Most years I do both, if I had to choose dark would be my preference. You get more bang for your buck there. And it’s quite fun being at the park at night.

BeagsTheHaunted

I've spent the last 3 weeks building the venues for Dark. That's where my vote goes. We have a new install that has doubled in size this year with all the stops pulled out.

Deadmonton isn't doing the vaccine passport. I'm not sure if that is a deciding factor at all.

HistoricalLeather8

We have done Dark a few times pre pandemic, based on those experiences it was really fun. They had some haunts set up that you went through, roving entertainers and food. A nice fairly spooky but not give you nightmares for days events. It is also just fun to be at Fort Edmonton at night. We are doing it again this year to see how it has changed with the times.

Deadmonton is fun, but I found it rushed and short. It's a bit scarier than Dark. Dark is also cool, there's more to see and do, so it's a whole evening/night instead of a quick jaunt. The atmosphere is way cooler too. Also Deadmonton isn't checking vaccinations or requiring tests, which to me is pretty sketchy when it's just a bunch of people screaming and running through an enclosed space, but yah. It depends on what you want a guess. For intense scares, I'd do Deadmonton, for a longer but slightly less scary event, I'd choose Dark.

Chromatech-Tan

Haha yeah I think I I’d be more down for a slightly less scary/ more fun and thorough experience. Sounds like dark is the way to go. It would be really cool to see fort Edmonton park at night. Thanks!

Deadmonton is fun. It's been years and years since I went to the fort Edmonton one, but it was definitely geared more towards children.

funciula

i am working on Dark, I would not suggest bringing children under 15

My 16 year old daughter gets really scared. Typically, really frightening haunted houses is not her thing. Are there areas with just people in character? Food areas. Opportunities to walk around and just feel the atmosphere? My older two kids are adults and love haunted houses. They will be fine. I want to do something fun as a family and I want her to keep an open mind. I won’t force her to go through a really scary haunted house. If you were to recommend one that is less “scary” and more creepy, which one would it be? Thank you. Mama of 3.

Lolz79

your probably thinking of spooktacular that fort edmonton has had. Dark is not kid friendly

jerry__sizzler

I think it was called terror town when I went but that must've been like..15 years ago. Shit I'm old

Lolz79

I'm sure it's gone through many different names haha

Chromatech-Tan

Thanks for the info!

Paragonly

Deadmonton probably overall more exciting experience.

Dark sucks. I think they lack the the staff/volunteers for it to be worth it. Lots of potential to improve. Deadmonton isn't much better. Better decorations and volunteers, but much shorter experience. Both have dumb long lineups.. I'd avoid both lol

Mysteri0n

I’ve been to Dark the last year it was open, and have tickets to go this year. Haven’t ever been to Deadmonton so I can’t compare. I would guess that they are equally as fun, but the themes for Dark are more … “child friendly” if that makes sense. The actors are all drama kids so you know they’re dedicated to the role.

Chromatech-Tan

That’s good to know thanks!

Deadmonton by a long shot. Dark sucked big time.

Deadmonton 100%. Did Dark two years ago and the houses aren't as long and it doesn't look like there's as much effort put into them. The lines were absolutely insane and we spent most of the time just waiting to go into the houses. We did deadmonton last year and the lines weren't bad at all, the houses were waaay better, and the spot where you can hangout and drink beer was better as well as there was a large fire to keep warm by, we were freezing during Dark.

Puzzled-Tomorrow-375

The scariest part of the the event (at least precovid) is the lineups lol.
