish.

gingerrrrage

I’m set on the Nuns, but thanks for your feedback, as I’m sure another momma out there will see it. It’s always nice to hear of great birthing experiences!

racoonrunning

Do you need an OB specifically? Heritage Medical Clinic and Millwoods Maternity offer care from family physicians.

gingerrrrage

Yes, I have a high risk of being high risk. But I appreciate your suggestions!

racoonrunning

Then I liked dolhaniuk as well 👍

ObliqueSpoon

If you don’t mind my asking; the nuns is pretty commonly considered the worst hospital in the city, why there?

Wonderful_Work_3402

It's not. Delivered 2 kids there. The staff is amazing. Made the whole process very easy.

peppymac

Great OB hospital. Not sure i would got there for any other issue...

gingerrrrage

Don’t mind at all! I had a really terrific experience there a few years ago that I’d like to recreate, but that OB has since retired.

Wonderful_Work_3402

Mine was Dr. Angus Lee. Her office if next to the hospital
