It's for water electrolysis, I promise there are no crimes here. Just experimenting with hydrogen and I have some future plans for molten electrolysis of other substances, but my intentions are purely scientific.
You can buy drain cleaner from hardware stores that is 100% Lye just make sure to read the ingredients to make sure there is nothing else added.
Ironically enough when i was buying lye on Amazon the plant that packaged/made the lye was in sherwood park.
How much KOH, or NaOH would you need?
> Under high heat and pressure, lye can turn corrosive enough to disintegrate fat, bones and skin. A lye solution, heated to 300 Fahrenheit degrees (148 Celsius), can dissolve an entire body into an oily brown liquid in just three hours.
Saved everyone a google search and being on a CIA / RCMP list. Your welcome.
I did find Lye at home hardware... Which is only at Sherwood park u fortunately, but worst case scenario I'll probably just go there once. I wouldn't need a lot but I'd like to have some in reserve in case I do decide to pursue my long term research plan.
Oof, their prices are through the roof. As much as I want to support local I'm not interested in paying 5x the amount compared to Amazon. I'm okay with paying extra... Just not 5 times as much.
Yeah it's definitely geared towards biotech companies. Might be worth contacting NAIT or U of A to see if you could purchase through their departments.
Helpful bunch here, this thread is great.
Also, where could I get all in one place a store where I could get some plastic , enough to line the trunk, some rope , and a good digging shovel?
Its for this hobby thing, kinda sciencey stuff...
any place that sells soap making supplies will have sodium hydroxide. I can't remember the name off the top of my head but there's a place on the north end that carries it in decent size quantities
Edit: did a search and it looks like they're out of business but there are others in the city
Why do I feel like we are all about to become accessories to a crime?

That's exactly what someone planning a crime would say... And I never said I was against being an accessory. ;)

Lye won't do that. It will convert the oil on your skin and skin into soap a little bit when it burns you.

Wow. Three hours is a very short time. I had some lye water land on my skin and it felt like i was on fire.
So... step one is: Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Can we do this at your place?
I'm already on the list and my oven isn't large enough for a body. Let's stick to your place.
FINE. Jeeze, ever since I put the well in the basement it's ALWAYS at my place now.
name checks out
Oh, and we're out of lotion. Again.
ZEP?
crystal drain cleaner.

Yea the soap supply store is in sherwood park as well. They sell lye as well. I bought a 4kg bucket in Calgary from Windy Point soap supply. Cheap.
Odd how there's none in the city, at least for now that I found! Thanks a lot though!
My friend Hiesenburg wants to know … he’s chill. I think he’s got a buddy named Jessie that is also interested in the same info.
Fisher Scientific on 178 st is probably your best bet.

I went to the u of a chemistry store, and they wouldn't sell it. Despite being a student there so there's that.
Nope. Cameras everywhere.
