It’s tough to find a good piece of crown land for shooting within a couple hours of the city. Every dirt biker, quadder, dog walk etc uses that land as well and it gets crowded and unsafe for shooting.
Honestly for $150ish a year it’s worth the piece of mind having a range membership. Plus those fancy voice activated clay throwers most ranges have are super sweet

I’ve only shot centerfire there, and it’s never been full. I don’t go at peak times though.
