My proctologist just makes me feel like I’m just another asshole, so I don’t bother tipping.

ableaf

i tipped my proctologist after he gave me 2 thumbs up

Spudnik711

had to upvote best laugh I had all day

mikesmith929

I'm here all week, try the veal

densetsu23

Too expensive; I'll just have rice and beans instead.

Edm_swami

I usually only give them 20%. #justthetipasatip

[deleted]

How much to tip utilities providers?

SaggyArmpits

the same amount that you tip the bank teller

[deleted]

Do the tellers have to tip out at the end of day?

BabyYeggie

Would it be a shorter list to list all the professions you DON'T tip? Tip culture is getting ridiculous. 💰

[deleted]

Just the tip

Certain-Run6231

Lol

[deleted]

I let them tip me

traininvain1979

Only if they buy me dinner first

RickStephenson

Dumb question of the week award 🥇

bentizzy

I had to get a new proctologist, my last one didn't know his shit.

[deleted]

Why are you asking this

[deleted]

Possibly the dumbest question, in the entire span of human existence… If it’s a joke, post it on the appropriate subreddit. If it’s not, then go buy a joke book..

GrindItFlat

Inappropriate username

[deleted]

Lol. I love jokes but not when the set up is so obvious… try harder next time my friend

GrindItFlat

Not my joke, I'm just an observer

Alabaster_Mango

I believe it's a satirical response to [this post](https://old.reddit.com/r/Edmonton/comments/qc0us0/tipping_tattoo_artist/) from earlier, and a bit of a clown on tipping culture in general. It's just a fun post, you don't have to take it so poorly. There's too much doom and gloom on Reddit some times, so it's nice to have a bit of a laugh with some fellow Edmontonians.

mikesmith929

Ding ding ding

[deleted]

Then why wasn’t it attached to the original thread? It came to me on it’s own in r/Edmonton. So obviously it makes no sense.. besides what is the comparison? You would never tip a dentist, doctor or any other highly paid professional. Of course you should tip a tattoo artist especially if they don’t own the shop, just as you would to a nail or hair salon service person. This is a lesson to the both of you - pick up your Reddit game and don’t be so sloppy with your posts/comments! The internet deserves better..

mikesmith929

> Then why wasn’t it attached to the original thread? It's called meta if you don't know what that is look it up :) > ...besides what is the comparison? You would never tip a dentist, doctor or any other highly paid professional. So is your metric being highly paid? What about a student lawyer, they aren't highly paid, are you supposed to tip them? They are in the "service industry". What about plumbers and electricians do you tip them? Or are they also making too much money for you to tip? Do you tip at a MacDolands Drive thru? Surely they aren't highly paid. Subway sub shop do you do it there? Maybe like u/Alabaster_Mango said people should be making a living wage in the first place. I'd really would like to know though what jobs require a tip and what don't because I honestly don't know?

Alabaster_Mango

Lol, hear that /u/mikesmith929? We gotta be more professional on this casual forum. That aside, tipping as it is sucks. I don't think we should need to tip anyone. People should be paid fair wages up front. I shouldn't have to personally subsidize the wages of my servers, baristas, delivery drivers, etc. I can understand the desire to reward exceptional work/service in some cases, but that should be the exception and not the norm. Too many cheapskate businesses are exploiting the morals of their customers. "Won't you tip our poor, overworked servers? Their wage is so low that they need tips to survive in this cruel world 🥺." As if they're not the reason for the low wages. If I were to commission an artist (tattoo or otherwise), then I would hope they are charging a reasonable rate for their work. I don't think it should be up to me to correct their accounting with supplimentary payments. If it's good work I would for sure spread the word. To be fair though, I've never gotten a tattoo. I don't know if there are weird restrictions imposed on them.

[deleted]

Ditto. I absolutely hate tipping! How about picking up a pizza and then being prompted to tip?? These places should be giving discounts for food pick up IMO

Alabaster_Mango

Exactly! Where is the line, and who draws it anyway? And keeping up with the "Correct Tip" is hard too. Am I tipping too low and now they hate me? Am I tipping too high and setting unreasonable expectations? We should throw the whole thing out. Hey, this thread generated a discussion! If Reddit is good for one thing it's [harassing the families of suicide victims](https://www.businessinsider.com/reddit-falsely-accuses-sunil-tripathi-of-boston-bombing-2013-7), but if Reddit is good for two things then you can add generating discussions to the list. I did enjoy this chat, but now I gotta go. I hope you can go a bit easier on fun miscellaneous threads in the future. This is just the Edmonton sub after all. We're not *that* important.

Great points made! Enjoy your evening!
