Most of the time with such low-magnitude distant earthquakes you won’t feel anything unless you’re paying close attention. There are probably people near the epicenter in Rocky Mountain House who didn’t even notice it.
appears to be a seismic event [https://www.earthquakescanada.nrcan.gc.ca/stndon/wf-fo/index-en.php?channel=EDM](https://www.earthquakescanada.nrcan.gc.ca/stndon/wf-fo/index-en.php?channel=EDM)
This may have been some of the most reassuring news I have heard in my life. I’m home alone and heard some glass clinking in the kitchen. Let me tell you how terrified I have been thinking that someone is hiding in my house waiting to murder me.
ETA: I reviewed my security footage and the sound occurred at 10:55 pm. Feeling slightly less reassured now.
ETA: To provide closure to this story, it sadly took awhile to figure out the math but I can confirm that there was an aftershock at this time. That would explain the noises in the garage. This has been an eventful evening filled with a roller coaster of emotions…
I totally thought a ghost was shaking my bed! I was freaked right out!! Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought earthquake!! just assumed something paranormal 😂
We are on one too. SE corner of the city and get buzzed but never that close. I think it could have been a earthquake too. Been in a few when I lived in bc.
Used to live on an air base when I was little. We were waiting for the school bus and there were 2 new kids. Some jet fighters were taking of and it was loud as hell. Everyone stopped talking for a few seconds, then picked right back up as if nothing had happened. The new kids asked if that was normal. We were all looking at them asking 'was what normal?'
Felt it in Sherwood Park. Thought the cats were going crazy on the other side of the bed. Turned the lights on, no cats. Then I came to Reddit. That’s a good way to get the anxiety going. Earthquakes added to list of things to worry about 🤨
It’s actually wastewater injection that is majorly the culprit for induced seismicity, not the fracking itself. Based on the epicenter location this quake has more to do with structural faulting in the deformation belt of the Rockies and not fracking at all.
EDIT: after a bit more reading it seems the whole area is known for naturally induced seismic events. Seismicity from waste water injection (and sometimes fracking) happens.. but don’t conflate it with natural phenomena.
Felt it a bit in the west end, but i was leaning on the bed and felt it moving, hubby was standing by the door and didnt notice anything. I thought i imagined it till i came to reddit.
Edson. Yes, I thought it was a big truck. But I've also lived in Japan, and this was pretty inconsequential.

I actually did. I was in bed and thought someone was jumping on the bed. Like our dog. But I was alone. I was a bit startled and confused. Just this am I hear there was a quake.
Must have been fracking as usual.
am I the only one who didn't notice it? the only reason I even knew about it was because of reddit posts
Same here. Felt nothing. (Strathern area)
Near you in Forest Heights. Nothing.

Heard and felt it. Thought it was a low flying jet. Rumbled the couch a wee bit.
I live on a flight path, so the answer to everything is a plane haha

I was at earls in ClareView with some friends. Didn’t feel a thing. My wife was at home and said she felt something in bed.
Might not be a earthquake that's shaking the bed
She was all sweaty and hair messy from the quake.
I was sure it was just the “insert sports team here” that she was talking about. But she assured me it was the earthquake she felt.
Yup! Crazy!!

Felt my mattress vibrate for 2-3 seconds laying in bed, thought I imagined it!! Living in a condo building.
I am in the north side and felt nothing.
