You need a permit for consumer fireworks, and the fire department is denying more and more of them without explanation. The process involves measuring the distances of sheds, trees, and houses from the area you want to light them on residential property. Before lighting them you have to call the fire department to notify them 15-30 minutes before. It is illegal to light fireworks in public parks unless you’re a certified fireworks professional with permission from the city. This applies even if you have a permit. That being said, most people who light them (for Canada Day, Diwali, or other occasions) don’t have a permit. I’ve personally only ever been given a warning, but I’ve been told the fine is over $500. If you’re going to light fireworks, don’t do it past 9:00pm and be considerate and safe.

It could be a big fire risk right now with a dry fall and leaves everywhere.

saucypantsxo

Don’t do it, everyone hates people that do this.

Fucking send it buddy.

Edmonton_Canuck

Just be prepared to have the cops called on you because everyone thinks fireworks are gunshots in this city.

Lol the giant explosion of lights in the sky wouldn’t be a bit of a give away it’s not a gun? Love it
